Transafrik International’s Lockheed 382E Hercules 5X-TUC crashes in Afghanistan

Transafrik International (Luanda) lost its eight crew members and its Lockheed 382E Hercules registered 5X-TUC (msn 4362) in a crash in Afghanistan yesterday (October 12). The cargo aircraft was flying for National Airlines (5th) (National Air Cargo) (Ypsilanti) on flight 662 from Bagram Air Force Base to Kabul. The freighter crashed as it approached Kabul. The Hercules once was operated by Southern Air Transport (1st) as N522SJ.

EuroAtlantic adds larger titles to L-1011 CS-TEB

EuroAtlantic Airways (Lisbon) has upgraded the livery on its Lockheed L-1011-385-3 TriStar 500 CS-TEB (msn 1240) to the 2005 colors which features larger titles.

Lynden Air Cargo is flying relief flights

Lynden Air Cargo (Anchorage) is flying relief charter flights with emergency supplies to both Apia, Samoa and Padang, Indonesia.

ANA to introduce 1969 Boeing 767-300 retrojet

ANA (All Nippon Airways) (Tokyo-Haneda) will soon be unveiling a 1969 retrojet on aย Boeing 767-300. It will enter service onย December 1, 2009, initially on the Tkoyo (Haneda)-Miyazakiย and Tokyo (Haneda)-Kagoshima routes. ANA plans to retainย this retrojet livery for four years. This “Mohican Blue” color scheme was introduced in 1969 with the first Boeing 737-200. The current two-tone blue color scheme was introduced in 1983 and is called “Triton Blue”.

The Trans-Canada Connie is coming to Seattle

This Lockheed 1049G Super G Constellation registered CF-TGE (msn 4544) has been lovingly restored to Trans-Canada Air Lines (now Air Canada) colors and will be dismantled and trucked to Seattle for the final display in the future at the Museum of Flight in Seattle. ย It is currently located in Rome, NY.

Airline History Museum (Kansas City-Wheeler Downtown Airport) will take delivery of ex-TWA Lockheed L-1011-385-1 TriStar N700TS (msn 193B-1066, ex TWA N31019) next Sunday (April 26) according to the Kansas City Star. Paul Pristo of Arizona is donating the jetliner to the museum. It will be converted to a 300-seat auditorium for school groups. The type has never landed at the downtown airport. TWA moved from the Downtown Airport (MKC) to Kansas City International Airport (MCI) in 1972 when the L-1011 was being introduced. The L-1011 is due to arrive at MKC at 1400 (2 p.m.) local time on April 26. It will be open for free tours on the same day.
