Aerolineas Argentinas now flies twice-daily to Madrid

Aerolineas Argentinas on July 1, 2019 started flying twice-daily to Madrid.

The carrier has added a noon departure from Buenos Aires with an Airbus A330-200.

This joins the other overnight flight which is now served daily by Airbus A340-300 aircraft.

AR has added 35 new routes and flights over the last three years.

Iberia to resume flights to San Juan, Puerto Rico

Iberia has announced it will resume seasonal flights to San Juan, Puerto Rico, from the Madrid hub starting on May 15, 2016. The restored route will operate three days a week with the new 242-ton Airbus A330-202.

Vueling Airlines outlines its expanded 2015 summer schedule

Vueling Airlines (Barcelona) will operate more than 60,000 flights between June and September, offering more than 11 million seats, a 13% percent increase over the same period in 2014.

Vueling now operates on 366 routes with a fleet of 100 aircraft and 3,000 flight personnel.

The fast-growing airline issued this outline for its summer schedule:

Vueling, the busiest airline at its Barcelona base, will make more than 60,000 flights and 366 routes in the summer season beginning on 15 June, its eleventh. It will offer a total of more than 11 million seats, 13% more than in 2014.

In the busy summer travel season the company will take off and land more than 700 times each day –an average of once every two minutes– at the 155 airports it serves.

Vueling’s fleet numbers some 100 Airbus A319s, A320s, and A321s which will log more than 62 million kilometers in Europe, the Middle East, and Africa this summer, with nearly 3,000 people making up its cockpit and cabin crews.

To meet the summer demand, Vueling will field flights crews totalling nearly 3,000 people, including 979 pilots and 1,974 cabin staff.

Vueling’s newest aircraft feature wingtip “sharklets” (above) and other features enhancing fuel efficiency and environmental protection.

The new Airbus A319s, A320s and A321s have been joining the fleet gradually since January, and are being named in the airline’s inimitable style: You’re the Vueling that I Want (EC-MEL); Keep Calm and Vueling (EC-MEQ); Vueling my best dream (EC-MER); Leonardo da Vueling (EC-MES); Vueling Topic (EC-MFK); Ich Bin Vuelinger (EC-MFL); Are you Vueling to me? 366 Routes, from Cape Verde to Moscow

Vueling will operate on a total of 366 routes to 155 cities in Europe, Africa, and the Middle East. New destinations this summer include Saragossa in Spain; Ancona and Trieste in Italy; the Algarve in Portugal; Manchester, Belfast and Birmingham in the UK; Rabat in Morocco; Accra in Ghana; and Moscow-Sheremetyevo in Russia.

Also noteworthy are the airline’s new direct routes to the islands of Lampedusa in Italy; Madeira in Portugal; Yerba in Tunisia; Sal in Cape Verde; and Corfu, Lemnos, Lesbos, Samos, Cephalonia and Zakynthos in Greece. Vueling flies to more islands than any other airline, reaching no fewer than 35 by direct flights from its hubs in Barcelona-El Prat and Rome-Fiumicino.

Air Moldova to relaunch Chisinau – Madrid flights

Air Moldova (Chisinau) expands its route network by relaunching the new nonstop flights on the  Chisinau-Madrid-Chisinau route, starting on April 9, 2015.

The restored route will be operated once per week, on Thursdays, by Embraer-190 aircraft according to the following schedule:

Departure from Chisinau – 19:40 (local time)
Arrival to Madrid – 22:45 (local time)
Departure from Madrid – 00:40 (local time)
Arrival to Chisinau – 05:20 (local time)

Emirates announces two new Airbus A380 destinations

Emirates (Dubai) announced today the launch of Airbus A380 services to two European destinations: Dusseldorf and Madrid.

The addition of Dusseldorf and Madrid to the list brings the total number of European gateways served by Emirates’ A380 to 13. Emirates currently has 57 A380s in its fleet, flying to 34 destinations globally and wowing customers everywhere it flies with its industry-leading onboard features.

As of July 1, flight EK 055 will be operated by an Airbus A380, leaving Dubai at 0830 and landing in Dusseldorf at 1325 the same day, while flight EK 056 will depart Dusseldorf at 1525 and arrive at Dubai International Airport at 2355 the same day.

As of August 1, flight EK 142 will be operated by an Airbus A380, leaving Madrid at 1530 and landing in Dubai at 0045 the following day. The return flight EK 141 departs Dubai at 0740 and arrives in Madrid at 1340 the same day.

The Emirates A380 offers a total of 519 seats in a three-class configuration, with 429 spacious seats in Economy Class on the main deck, 76 fully flat-bed mini-pods in Business Class and 14 First Class Private Suites on the upper deck.

Iberia to resume summer flights to Havana

Iberia (Madrid) is resuming summer seasonal service to Havana, Cuba with five weekly flights starting on June 1. The flag carrier will also operate three weekly flights on a Madrid – Medellin – Cali – Madrid routing commencing on July 3 per Airline Route. Both routes will operate with Airbus A330-300 equipment.

Norwegian announces three new routes

Norwegian Air Shuttle (Norwegian.com) (Oslo) has announced new weekly nonstop flights between Stockholm (Arlanda) and Bastia in Corsica starting on April 25. Additionally the airline will launch new twice-weekly nonstop flights between Madrid and Nice starting on March 29 as well as weekly flights between London (Gatwick) and Kefalonia in Greece on April 18.
