British Airways highlights its summer schedule

British Airways begins one of its busiest summers ever in the UK regions next week with the launch of new routes and additional flights from five regional airports.

The addition of two new Embraer 190 jets to the growing aircraft fleet means that almost 200,000 seats will be on sale to some of the most popular business and leisure destinations in Europe and the UK, an increase of 26 per cent compared to last year.

Brand new routes include Manchester and Edinburgh to Florence and Manchester to Dublin and there is extra capacity to Europe from other UK airports.

In addition to the new routes from Manchester, flights to Malaga and Palma de Mallorca have doubled and there is increased frequency to Nice and Ibiza.

There are also extra flights to Florence and Palma from Birmingham, extra flights to Malaga, Ibiza and Palma from Bristol and extra flights to Milan, Nice and Florence from Stansted Airport.

All regional flights operate on modern Embraer jets with a choice of Club Europe and Euro Traveller cabins and two-abreast seating so that every customer can have either a window or aisle seat.

In addition to the regional services British Airways launches a twice-weekly summer service from Heathrow Terminal 5 to the Grecian island of Kefalonia on May 15. Flights will operate until  October 6.

British Airways is investing £4.5 billion for customers over the next five years, including the installation of the best quality WiFi and power in every seat, fitting 128 long-haul aircraft with new interiors and taking delivery of 72 new aircraft. The airline is also investing £600m specifically in Club World, including outstanding catering and luxurious White Company bedding – plus, from 2019, a new seat with direct aisle access.

British Airways expands its London City and regional operation

British Airways is further expanding both its London City and regional operation with three new routes, increased frequencies, two more aircraft and 40 new jobs.

Just a week after the airline announced it is increasing flights from Manchester, Birmingham and Bristol in Summer 2018, today it unveils plans to double its weekday services between London City and Milan Linate and add a new weekday service to Frankfurt from January.

In addition, there will be new summer services from Manchester and Edinburgh to Florence and a weekly service between Manchester and Dublin.

The extra flights are made possible with the arrival of two new 98-seat Embraer 190 aircraft (pictured) in January and April 2018, bringing the total fleet number to 22.

The airline is also recruiting 20 new pilots and 20 cabin crew.

This year British Airways has launched dozens of new flights from London City, Stansted, Manchester, Birmingham and Bristol airports.

Luke Hayhoe, British Airways’ general manager customer and commercial, said: “The new Embraer 190 jets will be a welcome addition to our fleet as we continue to grow our route network and frequencies both from our home base at London City and from other UK regional airports. It enables us to expand both our business and leisure routes, with much improved schedules and timings to Milan Linate and Frankfurt.

“This year we have almost doubled the number of routes we operate compared to last year and the winter season brings a further five new routes, London City to Paris Orly, Prague and Reykjavik and Manchester to Chambery and Salzburg ahead of the new routes next summer.”
