Norse Atlantic Airways is gearing up for the launch of affordable transatlantic flights. The airline aims to launch ticket sales by the end of March and theย first commercial flight to take off in the second quarter from Oslo to a U.S. destination. Pilot training has commenced, and cabin crew training will start shortly.

โ€œFuture customers and supporters on both sides of the Atlantic are reaching out to us every day asking about when they can start buying tickets, when we will be airborne and not least what routes we will be offering. We are thrilled about the interest in the market and can confirm that our goal is to launch ticket sales by the end of March and our first flight to take off in the second quarter,โ€ said CEO Bjรธrn Tore Larsen of Norse. The first flight will depart from Oslo to a U.S. destination.

Cabin crew bases in other locations will be established in line with increased operation.

โ€œOur people will be our competitive advantage. We are building a high-performance culture and creating an environment where we value diversity, ensuring that all colleagues feel a sense of belonging. We are very pleased with the colleagues we have recruited so far,โ€ Larsen said.

Norse has signed collective bargaining agreements with pilot and cabin crew unions in Norway, the U.S. and UK.

BALPA and Norse Atlantic Airways announce partnership to bring hundreds of jobs to the UK

The British Airline Pilots Association (BALPA) and Norse Atlantic Airways (Norse), the new intercontinental airline, have entered into a new agreement that will deliver hundreds of jobs in the UK.

The new airline plans to commence affordable flights between Europe and North America in 2022, with a fleet of more environmentally friendly Boeing 787 Dreamliner aircraft.

BALPAโ€™s National Officer Terry Brandon, said:

โ€œThis is a glimmer of hope for the struggling UK aviation industry that is much needed. We are pleased to welcome Norse Atlantic to London and the new jobs they will deliver at this critical time.

โ€œOur negotiating team has been incredibly impressed with the companyโ€™s business plan as it will provide sustainable long-term careers for our members on its transatlantic route network. This collective agreement will facilitate a fruitful relationship between BALPA and Norse to ensure that Norse is a great place to work.

โ€œIt is a refreshing change to have an employer knocking on our door asking for an agreement, rather than us chasing the employer. Norse has proven to be a different breed; they have recognition of unions in their DNA. Consultations and dialogue are just natural, and we can really be a contributor to the business when the employer brings us in like Norse has doneโ€.

โ€œWith some government restrictions now being lifted, we hope the newest member of the BALPA family flourishes, and our new agreement with Norse provides opportunities for hundreds of our members.โ€

Norse Atlanticยดs CEO Bjorn Tore Larsen said:

โ€œWe are thrilled to be collaborating with BALPA to offer pilots the opportunity to return to the cockpit and create hundreds of new jobs in the UK, especially following a tough time for the entire aviation industry.

โ€œThe passion and professionalism demonstrated by the BALPA team are exactly what we are looking for in Norse as we build a team Norse culture throughout the entire airline which will be our lasting competitive advantage.โ€
