AirTran to start Milwaukee-Dallas/Fort Worth flights on April 6, 2010

AirTran Airways (Orlando and Atlanta) is adding more pressure on Midwest Airlines (or what is left of Midwest) with new MKE-Dallas/Fort Worth nonstop service starting on April 6, 2010.

Delta 767-300 lands on taxiway at Atlanta

Delta Air Lines (Atlanta) has suspended the flight crew and the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) is investigating an incident at Atlanta (ATL) on Monday morning (October 19) before 0600 local time. The Boeing 767-300 with 183 passengers and 12 crew operating as flight DL 60 from Rio de Janeiro landed safely on taxiway N (north of the assigned runway 27R) according to published reports. Fortunately there were no other aircraft on the taxiway at the time.

Eagle pilots protest Connection flights at O’Hare

American Eagle’s (Dallas/Fort Worth) pilots are protesting an effort by AMR to move the AmericanConnection (operated by Chautauqua Airlines) feeder operations from St. Louis to the Chicago O’Hare hub. The AmericanConnection second party operation was an outgrowth of the TWA merger and previously contained to the former St. Louis hub. Trans States Airlines (St. Louis) continues to operate AmericanConnection flights at St. Louis.

AirTran to start Charleston, WV-Orlando flights

AirTran Airways (Orlando and Atlanta) will launch a new route (three times a week) between Charleston, WV and Orlando on June 25.

AirTran currently operates 86 Boeing 717-200s and 50 737-700s.

Air Wisconsin completes 1 millionth CRJ200 flight

Air Wisconsin (Air Wisconsin Airlines Corporation) (US Airways Express) (Appleton) announced yesterday its has completed its 1,000,000th revenue flight with its 50-seat Bombardier CRJ200 (CL-600-2B19) fleet. Air Wisconsin operates 70 CRJ200s for US Airways.

ASA grounds its 60 Bombardier CRJ200s

ASA (Atlantic Southeast Airlines) (Delta Connection) (subsidiary of SkyWest) (Atlanta) on March 31 grounded its 60 Bombardier CRJ200 regional jets after an internal audit discovered it may have missed some critical engine inspections. ASA serves 111 airports in 30 states. The fleet is gradually being returned to service.

American Eagle to leave Dallas Love Field

American Airlines (Dallas/Fort Worth) has signed a new 17-year lease at Love Field in Dallas which extends its commitment at the city airport to 2028. However due to terminal construction, American Eagle will suspend the Love Field-Chicago O’Hare route on June 11. The new DAL terminal is expected to be completed in 2013.

Delta to reduce international capacity 10%

Delta Air Lines (Atlanta) will reduce its international capacity by another 10 percent starting in September. Most of the cuts will come in the Atlantic and Pacific areas. Services to Latin America remain strong and will actually go up around two percent in the fourth quarter. This new cut is in addition to the six to eight percent cut in total capacity announced in December 2008.

Delta to start Atlanta-Brasilia December 17

Delta Air Lines (Atlanta) will start three-times-weekly nonstop service between the Atlanta hub and Brasilia starting on December 17, 2009. The new route will be assigned to Boeing 757-200s.
