Spirit Airlines is coming to Kansas City

Spirit Airlinesย (Fort Lauderdale/Hollywood) has announced that Kansas City will be the 56th city added toย its route network, offering daily nonstop ultra-low fare service toย Chicago’s O’Hare International Airport (ORD), Dallas/Fort Worthย International Airport (DFW), Detroit’s Metropolitan Airport (DTW) andย Las Vegas McCarran International Airport (LAS) beginning on August 7,ย 2014, and service to Houston’s George Bush Intercontinental Airportย (IAH) starting on August 8, 2014.

Spirit offers nonstop service to 19 destinations from Chicago-O’Hare, including Atlantic City, Baltimore/Washington, Boston, Dallas/Fort Worth, Denver, Fort Lauderdale, Fort Myers, Houston-Bush Intercontinental, Kansas City (starting August 7), Las Vegas, Los Angeles, Minneapolis/St. Paul, Myrtle Beach, New York-LaGuardia, Oakland/San Francisco Bay, Orlando, Phoenix, Portland (Oregon), and Tampa.

Spirit offers nonstop service to 24 destinations from Dallas/Fort Worth, including Atlanta, Baltimore/Washington, Boston, Cancun, Chicago-O’Hare, Denver, Detroit, Fort Lauderdale, Fort Myers, Kansas City (starting August 7), Las Vegas, Los Angeles, Los Cabos, Minneapolis/St. Paul, Myrtle Beach, New Orleans, New York-LaGuardia, Oakland/San Francisco Bay, Orlando, Philadelphia, Phoenix, Portland (Oregon), San Diego, and Tampa.

Spirit offers nonstop service to 15 destinations from Detroit, including Atlantic City, Cancun, Dallas/Fort Worth, Denver, Fort Lauderdale, Fort Myers, Houston-Bush Intercontinental, Kansas City (starting August 7), Las Vegas, Los Angeles, Minneapolis/St. Paul, Myrtle Beach, New York-LaGuardia, Orlando, and Tampa.

Spirit offers nonstop service to 8 destinations from Houston-Bush Intercontinental, including Chicago-O’Hare, Denver, Detroit, Kansas City (starting August 8), Las Vegas, Los Angeles, Minneapolis/St. Paul, and Orlando.

Spirit offers nonstop service to 14 destinations from Las Vegas, including Baltimore/Washington, Chicago-O’Hare, Dallas/Fort Worth, Denver, Detroit, Fort Lauderdale, Houston-Bush Intercontinental, Kansas City (starting August 7), Los Angeles, Minneapolis/St. Paul, Oakland/San Francisco Bay, Philadelphia, Portland (Oregon), and San Diego.

United Airlines announces additional Embraer 175 routes

United Express ERJ 175 (CO 91)(Flt)(United)(LRW)

United Airlines (Chicago) has announced that it will launch service with the airlineโ€™s new Embraer 175 aircraft on flights between Unitedโ€™s Houston hub at George Bush Intercontinental Airport and Atlanta and New Orleans beginning on June 15, and between Houston and Austin beginning on June 16. United also announced ERJ 175 service between Chicago Oโ€™Hare and Minneapolis/St. Paul beginning on June 5; between Chicago O’Hare and Atlanta beginning on June 15; and between Chicago O’Hare and New York LaGuardia beginning on June 23.

The 76-seat ERJ 175 regional jet is the newest addition to the United Express fleet. The aircraft features 12 seats in United First, 16 seats in United Economy Plus and 48 seats in United Economy. United Express carrier Mesa Airlines (Phoenix) will operate the flights between Houston and Atlanta, Austin and New Orleans. United Express carrier SkyWest Airlines (St. George, Utah) will operate the flights between Chicago Oโ€™Hare and Atlanta, New York LaGuardia and Minneapolis/St. Paul.

Last month, United announced that SkyWest Airlines will operate ERJ 175 service between Chicago Oโ€™Hare and Reagan Washington National beginning on May 17 and between Chicago Oโ€™Hare and Boston Logan beginning on May 19.

Spirit Airlines announces Chicago O’Hare-Oakland service

Spirit Airlines (Fort Lauderdale/Hollywood) has announced new nonstop service between Oakland International Airport (OAK) and Chicago’s O’Hare International Airport (ORD). This new service will consist of one daily nonstop flight starting on May 1, 2014.

