JetBlue to introduce Mint service at Boston, will also add Boston-Nashville

JetBlue Airways (New York), already the largest airline in Boston, has announced plans to enhance service at Logan International Airport.

As part of the expansion, JetBlue will introduce Mint service to San Francisco and Los Angeles. JetBlue will also add Nashville as its 60th nonstop destination from Boston and will increase service frequency on more than a dozen existing routes to U.S. and Caribbean destinations.

Mint service will take off between Boston and San Francisco beginning in March 2016 with up to three daily roundtrips. Mint service to Los Angeles is set to begin in fall 2016 with up to three daily roundtrips.

Additionally, JetBlue will offer Mint seasonal service to the Caribbean beginning in March 2016 with a weekly Saturday roundtrip between Boston and Barbados, one of the airline’s most luxurious leisure destinations.

All customers traveling on the additional flights will benefit from JetBlue’s new Airbus A321 aircraft (above).

JetBlue also announced its intent to serve Nashville International Airport (BNA) from Boston with two daily roundtrips.

JetBlue also plans to launch daily nonstop service from Nashville to its Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood focus city. Service will begin in spring 2016.

All flights to Nashville will be operated on JetBlue’s Airbus A320 aircraft.

In addition, JetBlue will soon offer even more flights from Boston to 12 cities in its route network.

In January 2016, JetBlue will offer an average of 118 daily departures in its winter schedule with even more frequencies in the peak travel season – up to 140 daily departures in summer 2016. This is up from 54 average daily departures in 2008 when the airline began to significantly grow its presence in Boston.

The increase comes from a series of added flights on existing routes. Many of the flight frequency additions will be to JetBlue’s Florida and Caribbean focus cities and to other popular destinations in these regions. Additional flights are being added to the following destinations in the U.S. JetBlue network:

Additional daily flights between Boston and:

Orlando, Ft, Lauderdale, Tampa, San Juan, Raleigh/Durham, New York (JFK) and Cleveland

Additional weekend flights between Boston and:

Barbados (d), Aruba, Cancun, Turks and Caicos, Punta Cana, St. Maarten and Liberia, Costa Rica.

JetBlue has helped connect more international carriers in Boston through agreements with 15 carriers. El Al to Tel Aviv and Hainan Airlines to Shanghai are two of the newest routes. Emirates also plans to introduce a second daily flight to Dubai this fall.

Over the last three years JetBlue has attracted five new international partners to Boston including El Al, Emirates, Hainan Airlines, Qatar Airways and Turkish Airlines.

JetBlue’s impressive list of airline partnerships grew from its very first agreement with Massachusetts-based Cape Air in 2007. Cape Air is one of the largest independent regional carriers in the U.S. and enhances the JetBlue network with easy connections from San Juan and Boston to destinations in Cape Cod and the Caribbean.

Vacation Express to expand its relationship with Interjet

Vacation Express has announced an expanding partnership with Interjet (Mexico City). The travel company continued:

This announcement comes after Vacation Express and Interjet completed a very successful winter travel season, departing from Cleveland, Columbus, Nashville, Newark and Pittsburgh. The two newest gateways for Interjet departures are Richmond and Charlotte that recently started on Monday, April 6 and Raleigh/Durham that will begin on June 14. These weekly, exclusive nonstop flights will continue through the summer and some are extended through the fall for travelers to visit destinations in Mexico.

Vacation Express, part of Sunwing Travel Group Inc., has been in existence for over 25 years and offers vacation packages to over 35 destinations in the Caribbean, Mexico and Costa Rica. The charter flights are operated by Sunwing Airlines, AeroMexico, Swift Air, LLC, Interjet, Xtra Airways and Volaris.

Alaska Airlines continues to build up the SeaTac hub with new routes to Charleston, Nashville and Raleigh/Durham

Alaska Airlines (Seattle/Tacoma) is growing again its SeaTac hub with new nonstop service from its Seattle/Tacoma hub to Charleston, South Carolina (connecting the two Boeing 787 assembly areas), Nashville, Tennessee and Raleigh/Durham, North Carolina beginning in the fall of 2015.

