JetBlue Airways and Royal Air Maroc to codeshare

JetBlue Airways (New York) and Royal Air Maroc (Casablanca) have today filed an application with the U.S. Governments to enter into a codeshare partnership that will offer customers easy connections between the two airlines’ networks.

Under the proposed codeshare agreement, Royal Air Maroc will place its “AT” airline code on JetBlue flights between New York’s John F. Kennedy International Airport (JFK) and 22 destinations in the U.S., including Boston (BOS), Chicago O’Hare (ORD), Denver (DEN), Los Angeles (LAX), Orlando (MCO), San Francisco (SFO), Tampa (TPA) and Washington D.C. (IAD).

Additionally, JetBlue and Royal Air Maroc customers will be able to easily purchase a single ticket with seamless bag transfers via Casablanca’s Mohammed V International Airport (CMN) to Marrakesh and 15 other Moroccan destinations, as well as a further 24 destinations in West Africa.

Less than two weeks ago, Royal Air Maroc introduced its first Boeing 787 Dreamliner aircraft (above) on the Casablanca-New York/JFK route.

The airlines have successfully partnered on an interline basis since 2012, and look forward to the further cooperation this codeshare agreement brings.

Royal Air Maroc to introduce the new Boeing 787 on the New York route on Sunday

Royal Air Maroc (Casablanca), the national airline of Morocco, marks a milestone with the launch of its first Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner.

The airline continues:

The new, super efficient 274-seat aircraft will depart on its inaugural 6.5-hour flight from Mohammed V International Airport in Casablanca (CMN) to New York’s John F. Kennedy International Airport (JFK) on February 22.

This launch marks the first of two 787-8s that will be dedicated to trans-Atlantic flights between the U.S. and Morocco. Royal Air Maroc’s new planes feature 18 Business Class seats in a 2-2 layout, and 256 Economy Class seats in a 3-3-3 layout.

Royal Air Maroc takes delivery of its first Boeing 787 Dreamliner, will enter service on January 20 to Paris Orly

Royal Air Maroc (Casablanca) on December 31, 2014 took delivery of its first Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner, the pictured CN-RGB (msn 43817). The new airliner has now arrived at the Casablanca base.

The new type will initially be introduced on the Casablanca-Paris (Orly) route on January 20 (originally planned for January 8) and will also operate to Montreal (Trudeau) starting on March 29, 2015, Algiers (June 14, 2015) and Jeddah (June 16, 2015).

The new type is expected to eventually operate to Beijing, New York (JFK) and Sao Paulo (Guarulhos).

Royal Air Maroc has four 787-8s on order.

On January 5 Boeing issued this statement:

Boeing and Royal Air Maroc this weekend celebrated the arrival into Morocco of its first 787 Dreamliner. The airline will be the first carrier in the Mediterranean region to operate the 787.

The airplane, delivered to the airline on December 31, 2014 from Boeing’s Everett, Washington Delivery Center, flew a 4,788 nautical mile (8,867 kilometer) nonstop flight to Royal Air Maroc’s home base in Casablanca at Mohammed V International Airport.

Royal Air Maroc’s current fleet includes nearly 50 Boeing airplanes, consisting predominantly of Next-Generation 737s, but also 767-300s, a 747-400 and now it first 787. The Casablanca-based carrier operates a domestic network throughout Morocco and serves more than 50 destinations across Africa, Asia, Europe, and North America. Boeing’s partnership with Royal Air Maroc dates back more than 40 years.

Boeing rolls out the first Boeing 787 for Royal Air Maroc

Royal Air Maroc (Casablanca) will soon take delivery of its first Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner. The pictured CN-RGB (msn 43817) has been rolled out of the paint shop at Boeing. Boeing has released this photo on Randy’s Journal.

As previously reported, the carrier is planning to introduce the new type on January 8, 2015 between Casablanca and Paris (Orly) followed by Casablanca-New York (JFK) on February 22, 2015 according to Airline Route.

The airline will also operate the new type to Montreal (Trudeau) starting on March 29, 2015, Algiers (June 14, 2015) and Jeddah (June 14, 2015).
