ATRAN acquires its first Boeing 737, will operate for UPS

ATRAN (Aviatrans Cargo Airlines) (Volga-Dnepr Group) (Moscow-Domodedovo) has acquired its first Boeing 737 freighter. The pictured 737-46Q (SF) VP-BCJ (msn 28663) was acquired on July 23, 2012 and will be operated on the Cologne/Bonn-Moscow (Domodedovo) route for UPS under a freight contract.

Previous to this new addition the cargo airline, formerly known as Moscow Aviation Enterprise, has operated Russian-built aircraft, especially those built by Antonov and Ilyushin.

LOT Polish Airlines to use MAEL to maintain its eight Boeing 787 Dreamliners

LOT Polish Airlines (Warsaw) has signed an agreement with Monarch Aircraft Engineering Limited (MAEL) to maintain its eight Boeing 787 Dreamliners on order. LOT will receive itsย first 787-8 in November 2012.

Under the terms of the agreement, MAEL will build a line maintenance base in Warsaw, as well as technically support the new aircraft while flying abroad.

In addition, MAEL will cooperate with Air France Industries KLM Engineering & Maintenance) for the provision of spare parts necessary to operate the new Boeing 787 fleet.

Alaska Airlines’ ramp service and stores agents ratify the new contract

Alaska Airlines‘ (Seattle/Tacoma) ramp service and stores agents, represented the International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers (IAM) District 142, have ratified a new six-year contract. The new agreement covers approximately 600 Ramp Service and Stores Agent employees at the carrier and was approved by 91 percent of those voting.

The accord includes a 10 percent base wage hike over the term of the agreement, enhanced merger and job protection, $2,000 in signing bonuses, increased premium pay and improved benefits and work-rules.

Vision Airlines to drop Toledo, Ohio after less than a month

Vision Airlines (Atlanta) started Myrtle Beach-Toledo service on June 1 in the wake of the Direct Air (Myrtle Beach) bankruptcy. Vision will now drop the MYR-TOL route on June 29 as it searches for profitable city pairs.
