St. Cloud, Minnesota to have airline service again via Allegiant Air

Allegiant Air (Las Vegas) has announced it will launch twice-weekly service from Mesa, Arizona (near Phoenix) to St. Cloud, MN on December 15. ย Delta dropped service to St. Cloud (to MSP) in December 2009.

Allegiant to start Harrisburg-Sanford flights on October 31

Allegiant Air (Las Vegas) has announced new twice-weekly service between Harrisburg, Pennsylvania and Sanford, Florida (near Orlando) starting on October 31.

Allegiant to start Sanford-Lansing service on November 1

Allegiant Air (Las vegas) will open up the Sanford (near Orlando)-Lansing, Michigan route on November 1 per Airline Route. The new route will be operated two days a week.

Additionally the carrier will start twice-weekly Sanford-Columbus, Ohio (Rickenbacker) service on October 25.

The fast-growing company will also add a new route linking Mesa (near Phoenix) and Rochester, MN on November 1. As is their business plan, the route will initially be operated two days a week.

Allegiant to drop three routes from Los Angeles due to a lack of gates

Allegiant Air (Las Vegas) is trimming three routes from Los Angeles International Airport due to a shortage of gates. The carrier will drop all service from LAX to Billings (September 1), Pasco (September 1) and Sioux Falls (August 13).

Allegiant to add Airbus A319s

Allegiant Air (Las Vegas)ย today (July 30) announced its intention to lease nine Airbus A319 aircraft from GE Capital Aviation Services (GECAS) and to lease and eventually purchase ten Airbus A319 aircraft from Cebu Pacific Air (Manila). The introduction of the A319 aircraft will support Allegiant’s growth opportunities.

Allegiant plans to have the first two of these aircraft in operation in the second quarter of 2013.

Allegiant currently operates 58 MD-80 aircraft, four Boeing 757-200 aircraft and owns an additional two Boeing 757-200 aircraft.

Allegiant receives ETOPS certification and Flag Carrier status from the FAA

Allegiant Air (Las Vegas) on June 12ย obtained Extended-Rangeย Operationsย (ETOPS) certification and Flag Carrier Status from the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA).

The company announced earlier this year its entrance into Hawaii. ETOPS certification and Flag Carrier status are both necessary for flying to Hawaii.

Allegiant will offer nonstop air service to Honolulu, Hawaii from:

Las Vegasย — begins June 29

Fresno, California — begins June 30

Bellingham, Washington — begins November 15

Monterey, California —ย begins November 16

Eugene, Oregon — begins November 17

Santa Maria, California — begins November 17

Stockton, California — begins November 18

Allegiant will also offer nonstop air service to Maui, Hawaii from:

Bellingham, Washington — begins November 14

Allegiant will utilize 757-200 aircraft on its Hawaiian routes. The company operates four 757-200 aircraft and owns two additional, which are on lease to a European carrier. These aircraft are expected to be introduced into Allegiant’s fleet during the fourth quarter of 2012 and the first quarter of 2013.
