Bhutan Airlines to start Paro – Mumbai service

Bhutan Airlines (Paro) is planning to commence a new route from Paro to Mumbai starting on October 13, 2018.

The route will operate seasonally on a weekly basis until November 17, 2018 according to Airline Route.

Croatia Airlines starts service to Dublin, could be facing a strike

Croatia Airlines today (August 3) started flights between Zagreb and Dublin. The new route will operate through October 25.

The new route will operate two days a week with Airbus A319s.

However the airline could be facing a strike on August 8 by the ORCA trade union.

Lufthansa announces six new winter destinations from Frankfurt and Munich

Lufthansa is expanding its schedule from Frankfurt and Munich to include six new to destinations.

Lufthansa now flies from Frankfurt and Munich to Eilat (Ovda) (above), the attractive holiday resort on the Red Sea in the south of Israel. If you’ve had enough of winter and snow, Lufthansa will take you to this sunshine paradise four times a week (Thursdays and Sundays from Frankfurt and Tuesdays and Saturdays from Munich).

Starting this winter, Lufthansa will fly to Agadir (Morocco) (above) every Monday and Saturday from Frankfurt and every Sunday from Munich. Agadir is located on the southern Atlantic coast of Morocco, in the foothills of the Anti-Atlas mountains. The capital of the province of Agadir Ida-Ou Tanane is a popular holiday destination featuring golf courses and endless beaches.

Trieste (Italy), the capital of the Friuli-Venezia Giulia in the north-east of Italy, is considered one of the literary capitals of Europe, and its many ethnic and religious groups have earned it the moniker of ‘early New York’. From the start of the winter, you can fly there with Lufthansa twelve times a week departing from Frankfurt.

From winter 2018, Lufthansa once again offers flights to Thessaloniki (Greece) from Frankfurt. The town is the ideal starting point for hikes and explorations of the north of Greece, and it is the transit airport for onward travel to Chalkidiki in the south east.

Edinburgh (United Kingdom) is the new European destination from Munich. From December 2018, Lufthansa will fly to the Scottish capital on Tuesdays and Saturdays, in addition to the existing Frankfurt route. Edinburgh not only has an interesting old town, it is also the perfect starting point for visiting the Highlands.

Munich is also the starting point for another new destination, Tromsø (Norway) (above). The city is an important cultural centre north of the Arctic Circle and is regarded as an ideal starting point for experiencing the Northern Lights. An Airbus A319 flies to this Norwegian city every Thursday and Saturday. These flights also depart from Frankfurt.

LAM and fastjet sign memorandum of understanding to explore wide-ranging commercial cooperation

LAM and fastjet on March 20 entered into a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) to explore long-term commercial cooperation. The Memorandum was signed in LAM headquarter in Maputo. The intent of the memorandum includes wide-ranging areas of cooperation expected to significantly enhance commercial aviation in the country.

The memorandum covers code-share and interline agreements between the two carriers, optimized network synergies to accommodate same as well as cooperation on other commercial systems, cargo, engineering and maintenance. LAM chief executive Mr. Pinto commented that the “areas of cooperation will not only further strengthen Mozambique’s flag carrier as a regional air-services provider but contribute significantly to initiatives that promote tourism, economic development and trade.”

“This is an exciting and industry-leading public-private partnership initiative,” adds Mr. Pinto. “It not only supports Mozambique’s greater economic growth objectives in terms of the efficient and affordable movement of people and goods, but also the notion of a longer-term Whole of State Aviation strategy.” Mozambique is a signatory to the Yamoussoukro Decision and one of the early nation-adopters on the Continent.

“The approach to commercial cooperation is the first of its kind on the African continent,” says Fastjet Chief Executive Nico Bezuidenhout. “There is significant opportunity in stimulating not only commercial aviation but also up and downstream economic growth through key cooperative initiatives. Fastjet is committed to exploring and leveraging the agreement to the best-benefit of both companies and, ultimately the people of Mozambique.” The African Development Bank recently reported on a high medium-term growth forecast for Mozambique. “This memorandum of understanding lays the foundation for full economic leverage of a very bright future and fulfilment of the Government of Mozambique’s Whole of State aviation objectives.”

Brussels Airlines starts summer season with 26 new destinations

Brussels Airlines launches the biggest network expansion in the company’s history. Thanks to the cooperation with tour operators Neckermann, Thomas Cook and Pegase, the company doesn’t only increase its flight frequencies to different leisure destinations, but also expands its network with 26 new leisure destinations.

Brussels Airlines launches 26 new destinations this summer. It is the biggest network expansion in the history of the company. Besides an increase in flight frequencies to different holiday regions, the airline also welcomes new leisure destinations in Bulgaria, Cabo Verde, Croatia, Cyprus, Egypt, Macedonia, Greece, Montenegro, Morocco, Portugal and Spain to its summer schedule, which runs from March 25 until October 27.

The significant growth of the airline’s destination offer is mainly due to the integration of the Thomas Cook Airlines Belgium activities and two of their Airbus A320 aircraft and herewith the closer cooperation with tour operators Neckermann, Thomas Cook and Pegase, leading to almost 1,700 weekly flights to short-and medium-haul destinations (+9.67% seats compared to 2017) and over 200 weekly flights on the long-haul this summer (+1.53% seats compared to 2017).

Within Europe, the company welcomes several new leisure destinations this summer. Brussels Airlines sets sail for Burgas and Varna (Bulgaria), Cyprus, Sharm-el-Sheikh, Hurghada and Marsa Alam (Egypt), several Greek destinations and Islands, Ohrid (Macedonia) and Tivat (Montenegro).

The flight offer to holiday regions in Spain, Morocco, Greece and Croatia also grows significantly thanks to the addition of, among others, Lanzarote, Agadir, Santorini, Zadar and Split. Besides new destinations there will also be an increase in flight frequencies to French cities Ajaccio, Bastia, Bordeaux and Nice, as well as to Athens, Tel Aviv, Florence and Malaga.

Air Canada to launch daily, seasonal Calgary-Palm Springs and Edmonton-Las Vegas flights

Air Canada on March 7 announced it will launch daily, seasonal flights between Calgary and Palm Springs, and between Edmonton and Las Vegas starting on October 28, 2018. connecting off our international flights.”

Air Canada is also increasing the frequency of its flights from Calgary to Puerto Vallarta, Los Cabos, Phoenix, and from Vancouver to Phoenix and Palm Springs.