By this fall, Seattle’s largest airline will serve 83 destinations from Seattle/Tacoma with 290 peak daily flights—two-and-a half times that of Alaska’s nearest competitor.

Flights will be operated by fuel-efficient Next Generation 737 aircraft.

Appalachian Air to start operations on October 27

Appalachian Air (Pikesville, KY) is a new passenger airline based in eastern Kentucky. The company will launch operations on October 27 on the Pikesville-Nashville route with 19-seat BAe Jetstream 32 aircraft operated by Corporate Flight Management (Smyrna, TN) dba Appalachian Air. Corporate Flight Management is the largest Jetstream operator in the United States. All flights are operated as public charters and are marked by Public Charters.

The airline describes its operations:

Appalachian Air is America’s newest air service – linking Eastern Kentucky, Southwestern Virginia and Southwestern West Virginia to the global air system via Nashville, TN. Appalachian Air, starting on October 27, 2014, provides daily roundtrip nonstop service between Pikeville – Pike County Regional Airport (PVL) and Nashville International Airport (BNA). Appalachian Air flights connect to flights operated by each of the airlines serving BNA (Air Canada, American Airlines, Delta Air Lines, Frontier Airlines, SeaPort Airlines, Southwest Airlines, United Airlines, and US Airways) to more than 50 nonstop destinations, such as Atlanta, Chicago, Dallas/Fort Worth, Houston, Los Angeles, New York and Washington, D.C.

Appalachian Air flies the sleek British Aerospace Jetstream J32 turboprop aircraft. The Jetstream J32 holds 19 passengers in a pressurized, stand-up cabin with comfortable leather seating. This high performance aircraft can cruise as high as 25,000 feet at a speed of 265 MPH with two pilots.

All flights between Pikeville and Nashville are public charter flights, operated by Corporate Flight Management dba as Appalachian Air, which serves as the Direct Carrier and Public Charters, Inc., which serves as the Indirect Carrier, in accordance with 14 CFR Part 380 and are regulated by the United States Department of Transportation.

Corporate Flight Management (CFM), which handles all of the flying aspects of Appalachian Air’s Pikeville – Nashville service, is the largest operator of Jetstream J32 aircraft in the U.S. and is based in Smyrna, TN. CFM holds the prestigious ARGUS Platinum safety rating – the highest award in its industry. CFM has a $2.2 million parts inventory to support J32 operations and provides heavy maintenance service for worldwide operators of the J32 at its Smyrna facility.

Public Charters, Inc. (PC) handles all of the non-flying aspects of Appalachian Air’s Pikeville – Nashville service – such as ticket sales, aircraft ground handling, baggage handling, etc. – under its P1 code which is authorized by the International Air Transport Association (IATA) and is based in Avoca, PA. PC has distribution rights on certain Global Distribution Systems (GDS) such as Amadeus and Sabre. PC also has distribution rights on all of the leading online ticket distribution systems, such as Priceline.com.

Frontier to expand operations at Trenton, New Jersey with new routes to Cleveland, Indianapolis and Nashville

Frontier Airlines (2nd) (Denver) has announced it will expand its low-fare service at Trenton-Mercer Airport (TTN), in Ewing, New Jersey, with the addition of nonstop service to Cleveland, Ohio, beginning on February 13, 2014; Indianapolis, Indiana beginning on April 29, 2014; and Nashville, Tennessee beginning on April 30, 2014.

Frontier is the only airline providing scheduled service out of Trenton-Mercer Airport, the gateway to New Jersey’s state capital, all of central New Jersey, and Southeast Pennsylvania, including metro Philadelphia.

The addition of these three cities brings Frontier’s total nonstop destinations served from Trenton-Mercer Airport to 14:
