Air Canada operations at Toronto Pearson are operating normally

Air Canada (Montreal) yesterday issued this statement about operations at its Toronto (Pearson) hub:

Air Canada reported its operations returned to normal yesterday (July 4) morning following an illegal labor disruption at Consolidated Aviation Fueling of Toronto (the sole fuel agent at Toronto Pearson) that affected the fueling of all airlines operating at Pearson International Airport on July 3.

 

Air Canada to fly to Vail, Colorado and seasonal Halifax-Fort Lauderdale/Hollywood service

Air Canada (Montreal) today announced that it will launch weekly nonstop flights between Toronto (Pearson) and Vail, Colorado served by nearby Eagle County Regional Airport in time for the 2013-14 winter ski season. Air Canada will operate its new seasonal service to Vail on Saturdays beginning December 14, 2013 until April 5, 2014, with 120-seat Airbus A319 aircraft offering a choice of Executive or Economy Class service, and featuring complimentary seat back entertainment throughout the aircraft. Air Canada’s flights to Vail from its main hub at Toronto Pearson International Airport are timed to offer customers easy flight connections throughout its extensive network in Eastern and Atlantic Canada including Ottawa, Montreal and Halifax.

In other news,ย Air Canada has also announced it will launch weekly seasonal flights between Halifax and Fort Lauderdale/Hollywood, Florida, beginning December 14, 2013 until the end of April, 2014. Air Canada will operate flights on Saturdays using 97-seat Embraer ERJ 190 aircraft.

WestJet arrives in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina

WestJet (Calgary) yesterday (May 2) launched new twice-weekly nonstop service between Toronto (Pearson) and Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. The first flight left Toronto’s Pearson International Airport at 9:30 a.m. EDT.

Details of WestJet’s new nonstop twice-weekly service (Thursdays and Sundays) between Toronto and Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, are as follows:

Further service expansion began April 29, when WestJet launched new nonstop daily service between Calgary and Dallas-Fort Worth, offering more connectivity than ever to the United States through WestJet’s code-share agreement with American Airlines. Within Canada, WestJet is also increasing the number of flights between Toronto and Vancouver, Edmonton, Calgary, Saskatoon and Regina, and will introduce new nonstop service between Toronto and Fort McMurray. The airline will also increase to two flights daily from one between Calgary and Los Angeles, and to 11 from seven flights weekly between Toronto and Orlando.

Internationally, WestJet will extend service to Aruba; Liberia, Costa Rica; and Trinidad and Tobago on a year-round basis. The airline will also add one extra flight each week between Toronto and Kingston and Montego Bay, Jamaica; Varadero, Cuba; St. Maarten; Puerto Plata, Dominican Republic; and Cancun, Mexico.

Icelandair to fly year-round from Toronto

Icelandair (Keflavik) has announced year-round service from Canada with the return of flights from Toronto (Pearson) this spring.

Icelandair will resume operations from Pearson International Airport on March 8, 2013 with four flights per week to Keflavik (near Reykjavik).

Toronto will become Icelandairโ€™s fifth year-round North American gateway.ย  The Toronto flights are part of a 2013 route expansion that will be the largest in Icelandairโ€™s 76-year history.ย  The ambitious growth plan includes a new North American gateway, Anchorage and the addition of two new European destinations, St. Petersburg, Russia and Zurich.

Icelandair operates year-round service to Iceland and more than 20 European destinations from Boston, Denver, New York (JFK), Seattle/Tacoma and now Toronto (Pearson).ย  In addition, Icelandair offers seasonal service from Halifax, Minneapolis/St. Paul, Sanford (near Orlando) and Washington (Dulles).ย ย  Only Icelandair allows passengers to stopover in Iceland for up to seven nights at no additional airfare.
