Jet Airways adds new frequencies to Doha, Colombo and Bangkok

Jet Airways (Mumbai) meanwhile is adding additional frequencies from Mumbai to Far East and the gulf region. These additional frequencies are being introduced from Mumbai to Doha, to Colombo and to Bangkok.

The company is adding a second frequency from Mumbai to Doha. Jet Airways flight 9W 560 will depart Mumbai at 0120 and arrive Doha at 0245 (local time). The return flight 9W 559 will depart Doha at 0345 (LT) and arrive into Mumbai at 0930, providing connectivity to key domestic destinations. A new airline alliance: Etihad Airways Partners is unveiled

Etihad Airways Partners logo (LRW)

Etihad Airways (Abu Dhabi) today (October 8) unveiled Etihad Airways Partners, a new brand which brings together like-minded airlines to offer customers more choice through improved networks and schedules and enhanced frequent flyer benefits.

Initially, six airlines will participate in the new partnership – Airberlin, Air Serbia, Air Seychelles, Jet Airways, Darwin Airline (Etihad Regional), and Etihad Airways.

However, any airline can become an Etihad Airways Partner even if it is part of an existing alliance, such as Airberlin, which is a member of oneworld.

The key emphasis for Etihad Airways Partners is a strong commercial partnership and shared values.

James Hogan, President and Chief Executive Officer of Etihad Airways, said โ€œWe are broadening our business model to articulate and define a partner proposition for like-minded airlines which will result in synergies and efficiencies for participating airlines on the one side, and enhanced network choice, service and frequent flyer benefits for the consumer on the other.

โ€œThe Etihad Airways Partners logo is a seal of excellence and global cooperation. It will be displayed on aircraft and on branded materials by a group of airlines working together to connect travellers around the world, and increasingly to harmonise standards in the air and on the ground.โ€

Mr Hogan said Etihad Airways Partners differed from legacy airline alliances by offering benefits well beyond pure commercial cooperation.

โ€œThe potential for network alignment to maximise flight connectivity for passengers, together with a shared passion for superior service, are central to the ethos of the Etihad Airways Partner concept,โ€ he said.

โ€œFrequent flyers will benefit from the formation of Etihad Airways Partners as it will remove the complexity and confusion that exists within the global alliances.

โ€œWeโ€™re aiming to deliver a consistent experience for frequent flyers when they travel, as well as a consistent framework for earning and using their miles.โ€

This will include standardised mileage and tier benefits across all partners, no blackout periods and priority services.

Etihad Airways Partners will also have access to economies of scale and operational synergies such as centers of excellence, shared sales teams in certain destinations, joint procurement of services and supplies, and shared pilot and cabin crew training at the Etihad Airways facilities in Abu Dhabi.

Jet Airways to discontinue the JetKonnect brand

Jet Airways (Mumbai) has issued this statement about consolidating all of its operations under a stronger Jet Airways brand:

Jet Airways has announced that it will streamline and align its domestic operation, creating a strong, uniform Jet Airways master brand, simultaneously revitalizing its product and service offering.

Naresh Goyal, Chairman of Jet Airways, said: โ€œThe publication of our first quarter results shows we have made demonstrable progress in the implementation of our three-year turnaround strategy to return Jet Airways to profitability.

โ€œHowever there are still challenges in the very competitive market in which we operate. Our next critical step will be re-establishing Jet Airways as a master brand in India.

โ€œThis means harnessing our proud heritage and original values in one consistent, predictable and clearly recognisable brand.

โ€œOver the next few months, you will see this brand reflected across our entire business – in the livery, staff uniforms, the interiors, the product and service offering, and the frequent flyer program.

โ€œI give you my commitment, that by the end of the year, Jet Airways will have the best domestic full-service product in India. We will always be competitive to ensure our customers get the best value for their money.โ€

Subject to government approvals, the Jet Airways master brand will cover the whole fleet including services currently operated by JetLite, to deliver a consistent, high quality experience for guests. The Jet Airways master brand will provide operational flexibility across the airlineโ€™s domestic fleet.

JetKonnect logo

JetLite currently operates a fleet of 11 aircraft under the JetKonnectโ„ข brand deployed across Jet Airwaysโ€™ domestic network which includes more than 50 cities. These aircraft will be progressively repainted in the Jet Airways livery over the coming months.

In order to address the challenges of the increasingly competitive domestic market and better meet the needs of the Indian travelling public, the airline will further enhance its domestic product offering, including improving connectivity within India and to and from international services, along with the expansion of codeshare partnerships.

A full service Business Class offering will implemented across all operations to ensure a premium experience on the ground and in the air, along with reciprocal frequent flyer rewards and recognition in partnership with Etihad Guest.

Domestic Economy Class will provide a differentiated offering to address the needs of travellers seeking value and competitive fares, while ensuring service continuity with inbound international flights.

The enhanced domestic offering will provide a quality product with exclusive value adds, including premium seating, lounge passes, and higher baggage allowances than competitors.

Uniquely, JetPrivilege, which has recently announced an enhanced accrual and redemption structure, will provide more benefits and privileges for Jet Airways domestic frequent flyers. In addition to the minimum 500 miles per flight, they will now also gain tier and recognition benefits and be able to redeem domestic miles on international flights of Jet Airways and Etihad Airways, with plans to expand the benefits to its partner airlines

In conclusion, Naresh Goyal said: โ€œThese exciting changes once again demonstrate Jet Airways unwavering commitment to provide our guests with an exceptional experience whenever they travel.

โ€œBy taking care of our guests, we ensure the success and relevance of our business in the future.โ€

Etihad Airways has taken a strategic investment of 24 percent of the stock so things are bound to change soon. Efforts to cut costs have been going on for a long time although the financial situation continues to worsens. What will happen next?
