Cebu Pacific Air to launch flights to Doha, Qatar

Cebu Pacific Air (Manila) will launch twice weekly nonstop flights between Manila and Doha, Qatar, starting on June 4, 2015.

CEB will be the only Philippine carrier flying between these two cities, serving more Global Filipinos in the Middle East.

The nonstop service departs Manila every Monday and Thursday, at 9:35 pm (2135). It arrives in Doha at 2:45 am (0245) the next day. The return flight departs Doha every Tuesday and Friday, at 4:15 am (0415), arriving in Manila at 6:35 pm (1835).

This new route will utilize CEB’s brand-new Airbus A330-300 aircraft, with a configuration of 436 all-economy class seats. Hot meals, seats with extra legroom and Wi-Fi onboard, among others, are options that can be added to the fare.

The route will serve over 260,000 Filipinos in Qatar, based on Philippine Overseas Employment Administration 2009 stock estimates.

Qatar has the third-largest Filipino community in the Middle East. CEB already serves the other two key markets for Global Filipinos: United Arab Emirates via direct flights to Dubai, and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia via Riyadh. CEB is also the only airline flying direct between Manila and Kuwait.

CEB’s 55-strong fleet is comprised of 10 Airbus A319, 31 Airbus A320, 6 Airbus A330 and 8 ATR-72 500 aircraft.

Between 2015 and 2021, Cebu Pacific will take delivery of 7 more brand-new Airbus A320 and 30 Airbus A321neo aircraft.

Allegiant Air to acquire six ex-Cebu Pacific Air Airbus A319s

Allegiant Travel Company (Allegiant Air) (Las Vegas) today (February 23) announced that it has entered into an agreement to purchase six additional Airbus A319 aircraft. The aircraft are currently being operated by Cebu Pacific Air and are scheduled to enter the Allegiant operating fleet from the end of 2015 through 2017.

“We continue to be able to find high quality, used A319s that fit our specification,” said Jude Bricker, Senior Vice President of Planning. “These aircraft will have 156 seats which is similar to our current A319s. Including these aircraft, we have added commitments for ten additional A320 series aircraft so far this year and will remain active in the used A320 market,” concluded Bricker.

Two of the aircraft will be purchased in 2015 and the company expects the remainder to be purchased in 2016. Allegiant’s expected fleet plan including all aircraft currently under contract is as follows:

Cebu Pacific (CEB) signed a forward sale agreement with a subsidiary of Allegiant Travel Company, covering Cebu Pacific’s sale of six Airbus A319 aircraft. Allegiant is the parent company of Las Vegas-based low-cost airline, Allegiant Air. Delivery of aircraft to Allegiant is scheduled this year until 2016.

“This agreement is in line with CEB’s efforts to continuously improve operational efficiency by replacing and upgrading our fleet with the larger, more fuel efficient, and longer range A321neo aircraft,” said Lance Gokongwei, CEB President and CEO.

The A321neo is the largest model in the A320neo series, which incorporates new engines and large wing tip devices called sharklets. The advances will deliver fuel savings of 20 percent and additional payload or range capability. The fuel savings translate into some 5,000 tonnes less CO2 per aircraft per year. In addition, the aircraft will provide a double-digit reduction in NOx emissions and reduced engine noise.

CEB currently operates a fleet of 54 aircraft comprised of 10 Airbus A319, 31 Airbus A320, 5 Airbus A330 and 8 ATR 72-500 aircraft. Between 2015 and 2021, Cebu Pacific will take delivery of 7 more brand-new Airbus A320, 1 Airbus A330, and 30 Airbus A321neo aircraft.

CEB’s Airbus A321neo aircraft will be equipped with the Pratt and Whitney PurePower Geared Turbofan™ engine. The aircraft has a flying radius of over 6 hours and can be configured to have up to 240 seats. This will enable CEB to access new markets in the Indian subcontinent and Australia, including Perth, Brisbane and Adelaide.

Cebu Pacific Air to launch the Cebu-Tokyo Narita route on March 26, 2015

Cebu Pacific Air (Manila) plans to strengthen its Cebu hub with direct Cebu-Tokyo (Narita) flights starting March 26, 2015.

The airline will launch four weekly flights (every Tuesday, Thursday, Saturday and Sunday) between Cebu and Tokyo. The flight from Cebu will depart at 5:55 am (0555), and arrive in Tokyo at 11:20 am (1120). The return flight will depart Tokyo at 12:05 pm (1205), and arrive in Cebu at 4:25 pm (1625).

