NAC adds its first Boeing 767-300F freighter

NAC – Northern Air Cargo (Anchorage) has added its first Boeing 767-300F freighter. Boeing 767-323 ER N379CX (msn 25199) was formerly operated by American Airlines as N372AA. It was delivered to NAC on February 7, 2018. N379CX is based in Miami and is operated for StratAir.

Previously Air Transport Services Group, Inc. stated its subsidiary, Cargo Aircraft Management, had reached agreement with Northern Aviation Services, Inc. for the lease of three Boeing 767-300 freighters to be operated by subsidiary Northern Air Cargo. The aircraft will provide service to its cargo brands Aloha Air Cargo based in Hawaii, StratAir based in Florida, and Northern Air Cargo (NAC) based in Alaska.

Under the agreements, CAM is leasing three 767-300 freighters to Northern Aviation Services, Inc. for seven-year terms, beginning with the first lease in October 2017. The agreements also provide for the potential lease of additional 767-300s from CAM in 2018. These long-term lease placements will add to the already greater than 80 percent of CAM’s 767 fleet contracted under multi-year dry lease.

Some of the leased 767-300s will replace CAM-owned 767-200/300s currently operating on an ACMI basis under ATSG’s Wet-2-Dry program, which allows carriers to prove their business case for 767s under ACMI arrangements, then transition to long-term dry lease arrangements.

NAC orders 15 additional ATR aircraft for Silver Airways

Nordic Aviation Capital (NAC) is pleased to confirm that it has placed a firm order with ATR for 15 additional -600 series aircraft. The aircraft order, which marks NAC’s fourth with ATR since 2011, is particularly significant given that it commemorates the 100th new aircraft order that NAC has placed with the world’s leading regional aircraft manufacturer. It is further testament to the lessor’s commitment to strengthening its position as the global leader in the regional aircraft leasing space.

The purchase from ATR comprises 15 aircraft, 12 ATR 42-600s and three ATR 72-600s. These aircraft will be placed with Silver Airways, along with four 42-600’s and one 72-600 from NAC’s current orderbook. The first aircraft is due to deliver to Silver Airways in March 2018 with the remainder expected to deliver through to 2020. This order will bring NAC’s ATR fleet to over 200 aircraft and establishes NAC’s orderbook as the largest placed with any manufacturer to date.

NAC is delighted to include Silver Airways as a key member of its growing customer base and to further bolster the global footprint of its fleet. The brand-new ATR -600s will replace Silver Airways’ existing fleet of 21 Saab 340B turboprops while increasing the frequency of main routes and opening new air services to destinations in Florida, the southern United States and Caribbean. The advanced cockpit technology and new ergonomic design make it the prime choice for passengers and pilots of the airline.

Air New Zealand is planning to retire the last Boeing 737 in September

Air New Zealand (Auckland) is tentatively planning to retire its last Boeing 737 from revenue in September. The airline is planning to operate the last Boeing 737-300 revenue flight on September 6 as flight NZ 557 from Auckland to Christchurch according to Airline Route.

Air New Zealand and its associated companies have been a Boeing 737 operator since 1968. National Airways (New Zealand National Airways Corporation) (NAC) (Wellington) took delivery of Boeing 737-219 ZK-NAC (msn 19929) on August 29, 1968, followed by ZK-NAD (msn 19930) on September 11, 1968 and ZK-NAE (msn 19931) on October 5, 1968. NAC was taken over and merged into Air New Zealand on April 1, 1978. At that time ANZ became a Boeing 737 operator.

Nordic Aviation Capital (NAC), the largest regional aircraft trading and leasing company with the world’s biggest ATR fleet, has signed a total order for 75 ATR 42-600 aircraft, in a deal valued at over $1.55 billion. Deliveries will commence in 2015 through to 2020. By confirming this order for new ATR 42-600s – which includes 25 firm orders and 50 options for the type – NAC is once again demonstrating its full confidence in ATR – and this time, the smaller 50-seater ATR 42-600 series, in response to operator demand and recognizing that the replacement market for sub 50-seat turboprops is very under-served. The order builds on NAC’s long relationship with ATR and its ongoing success with regional airline operators worldwide.

Nordic Aviation Capital (NAC), the largest regional aircraft trading and leasing company with the world’s biggest ATR fleet, has signed a total order for 75 ATR 42-600 aircraft, in a deal valued at over US$1.55 billion. Deliveries will commence in 2015 through to 2020. By confirming this order for new ATR 42-600s – which includes 25 firm orders and 50 options for the type – NAC is once again demonstrating its full confidence in ATR – and this time, the smaller 50-seater ATR 42-600 series, in response to operator demand and recognizing that the replacement market for sub 50-seat turboprops is very under-served. The order builds on NAC’s long relationship with ATR and its ongoing success with regional airline operators worldwide.

With this new order, totaling 75 aircraft, signed today at a special ceremony at the 2014 Farnborough Airshow, NAC solidifies its position as ATR’s largest customer.

This landmark ATR order comes just one year after NAC signed an order for up to 90 ATR aircraft, a contract worth a total $2.1 billion at the Paris Air Show. This was followed by an add on order worth a total of $820 million of up to 35 ATR 600 series aircraft, announced during the ERA General Assembly in October 2013. Taking all NAC’s commitments (firm and options) into account the figure now rises to well over 200 new aircraft, as this major European lessor continues to expand its fleet to meet the need for short-haul turboprops, servicing the world’s growing regional aircraft fleet.

Northern Air Cargo leases its second Boeing 737-300 freighter

Northern Air Cargo-NAC (Anchorage) on June 18 leased its second Boeing 737-300 freighter. Boeing 737-301 (SF) N361NC (msn 23260) was formerly operated by Bluebird Cargo as TF-BBI.

GE Capital Aviation Services (GECAS), the commercial aircraft leasing and financing arm of GE, leased the freighter to NAC, a new customer for GECAS.

The aircraft will be used to upgrade and expand Northern Air Cargo’s fleet.

Privately held Northern Air Cargo operates scheduled freight service to destinations in Alaska and the Pacific Northwest as well as charter freight service to other locations throughout North America. The carrier operates a fleet of five cargo aircraft.
