China Southern Airlines (Guangzhou) reported its third quarter net profit rose by three percent to $492 million.

China Southern Airlines takes delivery of its first Airbus A380

China Southern Airlines (Guangzhou) on October 14, 2011 accepted its first A380. During the special celebration ceremony at the Airbus Delivery Centre in Toulouse, France, the first out of five aircraft ordered was handed over from Airbus President and CEO, Tom Enders to China Southern Airlines Chairman, Si Xianmin.

China Southern Airlines becomes the first operator of the world’s most eco-efficient aircraft in China and the 7th globally. Powered by Rolls-Royce Trent 900 engines, the aircraft will be initially operated on domestic routes between the major Chinese cities of Beijing, Shanghai and Guangzhou. Later on, the airline will deploy the A380 on international routes.

At the ceremony, China Southern Airlines unveiled its spacious and comfortable A380 cabin, featuring a total of 506 seats in a typical three class configuration, including eight luxury first-class suites, 70 lie-flat business-class seats and 428 economy-class seats. Passengersโ€™ wellโ€“being will be enhanced through innovative mood lighting including several different lighting scenarios to create a relaxing atmosphere and environment. The state-of-the-art in-flight entertainment system makes it easy for passengers to select from a wide variety of audio and video programs and make their long-haul A380 trip something to remember. The cabin also offers seats and lavatories that are easily accessible to disabled passengers.

China Southern Airlines’ first half profit jumps 33% to $532 million

China Southern Airlines (Guangzhou) also saw their first half net profit rise by almost 33 percent to $532 million.

The company has also added weekly service to Hamburg.

China Southern Airlines to lease 10 Embraer ERJ 190s

China Southern Airlines (Guangzhou) is planning to lease 10 new Embraer ERJ 190s, a new type for the carrier. On January 10 Embraer confirmedย sale of ten ERJ 190s to CDB Leasing Co., Ltd. (CLC) of China. The jets will be operated by China Southern Airlines, Chinaโ€™s largest airline. The aircraft will be used to develop new markets. The first delivery is expected for the second half of 2011.

China Southern has been an operator of Embraerโ€™s ERJ 145 regional jet since 2004, with a fleet of six jets.

China Southern Airlines (Guangzhou) is planning to order 30 Airbus A320s and six A330s for deliveries between 2012 and 2015.

China Southern Airlines orders Blended Winglets for the next 55 Boeing 737NGs

China Southern Airlines (Guangzhou) has ordered Aviation Partners Boeing Blended Winglets for its future Boeing Next Generation 737 deliveries. The order will provide for winglet installations on 55 aircraft delivering between 2011 and 2015. This is APB’s largest winglet order to-date in China.
