Finnair and Juneyao Air enter into a joint business partnership on the Helsinki-Shanghai route and beyond

Finnair and Shanghai-based Juneyao Air will enter to a joint business partnership on July 1, 2021, where the two carriers will cooperate commercially on flights between Helsinki and Shanghai as well points beyond in China and Europe.

Finnair andย Juneyaoย Air started a codeshare cooperation in July 2019, whenย Juneyaoย Air launched its Shanghai-Helsinki route. The joint business further deepens the partnership, providing corporate and leisure customers with more flexible routing options, attractive fares and enhanced benefits for frequent flyer members. Finnairโ€™s andย Juneyaoโ€™sย customers will benefit from more consistent customer policies for example with baggage allowances, integrated customer care and enhanced frequent flyer award point accrual across the two airlines.

Finnair andย Juneyaoย Airย currently operate 2 flights per week between Helsinki andย Shanghai andย look forward to increasing frequencies as soon as the pandemic situation allows. In 2019, Finnair andย Juneyaoย Air both operated daily flights between Helsinki and Shanghai.

Juneyaoโ€ฏAir launchedโ€ฏits route from Shanghai to Helsinki in July 2019, andโ€ฏsince then both Finnair andโ€ฏJuneyaoย have beenโ€ฏcodesharingย on each otherโ€™s Helsinki-Shanghai services and on selected connecting flightsโ€ฏfromโ€ฏHelsinkiโ€ฏto Europeโ€ฏandโ€ฏfromโ€ฏShanghai to other destinations in China.โ€ฏA reciprocalโ€ฏagreement for Finnair Plus andโ€ฏJuneyaoโ€ฏAir Club frequent flyer membersโ€ฏwas also implemented in August 2019, allowingโ€ฏcustomers to earn and redeem miles and points throughout each partnerโ€™s entire network.

Juneyao Air opens a new route to Helsinki

Juneyao Air on October 12 opened a new route from Zhengzhou to Helsinki.

Inaugural flight HO1665 from Zhengzhou on arrival at Helsinki received the tradition water cannon salute.

Finnair to deepen its cooperation with Juneyao Air

Finnair and Shanghai-basedย Juneyaoย Air have signed a Letter of Intent to deepen their cooperation between China and Europe subject to required regulatory approvals.

The aim isโ€ฏto establish a joint venture on the Helsinki โ€“ Shanghai route enabling Finnair andย Juneyaoย Air to offerย their corporate and leisureย customers a seamless travel experienceย through aย wider choice of destination,ย scheduleย and fareย optionsย viaย their main hubs,ย Helsinki Airportย (HEL)ย and Pudongย Internationalย Airport (PVG).

Juneyaoย Air launchedย its route from Shanghai to Helsinki in July 2019, andย since then both Finnair andย Juneyaoย Airย have beenย code sharing on each otherยดs Helsinki-Shanghai routes and on selected routesย fromย Helsinkiย to Europeย andย fromย Shanghai to other destinations in China.ย A reciprocalย agreement for Finnair Plus andย Juneyaoย Air Club memberย was also implemented in August 2019, allowingย customers to earn and redeem miles and points throughout each partnerโ€™s entire network.

Once implemented,ย theย joint venture cooperation willย enableย significant further expansionย ofย codesharingย across the networks of bothย partners, particularly to key points behind Shanghai Pudong and Helsinki, as well as the introduction ofย enhanced benefits for frequent travelers.

Juneyao Air’s fifth Boeing 787 Dreamliner features a special Chinese Floral livery

Juneyao Air has made this announcement and issued these photos on social media:

Our fifth Boeing 787 (registration B-20D1) featuring the Chinese Floral special livery, finished its test flight on August 23.

B-20D1 is due to be delivered at the end of August.

B-20D1 will serve domestic destinations in China starting in early September, but it will also operate intercontinental routes soon.

Finnair starts codeshare cooperation with Juneyao Air, extending its network in China

Finnair and the Shanghai-based Juneyao Air have agreed on a new codeshare cooperation on the route operated by Juneyao Air and Finnair between Helsinki and Shanghai Pudong International Airport (PVG), as well as on selected Juneyao routes in China and selected Finnair routes in Finland. The new codeshare agreement adds eight new destinations to Finnairโ€™s network in China.

From June 28, 2019 onwards Finnair customers can connect with Juneyao Air from Shanghai to Harbin, Shenyang, Dalian, Qingdao, Xiยดan, Chongqing, Kunming, Xiamen and Fuzhou. In addition, the Finnair code will be added on Juneyao Air routes between Nanjing and Xiยดan, Chongqing and Zhangjiajie. At the same time, Juneyao Air code will be added to Finnairยดs route between Shanghai and Helsinki, and to Finnairโ€™s domestic routes from Helsinki to Ivalo, Rovaniemi, Kemi, Kuopio and Oulu. The Finnish Lapland has become a popular destination for Chinese tourists.


These new codeshare flights can be booked from May 16, 2019.

In other news, Finnair yesterday celebrated the 50th anniversary of its first long-haul route to New York:

May 15 is the anniversary of our first long haul flight. We opened the route to New York 50 years ago. The flight to New York departed on May 15, 1969 at 10.30. The route anniversary was celebrated at Helsinki Airport.