The new route will utilize Airbus A320s.

Cebu Pacific Air launched nonstop flights from Manila to Tokyo (Narita) and Nagoya in March of this year.

Aside from Tokyo, Nagoya and Osaka, Cebu Pacific Air offers flights to 25 other international destinations, namely Bali, Bangkok, Beijing, Brunei, Busan, Dammam, Dubai, Guangzhou, Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh, Hong Kong, Incheon (Seoul), Jakarta, Kota Kinabalu, Kuala Lumpur, Kuwait, Macau, Phuket, Riyadh, Shanghai, Siem Reap, Singapore, Sydney, Taipei and Xiamen. It also operates the most extensive network in the Philippines.

Cebu Pacific today launches Manila-Riyadh flights with a 436-seat Airbus A330-300

Cebu Pacific Air (Manila) now flies three nonstop weekly flights between Manila and Riyadh. The inaugural flight for Cebu Pacific’s Manila-Riyadh service departed at 5:05 pm (1705) on October 3. Cebu Pacific is the only low-cost carrier flying between the Philippines and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

Cebu Pacific’s flights from Manila to Riyadh departs at 5:05 pm (Manila time) and arrives in Riyadh at 11:35 pm (Riyadh time) every Wednesday, Friday, and Sunday. Flights from Riyadh to Manila departs at 12:45 am (Riyadh time) and arrive in Manila at 3:40 pm (Manila time) every Monday, Thursday and Saturday.

The new route utilizes the pictured brand-new Airbus A330-300 aircraft with a configuration of 436 all-economy class seats.

Meanwhile, Cebu Pacific will fly nonstop to and from Dammam three days a week, starting on October 4. Aside from Dubai, Riyadh, and Kuwait, Cebu Pacific’s long-haul division also operates nonstop flights between Manila and Sydney.

Cebu Pacific to launch service to Riyadh, Saudi Arabia on October 1 with 436-seat Airbus A330-300s

Cebu Pacific Air (Manila) will launch thrice weekly nonstop flights to Riyadh in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, starting October 1, 2014. It will be the only low-cost carrier flying between the Philippines and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

The Riyadh service is scheduled to depart Manila at 5:05 pm (1705) every Wednesday, Friday and Sunday, arriving in Riyadh at 10:35 pm (2235). The return flight will depart Riyadh at 12:45 am (0045) every Monday, Thursday and Saturday, arriving in Manila at 3:40 pm (1540).

Cebu Pacific’s flights to Riyadh will utilize the airline’s brand-new Airbus A330-300 fleet with a configuration of 436 all-economy class seats. Its 5th A330 aircraft was just delivered brand-new from the Airbus factory in Toulouse, France on September 2, 2014.

Cebu Pacific also launched its long-haul flights to Sydney, Australia today (September 9, 2014).

Tigerair agrees to sell Tigerair Philippines to Cebu Pacific Air, both carriers agree to an alliance

Tigerair (formerly Tiger Airways) (Singapore) has issued this statement with Cebu Pacific Air (Manila):

Tigerair and Cebu Pacific Air, the largest budget carriers based in Singapore and the Philippines respectively, have announced plans to enter into a strategic alliance. Both parties will collaborate commercially and operationally on international and domestic air routes from the Philippines, thereby creating the biggest network of flights to the region.

The alliance will enable both parties to leverage their respective strengths and harness synergies to enhance their network coverage, flight frequencies and customer service, and jointly market their routes using interline arrangement.

Subject to regulatory approval, the interline partners will jointly operate common routes between Singapore and the Philippines. As part of the strategic alliance, Tigerair will divest its 40% stake in Tigerair Philippines to Cebu Pacific.

Group CEO of Tigerair Mr Koay Peng Yen said, “Tigerair and Cebu Pacific share a vision for both airlines to join forces and create the largest budget airline network between Asia and the Philippines. This partnership with Cebu Pacific is consistent with our asset-light strategy, and builds upon our other alliances. We also look forward to achieving greater cost savings from the coordinated operations while providing more travel options and greater convenience for our customers.”

Cebu Pacific is interested in buying Tigerair Philippines

Cebu Pacific Air (Cebu Air, Inc) (Manila) has started negotiations to possibly acquire rival Tigerair Philippines (formerly SEAIR) (Manila and Clark) according to the Philippine Daily Inquirer. If the two parties can reach agreement, the acquisition would need to pass several regulatory hurdles including the Philippines CAB.

