Transaero Airlines starts its interline agreement with WestJet

Transaero Airlines (Moscow) has announced that its interline agreement with WestJet (Calgary) has taken effect offering Transaero passengers new opportunities for travel from Moscow. Via connections in Toronto (Pearson) and Los Angeles, Transaero passengers can now access the extensive WestJet network throughout Canada, the United States, Mexico, the Caribbean, and Central America.

Now Transaero passengers are able to purchase tickets on connecting flights from Moscow via Toronto to destinations within WestJet’s route network in Canada, including Vancouver, Calgary, Edmonton, Montreal, Ottawa, Winnipeg, and many others.

In the near future, in addition to WestJet’s domestic routes, Transaero will offer its passengers connecting flights via Toronto to many WestJet’s destinations outside of Canada such as Phoenix, Honolulu, Kailua-Kona, Kahului, Lihue, Los Angeles, Palm Springs, San Diego, San Francisco, Anaheim, Las Vegas, New York, Miami, Orlando, Tampa, Fort Lauderdale, Fort Myers, Myrtle Beach, Bahamas, Bermuda, the Dominican Republic, Costa Rica, Cuba, Mexico, and Jamaica.

The agreement also provides the opportunities for connecting flights via Los Angeles with WestJet flights to Vancouver, Calgary, and Edmonton.

In other news, Transaero will start a new daily route with Boeing 737-800s between Moscow (Vnukovo) and Istanbul (Ataturk) on October 27.

Transaero Airlines to add new routes to Dubai and Havana, announces a new interline agreement with Virgin America

Transaero Airlines (Moscow) will add new service from Moscow (Vnukovo) to Dubai (six days per week) starting on September 20 per Airline Route.

Additionally the Russian carrier will launch a new weekly route Moscow (Domodedovo) to Havana for the winter season starting on December 28 through March 29, 2014.

Transaeroย has also announced the launch of its Interline Agreement and Special Pro-Rate Agreement (SPA) with Virgin America (San Francisco):

The interline agreement will provide opportunities for Transaeroโ€™s passengers to acquire e-tickets for travel between Moscow and the extensive route network of Virgin America in the United States via the connecting cities of Los Angeles and New York. And,ย vice versa, US travellers can now start their journey with Virgin Americaโ€™s flight to Los Angeles or New York and continue their journey to Moscow on board of Transaeroโ€™s flights.

The Special Pro-rate Agreement signed between the Russian and US carrier allows passengers to buy tickets for the flights of these two airlines on certain routes at special competitive prices. Special fares are available on the routes between Moscow with a connection in Los Angeles to such US cities as Washington, Boston, Fort Lauderdale/Hollywood, Orlando, Dallas/Fort Worth, Seattle/Tacoma, Portland (Oregon), San Jose, San Francisco and Las Vegas. Moreover, the through fares also offered on routes between Moscow and San Francisco or Las Vegas via New York.

At present, Transaero operates scheduled nonstop flights to three US cities: New York (JFK), Miami and Los Angeles. In addition to this, Transaeroโ€™s passengers can take advantage of the airlineโ€™s current partnership agreements with the leading airlines to get to a number of destinations in North America. Under the code-share agreement with Singapore Airlines Transaero offers direct flight from Moscow to Houston. In accordance with the code-share agreement with Virgin Atlantic passengers can travel between Moscow and San Francisco, Boston and Orlando with a connection in London. The Interline agreement with United Airlines allows passengers to get to nearly all destination points of this airline in the US.

Transaero Airlines’ 2012 net profit drops by 51% to $28.7 million

Transaero Airlines (Moscow) has issued the following short statement concerning its financial performance during 2012.

Transaero Airlines has published its financial results under RAS for 2012 which demonstrate the Companyโ€™s growth.

โ€ข Revenue from all activities in 2012 reached RUB 97.6bln, 13% more than in 2011
โ€ข Traffic revenue from in 2012 made up RUB 90.3bln, a 35% increase on 2011
โ€ข Revenue from asset transactions decreased by 64% and reached RUB 6.8 bln
โ€ขย The Companyโ€™s revenue grew faster than prime costs and expenses.
โ€ข Transaeroโ€™s sales revenue increased 2.9 times over 2011, to RUB 7 bln

Net profit reached RUB 902 million ($28.7 million), a 51% decrease over 2011. The Companyโ€™s profit was mainly ensured by revenues from the main carrierโ€™s activities. Transaero has achieved these results amid a significant growth of air fuel price, social payment and taxes.

In other news, the Russian airline added twice-weekly Boeing 737-500 service from St. Petersburg to Kaliningrad on May 12 in competition against Rossiya Airlines per Anna Aero.

Kaliningrad is a seaportย cityย and theย administrative capitalย of theย Kaliningrad Oblast, theย Russianย exclaveย located betweenย Polandย andย Lithuaniaย on theย Baltic Sea. This enclaveย isย geographically separated from the rest of Russia.

Sberbank orders 12 Boeing 737-800s for Transaero Airlines

Boeing (Chicago), Sberbank of Russia and its wholly owned subsidiary, Sberbank Leasing, have reached an agreement on an order for 12 Next-Generation 737-800s. The airplanes are intended for operational leasing under Sberbank’s contract with Transaero Airlines (Moscow).

