Wizz Air expands its Chisinau operations

Wizz Air has announced the allocation of a third aircraft to Chisinau. The new Airbus A320 will join the fleet in December, enabling the increase of frequencies of the airline’s existing 8 routes and the start of four new routes from Chisinau. Passengers can already plan their trips to picturesque Prague, beaches and sun in Larnaca, business and cultural centre in northern Italy – Turin or to South Yorkshire county in England.

Wizz started operations from Chisinau International Airport in 2013 and established a base there in March 2017.

LOT Polish Airlines to launch flights to Tokyo, will restore four routes

LOT Polish Airlines (Warsaw) has announced it will launch nonstop Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner flights from Warsaw to Tokyo (Narita) starting on January 13, 2016. The new route will operate three days a week.

In other news, according to Airline Route, the carrier will restore four routes to Belgrade, Chisinau, Yerevan and Zagreb in early January. These four routes were due to be dropped on July 1.

Air Moldova to relaunch Chisinau – Madrid flights

Air Moldova (Chisinau) expands its route network by relaunching the new nonstop flights on the Chisinau-Madrid-Chisinau route, starting on April 9, 2015.

The restored route will be operated once per week, on Thursdays, by Embraer-190 aircraft according to the following schedule:

Departure from Chisinau – 19:40 (local time)
Arrival to Madrid – 22:45 (local time)
Departure from Madrid – 00:40 (local time)
Arrival to Chisinau – 05:20 (local time)

Air Moldova is coming to Vienna

Air Moldova (Chisinau) expands its route network by launching a new nonstop route from Chisinau to Vienna starting on April 10, 2015. The Chisinau-Vienna-Chisinau flight will be operated three times a week, on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays with Embraer 190 aircraft.

Air Moldova is coming to Turin, Italy starting on December 16

Air Moldova (Chisinau) expands its route network with the launch of new nonstop flights on the Chisinau-Turin-Chisinau route, starting on December 16, 2014.

The new Chisinau-Turin-Chisinau flights will be operated twice a week, on Tuesdays and Saturdays with the Embraer 190 aircraft according to the following schedule (all times are local):

Departure from Chisinau – 1350
Arrival to Turin – 1510
Departure from Turin – 1600
Arrival to Chisinau – 1930

With the launch of the flight to Turin, the number of nonstop routes will reach 25 destinations: Antalya, Athens, Barcelona, Bodrum, Bologna, Bucharest, Dublin, Frankfurt, Heraklion, Istanbul, Kiev, Larnaca, Lisbon, London, Milan, Moscow, Nijnevartovsk, Paris, Rome, St. Petersburg, Sochi, Surgut, Turin, Venice and Verona.

For August 2014, Air Moldova set a new record. For the first time in its history, the company has managed to carry over 100,000 passengers or more exactly, 109,000 passengers during a month. This represents an increase of 58% over the same period in 2013.

Air Moldova has also managed to reach a market share at Chisinau International Airport of 53% in August or 10 percentage points more than last year.

Overall, for the first 8 months of the year, Air Moldova transported 524,000 passengers, an increase of 170,000 passengers (+ 48%) compared with the same period in 2013. ‎ At the same time, Air Moldova transported over 22,000 transfer passengers at Chisinau International Airport, an increase of 70 percent.

EuroLOT to start four new routes from Warsaw

EuroLOT (eurolot.com) (Warsaw) will start four new routes from Warsaw on October 26; Chisinau, Cluj/Napoca (October 27), Stuttgart and Zagreb per Airline Route.

Aeroflot to restore Moscow-Chisinau, Moldova service after 20 years

Aeroflot Russian Airlines (Moscow) will restore the Moscow (Sheremetyevo)-Chisinau, Moldova route on October 27 with daily Airbus A320 service according to Airline Route. The last Moscow (Vnukovo) – Chisinau/Kishinev service was operated in April 1994 according to the OAG. Moldova is one of the western border countries next to the Ukraine currently in the news.
