Delta to restore Atlanta-Ottawa flights on December 20

Delta Air Lines (Atlanta) will restore Delta Connection service between its Atlanta hub and Ottawa, Canada on December 20, 2014. During the Christmas-New Year holiday period it will operate daily with Bombardier CRJ900 aircraft and then to weekly flights according to Airline Route.

Bombardier delivers the first CRJ900 to American for PSA Airlines

Bombardier Aerospace (Montreal-Mirabel) has delivered the first of 30 enhanced CRJ900 NextGen aircraft to American Airlines Group Inc. (Dallas/Fort Worth). The aircraft will be operated by American Airlines Group wholly owned subsidiary PSA Airlines, Inc. (Dayton) under the American Eagle brand. The purchase agreement for the aircraft, which was announced in December 2013, also included options on an additional 40 CRJ900 NextGen aircraft.

The pictured Bombardier CRJ900 (CL-600-2D24) N547NN (msn 15317) was delivered on June 5.

PSA Airlines currently operates as an US Airways Express operator.

Previously the aircraft was unveiled to American Airlines employees and PSA Airlines employees at Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport and in Dayton, Ohio.

American Airlines is the first customer to take delivery of the enhanced CRJ900 NextGen regional jet, which provides up to 5.5 per cent fuel burn reduction over earlier-generation CRJ900 aircraft.

The delivery ceremony at Bombardierโ€™s Mirabel, Quรฉbec, facility was attended by senior executives and employees of American Airlines, PSA Airlines, Bombardier and major suppliers to the CRJ Series regional jet program.

As of March 31, 2014, Bombardier had recorded firm orders for 1,817 CRJ Series aircraft, including 343 CRJ900 and CRJ900 NextGen aircraft. Worldwide, CRJ Series aircraft are in service with more than 60 airlines and more than 30 customers operate corporate variants of the aircraft. The aircraft are operating in more than 50 countries on six continents, and on average, a CRJ aircraft takes off every 10 seconds somewhere in the world. CRJ Series aircraft have transported more than 1.4 billion passengers and have logged more than 39 million flight hours and over 32 million takeoffs and landings.

American to wire its Bombardier CRJ900 fleet with the Gogo ATG Wi-Fi system

Gogo announced today that it has reached an agreement with American Airlines (Dallas/Fort Worth) to begin installing its ATG connectivity service on 30 new Bombardier CRJ900 NextGen aircraft, which will be delivered to American and PSA Airlines starting this month. The additional connected aircraft will build on the more than 850 aircraft in American’s fleet that are currently equipped with Gogo’s In-flight Internet services.

American Airlines was the first commercial airline to launch connectivity service with Gogo.

American currently has Gogo’s ATG and ATG-4 service installed on its mainline aircraft.

American Airlines (Dallas/Fort Worth) and PSA Airlines (2nd) (US Airways Express and American Eagle) (Dayton) yesterday (May 20) showed off the first Bombardier CRJ900 (CL-600-2D24) to the media at Dallas-Fort Worth International Airport (DFW). The aircraft was flown by Bombardier.

The aircraft is not officially handed over to American and PSA and currently carries the temporary registration of C-GWGQ (msn 15317). This aircraft is the first of 30 CRJ900s that will be operated for American Eagle. The first delivery will be in June. The routes have not yet been specified.

The aircraft will be on display at the Dayton base today.

Bombardier Aerospace unveiled the first of 30 enhanced CRJ900 NextGen aircraft ordered by American Airlines Group Inc. in December 2013. American Airlines is the first customer to benefit from the latest enhancements to the CRJ900 NextGen regional jet, which provides up to 5.5 per cent fuel burn reduction over earlier-generation CRJ900 aircraft.

The CRJ900 NextGen aircraftโ€™s advanced technologies include a conic-shaped exhaust nozzle that improves exhaust flow and reduces fuel consumption; various weight-saving initiatives; and a modern six-screen glass cockpit featuring the Rockwell Collins Pro Line IV integrated avionics suite, whose robust open architecture delivers reliable performance with growth capability to meet future communication, navigation, surveillance and air traffic management requirements.