Transaero Airlines starts Moscow-Rome flights

Transaero Airlines (Moscow) today (June 27) launched nonstop Moscow (Vnukovo)-Rome (Fiumicino) service with Boeing 777-200s.

Initiallyย  Transaeroโ€™s flightsย  UN 399/400 between Moscow and Rome will be operated five times a weekย  (except Mondays and Tuesdays) under the following schedule.

Departures from Moscowย  at 9:15 am (0915), arrivals in Romeย  at 10:50 am (1050).ย  Departures from Rome at 11:40 am (1140), arrivals in Moscow at 5:10 pm (1710).ย  All times local.

From September 24, 2012, the service willย  be offered daily.

Eventually Boeing 737 aircraft with two-classย  configuration including Business and Economy classes of services will beย  operated on the Moscow โ€“ Rome route.

Transaero Airlines firms up its order for four Airbus A380s

Transaero Airlines (Moscow), Russiaโ€™s second largest airline, has completed a purchase agreement with Airbus for four A380-800 aircraft. The agreement was signed today (June 21) by Olga Pleshakova, Transaero Airlines CEO and Christopher Buckley, Airbusโ€™ Executive Vice President Europe, Asia and the Pacific on the first day of the Saint Petersburg International Economic Forum. This order follows a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) signed in October 2011. The deal will be financed with the support of VEB Leasing.

Transaero becomes the first customer for the A380 in Russia, the CIS and Eastern Europe. The Russian carrier plans to start operations with the A380 on its long-range network of high density routes from Moscow. The aircraft will feature a three class cabin layout, seating about 700 passengers. Transaero will announce the engine selection soon.

Including todayโ€™s orders for four A380 from Transaero, the total A380 order book stands at 257 aircraft from 20 customers worldwide. To date, Airbus has delivered 77 aircraft to eight customers.

Transaero Airlines (Moscow) andย Row 44, Inc., provider of the world’s leading In-Flight Broadband Entertainment Ecosystem, announced Russia’s first private airline, will soon enable its passengers to enjoy broadband Internet access and innovative in-flight services aboard the company’s narrow-body and 767 fleets.

Transaero selected Row 44’s broadband entertainment platform to deliver a wide variety of in-flight services โ€“ ranging from true broadband Internet access to live television, e-commerce, video on demand, and bookable destination services. All services will be accessible through the passenger’s own Wi-Fi devices across the airline’s routes within and from Russia to North America, the Caribbean, Europe, North Africa, and the Middle East.

Transaero Airlines acquires AAAE MRO in Shannon, Ireland

Transaero Airlines (Moscow) has finalized a deal on taking over an aircraft maintenance station at Shannon airport. ย The former Air Atlanta Aero Engineering (AAAE) now operates as Transaero Engineering Ireland, a 100% subsidiary of Transaero Airlines.

The company, founded in 1959, commenced operations in the current hangar facility in October 2002. ย The hangar can accommodate wide and narrow-body aircraft. ย The building consists of 65,000 square feet of hangar space and 25,000 square feet of offices.ย  The current configuration of the facility allows for two to three lines of heavy maintenance, a casualty or line maintenance bay and parking for aircraft in storage programs.

According to the Russian airline, “Transaero Engineering Ireland approvals include EASA, FAA, Cayman, Bermuda, Nigeria, UAE, Chad, Canadian amongst others.

Employing 240 high qualified and dedicated staff Transaero Engineering Ireland provides it’s customers a highly personalized, high quality, cost effective service that delivers.ย  The company intends to increase staff numbers shortly.”

Transaero Engineering Irelandโ€™s is certified to carry out MRO on the Boeing 737, 757 and 767 aircraft as well as business-jets and VIP aircraft.ย  Currently Transaero Engineering Irelandโ€™s staff are undergoing EASA 147 training on theย Boeing 747 and Boeing 777 aircraft to enhance the current aircraft coverage approvals for the facility.

On the financial side, the airline reversed a previous quarterly loss and produced a $508,000 net profit in the first quarter according to ATW.

Transaero Airlines signs its contract for four Boeing 787 Dreamliners

Transaero Airlines (Moscow) hasย signed a firm order for four 787-8 Dreamliners. The signing ceremony for the order, valued at $744 million at list prices, made history by being held onboard the 787 during a demonstration flight for Transaero’s executives, employees and special guests.

Captain Evgeny Nikitin, Commander of Transaero’s 767/777 flying unit, was co-piloting the 787 during the entire flight from takeoff to landing as the signing ceremony took place.

Made primarily from composite materials, the Boeing 787 Dreamliner is the first mid-size airplane capable of flying long-range routes and will allow airlines to open new, nonstop routes preferred by the traveling public. As a result of innovative technologies, the airplane offers unparalleled operating economics, fuel efficiency and passenger comfort. More than 850 787s are on order by 59 customers, a testament to the airplane’s unique capabilities. Russia played an important role in creating this revolutionary airplane. Engineers from the Moscow Boeing Design Center participated in designing a number of key sections of the 787. Russian manufacturer VSMPO-AVISMA supplies titanium parts for the 787 Dreamliner.
