South African Airways to weigh 4,000 passengers

South African Airways (Johannesburg) will survey and weigh 4,000 passengers and their carry-on luggage to determine a new average to avoid any weight and balance issues.

Qatar Airways completes first natural gas flight

Qatar Airways (Doha) today operated the first commercial flight powered by natural gas. Airbus A340-642X A7-AGC (msn 766) successfully completed a flight between London (Gatwick) and Doha. A7-AGC carried special stickers for the event (any photos?). The country of Qatar has one of the largest reserves of natural gas in the world.

Virgin Atlantic Airways (London) has long opposed any closer relationship between British Airways and American Airlines, saying it is anti-competitive. As you would expect, Virgin Atlantic has publicly stated it welcomes the same concerns expressed by the European Commission although it has not yet seen the details.
