AeroSvit Ukrainian Airlines to fly Antonov An-148 internationally next month

AeroSvit Ukrainian Airlines (Kiev) will start operating its new Antonov An-148 to Russia starting next month. The new type has been operating on domestic routes.

Air France takes delivery of its first Airbus A380

Air France (Paris) as planned took delivery of its first Airbus A380 yesterday (October 30). A380-861 F-HPJA (msn 033, ex F-WWSB) was accepted by the flag carrier.

Armavia adds Bahrain, SuperJet 100 delayed

Armavia (Yerevan) added Bahrain as a new destination on October 26, 2009.

Meanwhile in other news, the delivery of the first SuperJet 100 has been delayed by “several months” according to published reports.

QANTAS Airways’ (Sydney) normal sterling reputation took another hit again when some of its London-bound QF 31 passengers where stranded for 26 hours in Sydney after two Airbus A380s had mechanical problems. Critics have stated that outsourcing of maintenance for the past 18 months has hurt the company’s reputation and led to several well-documented incidents.

Air France to bring A380 to Paris Orly Nov. 11

Air France (Paris) is planning to bring its first Airbus A380 to Paris (Orly) on November 11 at 1700 local time for airport familiarization (as an alternate airport). AF is due to take delivery of F-HPJA (msn 033) on October 30 and the new type will go into revenue service on November 23 between Paris (CDG) and New York (JFK).

British Airways (London) tomorrow (September 29) will launch new Airbus A318 business class service (with 32 seats) from downtown City Airport in London to New York (JFK) via Shannon. Passengers will clear U.S. Customs at Shannon while the airliner is being refueled.

Air France (Paris) will take delivery of its first Airbus A380-861 (F-HPJA, msn 033, ex F-WWSB) in a ceremony at Hamburg (Finkenwerder) on October 30. The new type is due to be introduced on the Paris (CDG)-New York (JFK) route on November 23, 2009.

East Star Air (Wuhan) has lost its effort to restructure its debt and resume operations. The Wuhan Intermediate People’s Court rejected the restructuring plan backed by ChinaEquity on August 27, 2009. The court declared the ChinaEquity funding proposal was too vague and unspecified. China’s fourth private airline suspended operations previously on ย March 15, 2009.

Wataniya Airways (Kuwait City) lost $20.6 million in its first half of 2009. The young airline launched operations on January 24, 2009. The company will take delivery of its four Airbus A320 in October.
