NAC to lease five new Embraer E175 and E190 aircraft to Belavia

Nordic Aviation Capital (NAC) has announced that it has committed to lease five Embraer aircraft, three E195s and two E175s, to Belavia Belarusian Airlines, the largest carrier in the Republic of Belarus. The placement of the five new aircraft are from NAC’s existing Embraer order book.

The delivery of the first three aircraft, two E195s and one Е175, is expected as early as April 2019. The remaining two aircraft will be delivered in December 2019 and in April 2020, respectively.

The transaction is an essential part of Belavia’s fleet growth initiative which will allow them to successfully implement their strategy on growth and ensure cost-effective development.

Philippine Airlines to operate nonstop to New York

Philippine Airlines has set October 28, 2018 as the start date for the previously announced nonstop service to New York (JFK) from Manila. The new ultra long-range route will operate four days a week with Boeing 777-300 ER aircraft according to Airline Route. The route currently operates via Vancouver.

Delta celebrates 20 years bringing greater connectivity to Central America

Delta Air Lines is celebrating its 20^th anniversary serving Costa Rica, El Salvador, Guatemala and Panama this month. Two decades ago, Delta took its first steps in what has grown to be one of the most important operations in the Americas, connecting customers to its extensive network across the U.S. and the world.

Since 1998, nearly 11 million passengers have flown Delta to and from the four Central American nations:

Costa Rica: 4 million
El Salvador: 2 million
Guatemala: 3.3 million
Panama: 1.5 million.

Delta’s journey in the region started with the goal of providing greater connectivity to these countries. Together, Delta people began to build a footprint of excellence, diversity, and integrity that has shaped our culture throughout the years.

Currently, Delta offers an average of 15 daily flights to the region.

Costa Rica: Daily flights connecting San Jose with Atlanta and Los Angeles, and daily flights connecting Liberia with Atlanta along with seasonal flights to Minneapolis-St. Paul.
El Salvador: Daily flights connecting San Salvador with Atlanta and Los Angeles.
Guatemala: Daily flights connecting Guatemala City with Los Angeles and Atlanta.
Panama: Daily flights connecting Panama City and Atlanta.

Etihad Airways enhances its onboard food offering with the addition of ‘Weqaya’ menu items

Etihad Airways, the national airline of the United Arab Emirates, has collaborated with the Department of Health – Abu Dhabi, to introduce ‘Weqaya,’ a range of healthy food items, on-board its flights and in its lounges in Abu Dhabi.

Weqaya, meaning ‘prevention,’ is a program established by the Department of Health – Abu Dhabi with the aim of encouraging people to eat a healthy and balanced diet to promote good health and wellbeing.

Starting in April, Etihad Airways will begin to offer a number of Weqaya dishes on menus in First and Business Class long-haul and ultra-long haul outbound flights from Abu Dhabi, and First and Business Class lounges in Abu Dhabi International Airport.

BRA to open a new route from Malmö to Helsinki

BRA (Braathens Regional) will open a new route Malmö-Helsinki on April 16, 2018.

Daily departures (except Saturdays) from Malmö-Helsinki at 11.45-14.30
and from Helsinki-Malmö at 15.30-16.15.

Flight time is 01.45, with connecting flights to 13 destinations within Sweden.

Philippine Airlines is dropping its route to Kuwait City, Kuwait. The last flight will be operated on May 16 per Airline Route.

Interjet to add two US routes from Leon

Interjet in June is adding two new routes from Leon/Guanajuato on June 22, 2018. According to Airline Route, the airline will start daily service to Houston (Bush Intercontinental) and San Antonio.

Jettime to operate Boeing 737-700s for SAS

Jettime will be operating its Boeing 737-700s for SAS on routes out of Copenhagen. According to Airline Route, the sub-service will be operated from April 15 to May 12, 2018 on the following routes:

Copenhagen – Aalborg
Copenhagen – Bergen
Copenhagen – Bologna
Copenhagen – Gothenburg
Copenhagen – Stavanger
Copenhagen – Wroclaw
Copenhagen – Zurich

Primera Air to start new service to Newark and Boston using leased Boeing 757s

Primera Air previously announced the opening of three new departure points in Europe: London (Stansted, STN), Paris (Charles de Gaulle, CDG) and Birmingham (BHX) for flights to Newark and Boston starting in April 2018.

According to Airline Route, Primera Air will commence the London (Stansted) – Newark route on April 19. This will be followed by London (Stansted) – Boston service starting on May 18.

Primera Air is planning to wet lease Boeing 757 aircraft from Thomas Cook for the new routes due to delivery delays of the new Airbus A321neo aircraft.