China Express converts three Bombardier CRJ900s to firm orders

China Express Airlines (Chongqing) has converted previously announced conditional purchase agreements for three Bombardier CRJ900 NextGen regional jets into a firm order. The conditional purchase agreements for five CRJ900 NextGen aircraft, with options on an additional eight CRJ900 NextGen aircraft, were announced on December 2, 2013, along with a firm order for three CRJ900 NextGen airliners.

China Express provides regional passenger services to 44 cities throughout China with its fleet of five Bombardier CRJ200 aircraft and nine 84-seat CRJ900 NextGen aircraft. The airline was the first to operate the CRJ900 aircraft in China.

Mesa Air Group to expand its partnership with US Airways

Mesa Air Group, Inc. (Mesa Airlines) (Phoenix has announced it has reached an agreement with US Airways, Inc. (Phoenix) to extend the term covering its original 38 Bombardier CRJ900 aircraft currently in operation and for the addition of four CRJ900 aircraft to its current fleet of 47 aircraft under the US Airways Express contract. The term of the agreement covering the 38 aircraft was extended until 2021 and the term for the 4 additional aircraft is 8 years from their induction date. No further details of the agreement were released.

Mesa currently operates 69 aircraft with approximately 396 daily system departures to 77 cities, and recently announced an additional 30 Embraer 175 aircraft will be flying for United Airlines. Mesa operates as US Airways Express and United Express under contractual agreements with US Airways and United Airlines, respectively, and independently as go!.

Eventually the company will become a new American Eagle branded operator with the final merger of the two AOCs into one for American Airlines.

US Airways and Mesa Air Group extend their contract

US Airways (Phoenix) and the Mesa Air Group, Inc. (Phoenix) have announced they have reached an agreement in principle to extend their code share agreement covering 38 Bombardier CRJ900 aircraft for an additional term of 39 months to September 2015. Under the term sheet, Mesa Airlines, Inc., a wholly owned subsidiary of Mesa Air Group, will continue to provide regional jet service under the US Airways Express banner. The agreement is subject to approval by Mesaโ€™s and US Airways Boards of Directors and the Bankruptcy Court overseeing Mesaโ€™s restructuring.

Under the agreement Mesa will continue to provide US Airways Express service out of US Airwaysโ€™ hubs in Phoenix, AZ and Charlotte, NC utilizing aircraft in Mesaโ€™s current fleet.

Libyan Airlines orders three more Bombardier CRJ900s

Libyan Airlines (Tripoli) through the Libyan African Aviation Holding Company has signed a firm order for three Bombardier CRJ900 NextGen aircraft and has also taken options on an additional three CRJ900 NextGen aircraft. The aircraft will be operated by Libyan Airlines, a subsidiary company of Libyan African Aviation Holding Company.

Libyan Airlines currently operates three CRJ900 and two CRJ900 NextGen aircraft in a two-class configuration with seven business class and 68 economy seats. The airlineโ€™s previous orders for CRJ900 and CRJ900 NextGen aircraft were announced on June 14, 2007 and January 3, 2008 respectively.

Mesa Air Group proposes to make US Airways a part owner

Mesa Air Group (Phoenix) is proposing to issue 10 percent of its post-bankruptcy stock to US Airways in exchange for a new US Airways Express contract under its restructuring plan filed September 17 in the U.S. Bankruptcy Court in New York.

Air Nostrum to take over eight Iberia routes on November 1

Air Nostrum (Iberia Regional) (Valencia) will fly eight additional routes for Iberia starting on November 1. The new routes from Madrid include Bucharest (weekly), Frankfurt (six times weekly), Marrakech (three times weekly), Munich (four times weekly), Palma de Mallorca (all flights), Tangier (daily), Venice (three times weekly) and Warsaw (weekly).
