US Airways/Delta conclude major slot agreement

US Airways (Phoenix) and Delta Air Lines (Atlanta) have concluded a major agreement that will permit US to expand its Washington (Reagan National) hub operations. US will acquire 42 pairs of slots at DCA. The transaction is expected to save US $75 million a year. The company will retain the US Airways Shuttle. Most of the routes being dropped are US Airways Express flights.

The move will permit Delta to establish a LaGuardia hub. DL will gain 125 pairs of slots at LGA and 11 additional gates.

US Airways (Phoenix) will start winter seasonal service from December 17 through April 12, 2010 between the PHX hub and Montego Bay with Airbus A319s.

Southwest comes to Minneapolis/St. Paul

Southwest Airlines (Dallas) yesterday (March 9) added Minneapolis/St. Paul with eight daily nonstop flights to the Chicago (Midway) hub. WN will operate from the Humphrey Terminal.

Mesaba Airlines (NWA Airlink) (Minneapolis/St. Paul) will start Delta Connection operations from Delta’s Atlanta hub on March 2. ย The first two aircraft will fly to Hilton Head Island and the Tri Cities, TN.