Tigerair Philippines was formed when Tigerair (Tiger Airways) of Singapore acquired 40 percent of SEAIR (formerly Asian Wings) and renamed the airline.

Cebu Pacific Air takes delivery of its first 436-seat Airbus A330-300

Cebu Pacific Air (Cebu Pacific Air.com) (Manila) on June 13 took delivery of its first Airbus A330-300. The pictured A330-343X RP-C3341 (msn 1420, ex F-WWTR) was handed over to the carrier. The carrier is planning to use the new type to launch scheduled low-fare service between Manila and Dubai where many ex-pats work in the Gulf region.

Airbus issued this statement:

Cebu Pacific has taken delivery of its first A330-300 during a special ceremony in Toulouse on June 13. The aircraft is the first of four A330s being leased by Cebu Pacific from US lessor CIT and will be used to launch the carrier’s new long haul low-fare operations.

Cebu Pacific has specified a single class layout for its A330 fleet seating 436 passengers. The airline will initially operate the first aircraft on medium haul regional routes, before launching its first long haul services to Dubai in October.

“The delivery of our first widebody aircraft marks a milestone for Cebu Pacific,” said Lance Gokongwei, Cebu Pacific President and Chief Executive Officer. “The addition of the highly efficient A330 to our fleet ultimately translates to unbeatable operating costs, enabling us to offer the lowest possible fares to our guests. In addition, we will be the only Filipino carrier flying nonstop between Manila and Dubai, eliminating multiple stops or connecting flights.”

The A330 will join an existing fleet of single aisle A320 Family aircraft flying with Cebu Pacific on its extensive domestic and regional network, currently covering 34 domestic and 22 international destinations across Asia. In addition to its leased A330s, the carrier has 47 A320 Family on firm order with Airbus for future delivery, including 30 latest generation A321neo.

The A330 is one of the most widely-used widebody aircraft in service today. Airbus has recorded over 1,200 orders for the various versions of the aircraft and more than 900 are in service with almost 100 operators worldwide today.

Cebu Pacific Air to launch its new Airbus A330 Manila-Dubai service on October 7

Cebu Pacific Air (CEB) (Manila) has announced it will operate nonstop daily flights between Manila and Dubai beginning on October 7, 2013.

Daily flights from Manila to Dubai are scheduled to depart at 4:40 PM (1640) (Manila time), while flights from Dubai to Manila depart at 11:10 PM (2310) (Dubai time). It will be the budget airline’s first long haul destination.

The Manila-Dubai flights will be operated on the Airbus A330-300 aircraft with a configuration of more than 400 all-economy class seats. Guests can also enjoy OnAir WiFi connectivity inflight.

Cebu Pacific previously announced that it will lease up to 8 Airbus A330-300 aircraft for its long haul operations. The airline will take delivery of 2 Airbus A330 aircraft this year, and an additional 2 in 2014. The Airbus A330 has a range of up to 11 hours which means the airline could serve markets such as Australia, Middle East, parts of Europe and the US.

Cebu Pacific currently operates 10 Airbus A319, 25 Airbus A320 and 8 ATR 72-500 aircraft. Its fleet of 43 aircraft is the one of the most modern aircraft fleets in the world. Between 2013 and 2021, Cebu Pacific will take delivery of 17 more Airbus A320 and 30 Airbus A321neo aircraft orders.

Cebu Pacific Air takes delivery of its first Airbus A320 with Sharklets

Cebu Pacific Air (Manila) took delivery of its first A320 equipped with Sharklets today (January 21) during a ceremony in Manila, becoming the first operator of the new fuel-saving wing tip devices in the Philippines. Previously A320-214 RP-C3272 (msn 5442) was formally handed over at Toulouse on January 18.

Sharklets are newly designed wing-tip devices allowing airlines to reduce fuel burn by up to 4% on longer sectors. They are an option on new-build A320 Family aircraft, and are standard on all members of the A320neo Family. Cebu Pacific Air today operates 34 A320 Family aircraft, and has 48 more on order for future delivery, comprising 18 A320ceo and 30 A321neo.

Sharklets are made from light-weight composites and are 2.4 meters tall. Cutting airlines’ fuel bills by around four percent, Sharklets offer the flexibility to A320 Family operators of either adding around 100 nautical miles more range or allowing increased payload capability of up to 450 kilograms.

Cebu Pacific is one of the leading low cost carriers in the Asian region. The airline operates an extensive domestic and international network covering 32 destinations in the Philippines and 21 business and leisure destinations across Asia (see route map below).
