Allegiant acquires three former Hamburg Airways Airbus A320s

Allegiant Travel Company (Allegiant Air) (Las Vegas) has announced that it has purchased three additional Airbus A320 aircraft. The aircraft were most recently operated by Hamburg Airways in Europe and are scheduled to enter the Allegiant operating fleet in 2015.

Specially the three aircraft are N227NV (msn 714, ex D-AHHH, N228NV (msn 716, ex D-AHHD) and N229NV (msn 730, ex D-AHHG).

On the financial side, the company reported first quarter net income of $64.9 million, up 89.8 percent from the same quarter a year ago.

The CEO commented on the results:

“We are very proud to report our 49th consecutive profitable quarter, a record quarter for the company, both in absolute terms and on a percentage basis,” stated Maurice J. Gallagher, Jr., Chairman and CEO of Allegiant Travel Company. “I especially want to thank our team members for their contributions. Their everyday efforts delivering customers safely and reliably is critical to our continued success. It’s nice to start the year off with such strong results after coming off one of the most operationally challenging years in recent memory.

“I’m also pleased to announce our pilots will be receiving a pay increase as a result of our continued success. Excluding a $43.3 million non-cash impairment change in the fourth quarter of 2014, our trailing twelve month operating margin was 21.8 percent as of March 31st. As part of our pilots’ variable pay band structure, pilot pay scales will increase between 5 and 7 percent per hour effective May 1st.

Finally CEO Gallagher commented on the on-going dispute with its pilots and additional focus by the FAA:

“And lastly we have had recent labor/legal issues with the representative of our pilots, the IBT. We expect a successful outcome on our Preliminary Injunction request before the Las Vegas Federal court in the coming weeks. In conjunction with these labor activities, our local FAA office has stepped up surveillance of our operations. We are not aware of any findings from the FAA related to this increased surveillance. However, the FAA has indicated their heightened focus and surveillance associated with the labor activity will continue until the outcome of the litigation is known. While this increased surveillance is in place, the FAA has indicated it will not process any current or additional requests for work that may relate to our planned growth. At the current time, we do not expect any immediate effect on our operations.”

Allegiant Air to add four more Airbus A320s

Allegiant Travel Company (Allegiant Air) (Las Vegas) has announced that it has entered into an agreement to purchase four additional Airbus A320 aircraft. The aircraft are currently being operated in Europe and are scheduled to enter the Allegiant operating fleet in 2017.

The airline continued:

“We are active in the used Airbus A320 market and will engage in transactions that make economic sense for the company,” said Jude Bricker, Senior Vice President of Planning. “These aircraft will help us maintain our desired growth rate into 2017 and provide us with additional high quality A320 aircraft. It is also another demonstration of our ability to grow the fleet while still providing returns to shareholders such as our recently announced $0.25 per share recurring quarterly cash dividend and the $86 million remaining in our share repurchase authority,” concluded Bricker.

These aircraft are expected to begin service in the second half of 2017. The purchase of the aircraft will take place upon delivery in 2017 and will not impact 2015 CAPEX, which is still expected to be $175 to $185 million.

Allegiant Air brings excitement to Make-A-Wish kids

Allegiant Air (Las Vegas) in support of the Make-A-Wish charity has issued this statement and video:

Allegiant Make-A-Wish logo

Allegiant Air is helping Make-A-Wish® grant wishes by providing travel for 33 wish kids this holiday season — kids like 5-year old Jaylen, who was diagnosed with leukemia and wished to go to the Florida theme parks. The travel company, which provides air travel and send-off celebrations for Make-A-Wish kids, has flown over 150 wish kids like Jaylen to their wish destinations in 2014 alone. To expand its efforts to help grant wishes, the company will also be matching dollar for dollar employee donations, up to $5,000, from now until Jan. 31, 2015.

Jaylen’s Make-A-Wish experience with Allegiant began with a warm welcome at the airport. Jaylen and his family were greeted by Allegiant employees at the Central Illinois Regional Airport in Bloomington, Ill. and treated to a special send-off celebration. Jaylen’s wish experience can be viewed above.

Over 70 percent of wishes require air travel. Since May 2012, Allegiant has donated travel to over 250 wish kids and their families and over $250,000 in cash sponsorships.

Since May 2012, Allegiant has been a proud supporter of Make-A-Wish®, a nationwide charity that grants the wishes of children with life-threatening medical conditions to enrich the human experience with hope, strength and joy. Wishes can often have a transformative impact on wish kids, providing the positive mental and emotional boost needed to help them deal with and, oftentimes, overcome their illness.

By establishing Make-A-Wish as its primary charity, Allegiant provides wish travel to families in the communities it serves. We’re committed to provide air travel for wish families – the organization’s most critical resource – for another six years. Since beginning its support of Make-A-Wish, Allegiant has donated over 250 wish flights to wish families and more than $250,000 in cash sponsorships.

Allegiant supports World Wish Day with $1 donations for every booking today

Allegiant A320-200 N218NV (13-Make-A-Wish)(Check) SFB (Allegiant)(LR)

Allegiant Air (Las Vegas) will celebrate World Wish Day by donating $1 to Make-A-Wish®, up to $10,000, for every itinerary booked with the airline today (Tuesday, April 29). The company recently celebrated the donation of its 100th Make-A-Wish® flight since teaming up with Make-A-Wish in May of 2012.

“Allegiant is thrilled to provide additional resources to the charity through our World Wish Day donation campaign and is honored to have provided air travel for 100 inspiring Make-A-Wish families,” said Andrew C. Levy, Allegiant Travel Company President and Chief Operating Officer. “Allegiant team members are passionate about making vacation possible for the 99 communities that we serve. Our ongoing relationship with Make-A-Wish expands on that mission by making more wish trips possible for the families helped by Make-A-Wish.”

The 100th wish flight recipients, Jonea, age 5, and Takiya, age 17, and their families, travelled with Allegiant from Rockford, Ill. to Orlando on April 7, for a week-long, magical wish experience. Both the Chicago-Rockford Airport (RFD) and Orlando Sanford International Airport (SFB) hosted celebratory parties for the families. To watch their life-changing wish trip journey visit: http://gofly.us/wf0n3.

Air travel is a critical resource for Make-A-Wish, with three out of every four wishes requiring air travel. Allegiant’s first Make-A-Wish flight took place in August of 2012, and the company currently averages six Make-A-Wish flights per month. This World Wish Day initiative will provide additional resources to the charity while offering customers the company’s best travel deals.

“We are extremely happy to team up with Allegiant as they continue to help us grant wishes that help wish kids feel better, and in some cases, get better,” said David Williams, president and CEO of Make-A-Wish America. “This relationship allows wish kids and their families in cities of all sizes to travel directly to incredible wish destinations throughout the country for their wish.”

Since teaming up with Make-A-Wish in May of 2012, Allegiant has provided more than $250,000 worth of donated wish travel for 100 families traveling to their wish destinations and more than $150,000 in cash sponsorships for Make-A-Wish events across the country. The airline also commemorated their relationship with the charity by painting a newly acquired Airbus A320 aircraft with a Make-A-Wish-branded livery and continues to donate $1 from every inflight purchase of their Wingz Kids Snack Pack to the organization. With service in nearly 100 communities, including popular family vacation destinations such as Orlando, Southern California and Hawaii, Allegiant is looking forward to continuing to support the life-changing efforts of Make-A-Wish.
