Lufthansa Cargo (formerly German Cargo) (Frankfurt) on its website has introduced a new tracking service using FlightRadar 24 that shows you in real time where each of their aircraft and flights are located.

Lufthansa Cargo takes delivery of its first Boeing 777F freighter, will enter service on November 19 to New York

Lufthansa Cargo (Frankfurt) finally accepted its first Boeing 777F freighter, the pictured 777-FBT D-ALFA (msn 41674) on November 8. D-ALFA arrived at the Frankfurt base the following day. The new freighter will enter revenue cargo service on November 19 with nonstop service to New York (JFK).

Lufthansa Cargo needs your help to name its first new Boeing 777F freighter

Lufthansa Cargo (Frankfurt) in October will be welcoming its first new Boeing 777F freighter in Frankfurt. The cargo airline is asking for your help in naming the aircraft. The carrier is now conducting a contest to name the plane. According to the airline, “the winner will be present at the test flight of our first Boeing 777F in Frankfurt. Get involved and be creative! Perhaps our fleet will soon bear your name. Name the plane!”

Lufthansa Cargo (Frankfurt) may sell off its McDonnell Douglas MD-11F freighter fleet should a recently imposed ban on night flights at the Frankfurt Airport be confirmed by a court in Leipzig on April 4 according to this report by Reuters citing a German magazine.

Lufthansa Cargo finalizes its order for 5 Boeing 777F freighters

Lufthansa Cargo (Frankfurt) has finalized an order for five Boeing 777 Freighters. The freighters will help Lufthansa Cargo in its initiative to modernize and expand its fleet. Lufthansa Cargo previously indicated its intention to order the freighters in March 2011.

AeroLogic, a joint venture of Lufthansa Cargo and DHL Express, became the fourth carrier to operate the 777 Freighter in May 2009.

Including this order from Lufthansa Cargo, a total of 88 777 Freighters have been ordered, of which 39 have been delivered.

Lufthansa Cargo currently operates 18 McDonnell Douglas MD-11F freighters.

In the 2010 financial year, the airline transported around 1.8 million tons of freight and mail and logged 8.9 billion revenue ton-kilometres. Lufthansa Cargo currently employs about 4,500 people, worldwide. Lufthansa Cargo focuses on the airport-to-airport business. The cargo carrier serves some 300 destinations in more than 100 countries in a dense network spanning the globe. Aside from operating its own freighter aircraft, it utilises the belly space on passenger aircraft operated by Lufthansa and Austrian Airlines as well as the capacities available in an extensive road feeder service network.

Lufthansa Cargo’s (Frankfurt) McDonnell Douglas MD-11F D-ALCQ (msn 48431) crashed on landing at Riyadh today (July 27). The freighter caught on fire as it was landing, crashed and split into two sections. The pilot and the first officer were slightly injured and were taken to the hospital.

AeroLogic takes delivery of first Boeing 777-FZN

AeroLogic (Leipzig) took delivery of its first (of eight) new Boeing 777-FZN (D-AALA, msn 36001) on May 12 via Deucalion Capital. The new cargo airline is a joint venture between Lufthansa Cargo and DHL Express and is expected to launch operations in the coming weeks.
