El Al to start nonstop flights to San Francisco, will drop the UP brand

El Al Israel Airlines (Tel Aviv) announced today it will begin nonstop service from Tel Aviv to San Francisco in the fourth quarter of 2018. The new route will operate three days a week with the new Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner. El Al will compete against United Airlines.

El Al is planning to add more new long-range routes as more Dreamliners are delivered. El Al has 16 on order.

In other news, El Al is discontinuing its lower fare Up by El Al service to five destinations in Europe. The Up brand will be retired in 2018 and all European flights will be operated under the El Al brand.

The last Up-branded flight will be October 14, 2018. On October 15, 2018 all flights will be operated as El Al flights.

Up offers inexpensive flights to five main European destinations โ€“ Berlin, Prague, Budapest, Larnaca and Kiev.

El Al start Up service on March 30, 2014.

The Boeing 737 fleet is also being refurbished and is expected to be finished in 2019.

El Al restores the Miami route

El Al Israel Airlines on November 1, 2017 restored the nonstop Tel Aviv – Miami route. This time, the route will be operated three a week with Boeing 777-200 ER aircraft.

El Al takes delivery of its first Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner

The first El Al Boeing 787 Dreamliner, delivered on August 22, 2017, named "Ashdod"

El Al Israel Airlines (Tel Aviv) on August 22, 2017 took delivery of its first of 16 new 282-seat Boeing 787-9 Dreamliners. The new Dreamliners will eventually replace the aging Boeing 747-400s and 767-300s.

The new type will be introduced on September 12, 2017 on the Tel Aviv – London (Heathrow) route followed by Tel Aviv – Newark route on October 29, 2017.

Tel Aviv – Hong Kong service will follow on March 18, 2018.

The pictured 4X-EDA is named “Ashdod”.

Boeing, El Al Israel Airlines and Air Lease Corporation (ALC) are celebrating the delivery of the carrier’s first Boeing 787 Dreamliner on August 22, 2017.

El Al leased the airplane through an agreement with Air Lease Corporation.

The 787-9 touched down in Tel Avivย the following day following a nonstop, 6,746 mile (10,856 km.) delivery flight from Paine Field, adjacent to Boeing’s factory in Everett, Wash.

 

El Al has been an all-Boeing carrier since taking delivery of its first new Boeing airplane in 1961 and currently operates a fleet of more than 40 airplanes including Next-Generation 737s, 747s, 767s and 777s.

El Al finalizes its order for three additional Boeing 787 Dreamliners

Boeing and El Al Israel Airlines on June 21, 2017 finalized an order for three 787 Dreamliners at the 2017 Paris Air Show, firming up additional commitments originally announced in 2015.

Valued at more than $729 million at current list prices, the order includes two 787-8s and one 787-9. EL AL now has six unfilled orders for 787s, with lease agreements in place for a further seven Dreamliners.

 

El Al has been an all-Boeing carrier since taking delivery of its first new Boeing airplane in 1961 and currently operates a fleet of more than 40 airplanes including Next-Generation 737s, 747s, 767s and 777s. The Tel Aviv based carrier is set to take delivery of its first 787-9 later this summer.

El Al reports a record third quarter net profit

El Al Israel Airlines (Tel Aviv) reported a record third quarter net profit of $936 million, up from a net profit of only $10.1 million in the same quarter a year ago. The change was a direct result of lower fuel costs.

El Al finalizes its order for up to nine Boeing 787 Dreamliners

Boeing (Chicago, Seattle and Charleston) and El Al Israel Airlines (Tel Aviv) agreed on an order today for up to nine 787 Dreamliners, valued at more than $2.2 billion at current list prices. Three of the orders will be added to Boeing’s Orders & Deliveries website on November 5 and the remainder will be posted as further contractual requirements are finalized.

El Al will also lease six additional 787s from independent leasing companies as the Israeli-flag carrier looks to replace and grow its existing long-haul fleet, increasing capacity and providing greater route flexibility to and from its hub at Ben Gurion Airport, Tel Aviv.

Boeing delivers the 50th airplane to El Al Israel Airlines

El Al Israel Airlines (Tel Aviv) and Boeing (Chicago, Seattle and Charleston) today (March 12) celebrated a major milestone ย with the delivery of the airline’s 50th airplane purchased from Boeing โ€“ a Next-Generation 737-900 ER.

Boeing 737-958 ER 4X-EHD (msn 41555) was officially handed over yesterday (March 11).

The delivery is the fifth 737-900 ER for the airline following an order placed for eight between 2011 and 2013. Since taking delivery in 1961 of its first new Boeing airplane, a 707-420, EL AL’s fleet has expanded to include an all-Boeing fleet consisting of 21 737s, seven 747s, six 767s and six 777s.

American Airlines (Dallas/Fort Worth) is expanding its codeshare relationship with El Al Israel Airlines (Tel Aviv). According to Airline Route, American on December 18 added its AA code on the following El Al European routes:
