Azul receives permission to merge TRIP

Azul Linhas Aรฉreas Brasileirasย (Sao Paulo-Campinas) has received permission from Brazil’s Administrative Council for Economic Defense (CADE) to merge TRIP Linhas Aereas (Sao Paulo-Campinas).ย On March 6, 2013 Brazilian authorities gave the final approval for the merger with a few restrictions relating to code-sharing withย TAM (LATAM Group) (Sao Paulo)ย and slot use atย Rio de Janeiro (Santos Dumont Airport).

Previously on May 28, 2012, Azul announced it had purchased TRIP forming a new holding company until TRIP could be merged into the larger Azul.

Azul Linhas Aereas Brasileiras orders five more Embraer ERJ 195s

Azul Linhas Aereas Brasileiras (Sao Paulo-Viracopos) has ordered five additional Embraer ERJ 190-200 IGWs (ERJ 195s).

This order is already included inย Embraerโ€™s firm order backlog for the secondย quarter of 2010 as ย an โ€œUndisclosed customerโ€.The five Embraer 195 jets will beย delivered this year, and by December,ย Azul will have 26 E-Jets in its exclusivelyย Embraer fleet.

After adding in the 36 aircraft ordered inย March 2008 (five Embraer 190s and 31 Embraerย 195s), Azul now has a total of 41ย firm orders for Embraer jets.
