Sichuan Airlines now links western China with Sydney, Australia

Sichuan Airlines (Chengdu) on December 20 launched aย new service from Chengdu and Chongqing to Sydney.

Sichuan Airlines will operate twice weekly flights from Chengdu-Chongqing to Sydney on its Airbus A330-200 aircraft.

Sydney Airport now has 94 weekly flights from nine carriers to greater China, with five carriers offering 46 services to mainland Chinese cities including Beijing, Chengdu, Chongqing, Guangzhou, Nanjing and Shanghai.

Sichuan Airlines receives its first Airbus A321 with Sharklets

Sichuan Airlines (Chengdu), the largest all Airbus operator in China, took delivery of its first A321 aircraft equipped with Sharklets fuel saving wing tip devices on September 26. The pictured A321-231 B-9967 (msn 5470) will also be the first A321 with Sharklets to be operated in China. The A321, powered by IAE V2500 engines, features a comfortable two class cabin, seating 194 passengers with 8 in business class and 186 in economy.

Sichuan Airlines is Chinaโ€™s largest all Airbus operator. It introduced an A320 in 1995 to become the first Chinese airline to operate an Airbus fly-by-wire aircraft. It was also the first airline to operate Airbus A321 in China. In 2009, the airline received the first A320 assembled at the Airbus Tianjin Final Assembly.

At the end of August 2013, Sichuan Airlines operated a fleet of six A330s and 75 A320 Family aircraft.

Sichuan Airlines takes delivery of its first Airbus A320 with Sharklets

Sichuan Airlines (Chengdu), the largest all Airbus fleet operator in China, has taken delivery of its first A320 aircraft equipped with Sharklets.

The A320, powered by IAE V2500 engines, features a comfortable two class cabin, seating 164 passengers with eight in business class and 156 in economy.

Sichuan Airlines was also the first Chinese airline to operate the A320, the first to take delivery of an A320 assembled at Airbusโ€™ Tianjin Final Assembly Line, and now one of the first with Sharklets in China.

Sichuan Airlines is Chinaโ€™s largest all Airbus fleet operator. It introduced an A320 in 1995 to become the first Chinese airline to operate an Airbus fly-by-wire aircraft. In 2009, the airline received the first A320 assembled at the Airbus Final Assembly Line China (FALC) in Tianjin. Now it operates a fleet of five A330s and 70 A320 Family aircraft.

Sichuan Airlines to open a new route to Vancouver on June 22

Sichuan Airlines (Chengdu) will open a new route from Chengdu in western China to Vancouver, BC via Shenyang on June 22. The new route will be operated three days a week with Airbus A330-200s.

Sichuan Airlines is planning long-range flights to Vancouver, Amsterdam and Melbourne

Sichuan Airlines (Chengdu) is planning to launch new long-range flights in 2012 from Chengdu to Vancouver (April), Amsterdam (June) and Melbourne (late 2012) with Airbus A330-200s according to this report by CAPA.

Sichuan Airlines orders 20 COMAC C919s

Sichuan Airlines (Chengdu) has signed a firm order for 20 COMAC C919s. This brings the total for firm orders to 105.

Hebei Airlines commences operations on June 29

Hebei Airlines (Shijiazhuang) is the new airline of Hebei Province in China. The new airline launched scheduled passenger operations on June 29 using the assets of defunct Northeast Airlines (Dongbei Air) (Shenyang) per this report from ATW. The airline operates one Airbus A319-132 (B-6170, msn 2396) and two Embraer ERJ 145 regional jets (B-3040, msn 145317 and B-3041, msn 145349) on domestic routes from Shijiazhuang to Chengdu, Guilin, Hohhot, Qinhuangdao and Shanghai.

Northeast Airlines previously commenced operations on November 1, 2007 and was a joint venture between Sichuan Airlines (33.5%) and local interests. The aircraft were leased from and operated by Sichuan Airlines.

Sichuan Airlines plans to launch Hebei Airlines with the assets of Dongbei Air

Sichuan Airlines (Chengdu) intends to launch Hebei Airlines (Shijiazhuang) on June 29 using the assets of subsidiary Dongbei Air according to this report in ATW. Dongbei Air commenced operations in February 2006 and Sichuan Airlines recently increased it share in the troubled airline to a controlling interest.

Sichuan Airlines (Chengdu) had the honor of accepting the first Chinese-built Airbus A320 from Tianjin. Airbus A320-232 B-6388 (msn 3591) is painted in this special “Chines Dragon” color scheme.
