WestJet today announced it has expanded its codeshare relationship with Qantas by placing its WS code and flight numbers on QANTAS-operated flights between Los Angeles and Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane.
Itineraries connecting the growing WestJet network to these Australian destinations are available today for purchase on all WestJet sales channels for flights starting December 6, 2018.
WestJet and QANTAS have been codeshare partners since 2014 and the airlines have offered QANTAS Frequent Flyer and WestJet Rewards members the ability to earn and redeem loyalty rewards since 2017. Travellers will also continue to enjoy one-stop check-in and baggage transfers to their final destination.
WestJet operates flights from Vancouver, Calgary, Edmonton and Toronto to Los Angeles. The WS code will be added on QANTAS’ daily flights between Los Angeles and Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane and its seasonal service between Vancouver and Sydney.

WestJet has served Halifax International Airport for 15 years and this summer will operate non-stop service to 16 cities including London (Gatwick), Paris, Dublin, Glasgow, Toronto, Vancouver and Calgary. At peak summer schedule, the airline will operate more than 25 flights per day from YHZ.

WestJet has announced it is expanding choice and connectivity for Calgarians when the airline begins operations between Calgary International Airport (YYC) and HartsfieldโJackson Atlanta International Airport (ATL) next spring.
WestJet will be the only airline flying nonstop from Calgary to ATL, the world’s largest airline hub โ home of Delta Air Lines, a WestJet codeshare partner since 2011. Together with Delta, via Hartsfield–Jacksonairport WestJet will offer codeshare access to an extensive list of U.S. destinations including the southeastern United States and Gulf Coast and cities such as Memphis, Tenn., Charleston, S.C., New Orleans, La., Savannah, Ga., Pensacola and Panama City, Fla.
Starting March 3, 2019, WestJet will fly six times weekly between Calgary and Atlanta, moving to daily on April 7, 2019. WestJet serves more destinations from Calgary with more flights than any other airline. This this new route is another investment in the airport, city, and region.

WestJet is Calgary’s largest airline, and by June 2019, will offer flights to 65 non-stop destinations with an average of 1,100 flights per week from YYC. Last month, WestJet announced its launching its first three Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner international destinations from Calgary in 2019 including; London(Gatwick), Paris and Dublin.
WestJet’s Dreamliners will carry 320 guests in a three-class cabin configuration including the airline’s newly revealed Business cabin featuring 16 private pods with lie-flat seats, an upscale Premium cabin and an updated Economy cabin.
In other news,ย WestJet also announced it will be adding Barcelona to its growing presence in Europe with three-times weekly, nonstop service between Toronto and Barcelona starting May 24, 2019 through October 21, 2019.
WestJet today announced its third quarter results for 2018, with net earnings of $45.9 million, or $0.40 per fully diluted share. This result compares with net earnings of $135.9 million, or $1.15 per fully diluted share reported in the third quarter of 2017. Year-to-date, WestJet recorded net earnings of $62.3 million, or $0.54 per fully diluted share.

In other news,ย WestJet today announced the addition of nonstop service from St. John’s to Fort Lauderdale/Hollywood this winter. Service is available on a limited basis and starts March 11, 2019 through May 13, 2019.

WestJet today announced that it’s connecting Alberta to the world as it launches its first three Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner international destinations from Calgary. WestJet becomes the first Canadian airline to base its Dreamliner aircraft out of YYC Calgary International Airport.
WestJet is launching nonstop service on board its Dreamliners from Calgary to London (Gatwick), Paris and Dublin on April 28, May 17 and June 1, 2019, respectively.

The international scheduled service between Calgary and London (Gatwick), Paris and Dublin will support 650 full-time jobs and $100 million in total economic output. This is in addition to WestJet’s yearly economic output of more than $5 billion, that supports more than 32,000 direct and indirect jobs in Alberta.ย Overall WestJet’s national economic impact on Canada annually generates $17.4 billion and supports more than 153,000ย jobs.*
The three new flights from the UK and Western Europe are expected to eventually bring up to 185,000 visitors to Calgary on a yearly basis, helping also increase local tourism.
The first of 10 Boeing 787-9 Dreamliners ordered by WestJet will arrive in Calgary early in 2019, with two more arriving by April. The aircraft will operate on domestic flights for crew training and regulatory compliance before the first scheduled international flight in April. WestJet also has options for an additional 10 aircraft to arrive between 2020 and 2024. Hub locations and routes for the remaining seven aircraft have not yet been announced.

WestJet today unveiled its refreshed brand including a national advertising campaign, its first three international Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner routes and a new Platinum WestJet Rewards tier at an event in downtown Calgary.
Ed Sims, WestJet President and CEO, was joined for the announcement by Canadian community and business leaders.
The refreshed brand image outlines WestJet’s global ambitions and heralds new products aimed at international and Premium travellers. ย Called,ย Love Where You’re Going, the new WestJet commercial is seen below.
“Today’s announcement marks a pivotal time for WestJet,” said Ed Sims, WestJet President and CEO. “Love where you’re going embodies both the thrill of travel and the sheer ambition we at WestJet have for our airline. Our 13,000 WestJetters are unique assets, and what we deliver for our 24 million guests is something that cannot be replicated.”
Guests will start to see the updated brand image and positioning reflected in many of WestJet’s assets including westjet.com, WestJet’s airport presence over time across Canada and gradually across the fleet.
In addition to the announcement of the brand refresh, Sims also revealed today in Calgary that WestJet will launch its first three 787 Dreamliner non-stop routes from Calgary to Paris, Dublin and London to become the first Canadian airline to base its Dreamliner aircraft out of YYC Calgary International Airport. Both announcements will have substantial beneficial economic impacts on the Alberta region.
Finally, as part of the new WestJet, Sims also announced that WestJet Rewards will introduce a new Platinum tier, making it easier for WestJet Rewards members to get even more value from the frequent flyer program as the airline heads global. Juliet, named after one of WestJet’s original aircraft, uses reinforcement learning allowing the chatbot to learn the way humans do, with a combination of instruction, examples, and experience, leading to better responses over time. WestJet will continue to add more functionality, features and capabilities to Juliet including availabilityย on different platforms and voice interaction.
WestJet today announced that it will maintain nonstop service between Edmonton and Las Vegas with four weekly flights starting October 11, 2018. Flights will operate Mondays, Thursdays, Fridays and Sundays.

WestJet, the airline offering more flights to more destinations from Calgary than any other, will offer guests a new route to escape the cold this winter when the airline starts twice-weekly, nonstop service between Calgary International Airport (YYC) and Sangster International Airport (MBJ) in Montego Bay, Jamaica. The service begins on November 3, 2018.
The new route is part of WestJet’s seasonal schedule for winter 2018/2019, which includes more flights from Calgary to domestic, transborder, international and sun destinations including Maui, Phoenix, Las Vegas, Orlando, Huatulco, Puerto Vallarta and Belize, among others.