Juneyao Airlines takes delivery of first Boeing 787 Dreamliner

Juneyao Airlines has taken delivery of its first Boeing 787 Dreamliner.

The first Boeing 787-9 (B-1115) was handed over at a ceremony at Paine Field on October 15, 2018.

Finally on October 19, 2018 made its formal announcement of the handover:

Boeing delivered the first 787-9 Dreamliner for Shanghai-based Juneyao Airlines. The new, super-efficient Dreamliner will also be the first widebody commercial jet operated by a privately-held Chinese airline.

Juneyao Airlines, previously an all-Airbus operator, mainly offers flights from Shanghai to more than 50 cities across China. In introducing the long-range 787 Dreamliner, the carrier is looking to expand its international network and increase flights to Southeast Asia, Japan and Korea.

The 787-9 is part of a family of three airplanes that offer long ranges and unmatched fuel efficiency in the 200 to 350 seat market. The 787-9 can carry 290 passengers and fly up to 7,635 nautical miles (14,140 km), while reducing fuel use and emissions by 20 to 25 percent compared to older airplanes. Passengers will appreciate a more comfortable flight thanks to the Dreamliner’s large windows, lower cabin altitude, smooth-ride technology, and other amenities.

Juneyao Air unveils its special liveries and cabins for its new Boeing 787 Dreamliners

Juneyao Air hasย announced the planned suite of services for its first Boeing 787 Dreamliner, including the ย promotional video “Dream a Journey; Share a Trip”, the fine design of the seats and cabin interiors, and the special liveries of the 787 fleet.

The array of unique service offerings is meant to demonstrate the superior features of the premium aircraft and how the airline stands unique and apart from its rivals with the mission of delivering Juneyao Air’s brand initiative “Warm Journey Beyond Imagination“.

Juneyao Air expects the theme of “Dream a Journey; Share a Trip” to become synonymous with the interior design of the Boeing 787 Dreamliner, transforming each flight into an auspicious start of or pleasing end to the dream voyage that the passenger is looking forward to or just concluding.

The airline plans to roll out a series of new service features in business class: 29 highly customized 1-2-1 configuration Thompson Vantage XL full-flat seats that give the passenger additional private personal space and ensure a more comfortable flight experience. Seats are designed with a gentleย massage feature, an adjustable multifunctional light source and a larger storage space. The airline’s mission is to create a more distinguished, fashionable and differentiated travel experience.

Economy class incorporates a 3-3-3 layout, making more efficient use of the wide-bodied aircraft’s space. Optimized cabin space planning and the highly acclaimed Recaro CL3710 seat delivers legroom up to 32 inches. Each seat is equipped with a next-generation Panasonic 12-inch high-definition personal entertainment system and a separate USB port. In addition, the seat headrest can be adjusted in nine directions, assuring a relaxed and refreshed passenger, even after a long flight. A next-generation high-flux on-board satellite communications system keeps the traveler constantly connected ย even while cruising at 30,000 feet.

Juneyao Air’ image as a carrier that puts the comfort of the passenger first can be felt everywhere in the design once one enters the cabin. The configuration management team has specially customized a blend of seven kinds of light and shadows which, in Chinese traditional thought, symbolizes good fortune for the cabin and all that is within, while, at the same time, delivering to passengers a relaxing, easy-on-the-eyes visual experience. ย Quentin Bisch, one of the famous perfumer from Givaudan, created a special fragrance exclusively for the airline, adding a pleasing aromatic scent to the comfortably decorated cabin. Besides, the onboard service also includes a selection of alcoholic drinks, custom-made meals and special afternoon teas.

The special liveries of Juneyao’s 787 fleet are bound to draw the attention of passengers as they board the aircraft. The first 787 will feature the”Chinese Peony” livery symbolizing good fortune. As China’s national flower, the peony stands for elegance, wealth and magnificence, which makes the flower a perfect fit with the airline’s brand image and vision for the future. Moreover, the “Chinese Peony” 787 echoes the existing “Chinese Peony” A320s that were painted in celebration of the company’s tenth anniversary, and marks Juneyao Air entry into a stage where both short- and long-haul flights have become part of the roadmap. Meanwhile, the second, the third and the fourth 787 will be painted the “Chinese Ribbon” livery. The idea of using Chinese red silk ribbons as the theme symbolizes the airline’s entry into a new era while representing its contribution to theย One Belt, One Roadinitiative and further realizing the continuous development and aviation dream of the company.

The first Boeing 787 is scheduled to be delivered in Seattle in mid-October.

Later the aircraft will service domestic routes between Shanghai and Shenzhen, Sanya, Chengdu and Chongqing.

Intercontinental flights by 787 from Shanghai are expected to be launched in 2019 and will further enhancehe airline’s globalization roadmap. Therefore Juneyao Air is ready to welcome the new Boeing 787 to its fleet. With the rapid development of the company, travelers are likely to spot more Juneyao flights connecting continents together, serving as an ambassador for Chinese culture, and to make every passengers’ dreams come true.
