Braathens Regional ATR 72-600 (13)(Flt)(ATR)(LR)

ATR and Sweden-based Braathens Aviation (Braathens Regional) (Stockholm-Bromma) today signed a contract for the purchase of five ATR 72-600s and 10 optional aircraft as part of the companyโ€™s fleet upgrade strategy. Deliveries will commence at the end of 2015.

The new aircraft, which will seat 72 passengers, will be operated on the carrierโ€™s regional services in Sweden.. The ATR 72-600 will join an existing fleet of 5 ATR 72-500 airplanes operated by Braathens Regional from its base at Bromma Airport (Stockholm City Airport). The new ATR planes will enable Braathens Aviation to press on with an expansion plan and replace aging Saab 2000 units, while its overall ATR fleet will grow.

Malmo Aviation orders 5 Bombardier CS100s and 5 CS300s

Malmรถย Aviation (Stockholm-Bromma) via Braathens Leasing Limited, a member of Braathens Aviation of Sweden,ย has placed a firm order for fiveย Bombardierย CS100ย and fiveย CS300ย jetliners. Braathens also took options on an additional 10ย CSeriesย aircraft.

Theย CSeriesย aircraft will be operated by Malmรถ Aviation from its base at the Bromma-Stockholm City Airport in downtown Stockholm. Malmรถ Aviation currently operates 12 BAe (Avro) aircraft (one RJ70, two RJ85 and seven RJ100s).

Braathensย of Norway acquired full control of Malmo Aviation in August 1998 and in early 1999 integrated Braathens Sweden (formerlyย Transwede) into Malmรถ Aviation. In December 2001 Malmo Aviation became an independent airline owned by Braganza AS/Bramora. This was the result of theย Scandinavian Airlinesย (SAS) acquisition of Braathens in which Malmรถ Aviation, for legal reasons, was not included. It is now wholly owned by Braathens Aviation.

The Braathens/Malmo Aviation order brings the total to 100 firm orders for the 110-145-seater aircraft, which is set to enter the market in late-2013. This order also breaks a 16-month order lull.
