Alaska Airlines continues to build up the SeaTac hub with new routes to Charleston, Nashville and Raleigh/Durham

Alaska Airlines (Seattle/Tacoma) is growing again its SeaTac hub with new nonstop service from its Seattle/Tacoma hub to Charleston, South Carolina (connecting the two Boeing 787 assembly areas), Nashville, Tennessee and Raleigh/Durham, North Carolina beginning in the fall of 2015.

By this fall, Seattle’s largest airline will serve 83 destinations from Seattle/Tacoma with 290 peak daily flightsโ€”two-and-a half times that of Alaska’s nearest competitor.

Flights will be operated by fuel-efficient Next Generation 737 aircraft.

Alaska Airlines to launch nonstop Seattle/Tacoma – New York (JFK) service, files to serve Mexico from Orange County

Alaska Airlines (Seattle/Tacoma) is launching daily nonstop service from Seattle/Tacoma to New York’s John F. Kennedy International Airport starting on September 16. The new service complements Alaska’s existing twice-daily service to Newark Liberty International Airport.

Alaska will operate Boeing Next-Generation 737 aircraft on the route.

In other news,ย Alaska Airlines submitted its application today to begin two nonstop service from Orange County, California, to Los Cabos and Puerto Vallarta, Mexico. The flights are pending approval by the U.S. Department of Transportation and the Mexico Direccion General de Aeronautica Civil (DGAC).

The planned year-round service will operate thrice-weekly between Orange County and Puerto Vallarta and four-times weekly between Orange County and Los Cabos.

Alaska Airlines began flying to Puerto Vallarta and Los Cabos more than 25 years ago. Today, the carrier operates 36 weekly peak-season flights to Puerto Vallarta and 50 weekly peak-season flights to Los Cabosโ€”more than any other carrier from California.

Snowbird Airlines is a new airline in Finland, prepares to launch flights this summer

Snowbird Airlines Ltd (Helsinki) is a new Finnish charter airline. The company will focus on serving the needs of tour operators and travel agencies and intends to operate flights to Egypt, Turkey, Greece and the other parts of the Mediterranean from Finland.

However the new airline is taking a new approach. The company wants to display Finnish products and invites Finnish businesses and designers to showcase their products.

The attractive logo was designed by Sami Wirkkala and will have a Finnish sister brand of “lumilintu” (Snowbird in Finnish).

The new airline plans to launch operations this summer with a single Airbus A320.