In other news,ย Spirit Airlines has also announced new nonstop service from Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport (MSP) to Houston’s George Bush Intercontinental Airport (IAH) and the Thurgood Marshall Baltimore/Washington International Airport (BWI). This new service will consist of one daily nonstop flight in each market operating from May 1, 2014 through November 1, 2014.

Air China starts nonstop Beijing-Houston service

Air China (Beijing) began its four weekly nonstop services betweenย Beijing Capital International Airportย (PEK) in Beijing, China andย Georgeย Bush Intercontinental Airportย in Houston, Texas yesterday (July 11).

The inaugural flight from Beijing, CA 995, arrived at 3:40 (1540) yesterday afternoon to a Texas-sized welcome which included a traditional water cannon salute.ย Houston Mayor Annise Parkerย was on hand to greet the delegation fromย Chinaled by Ms. Yinxiang Wang, Co-Chairwoman ofย Air China Limited; Chinese Consul General for Texas and seven U.S. southern states and Puerto Rico, Ms. Erwen Xu; and, former Houston Rockets star and now Houston’s Honorary Goodwill Ambassador, Yao Ming.

With the launch of the nonstop service, Houston becomes Air China’s fifth gateway inย North America, joining Los Angeles, New York, San Francisco and Vancouver.ย  Air China will operate inside Terminal D at George Bush Intercontinental Airport, Houston’s gateway for all foreign carriers.

Houston and Beijing have enjoyed a strong relationship for several decades.ย China’s paramount leader, the lateย Deng Xiaoping, visited Houston during his historic trip to the United States in 1979.

Air China will operate the nonstop flights, CA 996, from Houston to Beijing on Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays and Sundays, departing at 1:00 AM local time (0100) and arriving in Beijing at 4:50 AM (0450) local time, next day.ย ย  The chart below shows the schedule of the new service.

Spirit Airlines adds new service from Houston to both Denver and Detroit

Spirit Airlines (Fort Lauderdale/Hollywood) is continuing to add service at Houston’s George Bush Intercontinental Airport (IAH). Starting June 13, 2013, Spirit will operate daily nonstop service between Houston and Denver and between Houston and Detroit.

The new nonstop flight between Denver and Houston continues on to Orlando with same plane service. In addition, the new daily nonstop flight between Houston and Denver complements Spirit’s existing one-stop service.

The new daily nonstop service between Detroit and Houston continues on to Dallas/Fort Worth with same plane service.

Spirit currently offers daily nonstop service from Houston to Chicago, Dallas/Fort Worth, Las Vegas and Orlando, as well as a variety of connections throughout the Americas. In addition, daily nonstop service between Houston and Los Angeles begins on April 25, 2013.

Spirit Airlines (Fort Lauderdale/Hollywood) hasย announced it is starting ultra low fare service on four new routes starting April 25, 2013, including:

  • Daily nonstop service between Baltimore/Washington International Thurgood Marshall Airport (BWI) and Las Vegas McCarran International Airport (LAS)
  • Daily nonstop service between Philadelphia International Airport (PHL) and Las Vegas McCarran International Airport (LAS)
  • Daily nonstop service between Houston George Bush Intercontinental Airport (IAH) and Los Angeles International Airport (LAX)
  • Daily nonstop seasonal service between Minneapolis/St. Paul International Airport (MSP) and Denver International Airport (DEN) running through November 6, 2013

Spirit Airlines announces new routes

Spirit Airlines (Fort Lauderdale/Hollywood) has announced that it is adding daily nonstop service between Houston’s George Bush Intercontinental Airport (IAH) and Orlando International Airport (MCO) starting February 14, 2012.

The flight will also operate as new one-stop continuation service via Dallas/Fort Worth (DFW) as DFW-IAH-MCO and MCO-IAH-DFW, complementing Spirit’s existing nonstop service between DFW and Orlando.

Spirit introduced its ultra low fare service to Houstonians in September with twice daily nonstop service to Dallas/Fort Worth, and started daily nonstop service from Houston to both Chicago O’Hare and Las Vegas in October. Spirit offers connections from Houston to 12 destinations throughout the Americas, including Baltimore/Washington, Boston, Chicago, Denver, Fort Myers, Las Vegas, Myrtle Beach, Oakland, Mesa, Portland (Oregon), Tampa, and Toluca.

Spirit offers Orlando customers nonstop service to Atlantic City, Chicago O’Hare, Dallas/Fort Worth, Detroit, Fort Lauderdale, Latrobe/Pittsburgh, and now Houston.

In other news,ย Spirit Airlines also announced it is adding nonstop service between Detroit Metropolitan Airport (DTW) and Denver International Airport (DEN) starting on February 14, 2012.

Initial service will operate daily except Tuesdays and Wednesdays, and increase to daily service on March 1, 2013.

Spirit started service at Denver International Airport in May 2012 and currently offers nonstop daily service to Chicago, Dallas/Fort Worth, Fort Lauderdale/Hollywood, Las Vegas and Mesa.

Spirit currently offers nonstop daily service from Detroit to Cancun, Dallas/Fort Worth, Fort Lauderdale/Hollywood, Fort Myers, Las Vegas, New York LaGuardia, Orlando and Tampa.

Additionally,ย Spirit Airlines has moved up the start date for its new service between Dallas/Fort Worth and Philadelphia and between Dallas/Fort Worth and Minneapolis/St. Paul. The new daily nonstop service for both flights begins on April 4, 2013.

Spirit now offers twice daily nonstop flights between Houston’s George Bush Intercontinental Airport and Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport, with connections available to 12 destinations throughout the Americas, including Baltimore, Boston, Chicago, Denver, Fort Myers, Las Vegas, Myrtle Beach, Oakland/San Francisco, Phoenix/Mesa, Portland (Oregon), Tampa, and Toluca/Mexico City.

Spirit is also introducing daily nonstop service from Houston to Chicago O’Hare and Las Vegas on October 4, 2012.

Spirit Airlines announces even more new routes

Spirit Airlines (Fort Lauderdale/Hollywood) today announced that it is adding two more new routes from Houston’s George Bush Intercontinental Airport starting October 4, 2012, including:

  • daily nonstop service between Houston and Chicago’s O’Hare International Airport and
  • daily nonstop service between Houston and Las Vegas

Spirit also recently announced it is launching twice daily nonstop service between Houston and Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport on September 20, 2012, with connections available to six destinations including, Baltimore/Washington, Las Vegas, Mesa, Tampa/St. Petersburg, Toluca, and Portland, Oregon.

Spirit Airlines also announced schedules for new service to/from Los Cabos and Cancun, Mexico starting November 8, 2012.

  • Daily nonstop service between Los Cabos, Mexico (serving Cabo San Lucas and San Jose del Cabo) and San Diego starts November 8, 2012, with connecting service to Dallas/Fort Worth.
  • In addition, four weekly nonstop flights between Los Cabos, Mexico and Dallas/Fort Worth start June 13, 2013.
  • Three weekly nonstop flights between Cancun, Mexico and Dallas/Fort Worth start April 25, 2013, with service increasing to daily on June 13, 2013.

The company alsoย announced it is adding daily nonstop service between Denver International Airport and Mesa (Phoenix-Mesa Gateway Airport) starting on October 4, 2012.

Finally the ultra-fare airlineย announced it is adding daily nonstop service between Portland International Airport and San Diego International Airport starting on November 8, 2012.

Spirit Airlines is coming to Houston on September 20

Spirit Airlines (Fort Lauderdale/Hollywood) continues to add new routes from Dallas/Fort Worth, the mega hub of bankrupt American Airlines (Dallas/Fort Worth). Spirit will start twice-daily nonstop service between Houston’s George Bush Intercontinental Airport and Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport on September 20, 2012.

The ultra low-fare airline issued the following statement today:

“Spirit Airlines is celebrating Independence Day by liberating Houston travelers from high fares.ย  The carrier today announced that it is introducing its popular ultra low fares to customers traveling between Houston and Dallas/Fort Worth.ย  Twice daily nonstop service between Houston’s George Bush Intercontinental Airport and Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport begins September 20, 2012, with connections available to six destinations throughout the Americas, including, Baltimore/Washington, Las Vegas, Phoenix/Mesa, Tampa/St. Petersburg, Toluca/Mexico City, and Portland, Oregon.”
