WestJet expands its relationship with American

WestJet (Calgary) has announced it will begin code-sharing on American Airlines flights to 16 new cities beyond Dallas-Fort Worth in conjunction with WestJet’s new, nonstop service between Calgary and Dallas-Fort Worth launching on April 29, 2013.ย  WestJet and American Airlines together will provide three round-trip flights per day between the two cities.

The WestJet code has now been added on American Airlines-operated routes connecting through Dallas-Fort Worth to Albuquerque, N.M., Austin, Texas, Nashville, Tenn., Charlotte, N.C., Fort Lauderdale/Hollywood, Fla., Jacksonville, Fla., Kansas City, Mo., Orlando, Fla., Miami, Fla., New Orleans, La., Oklahoma City, Okla., Raleigh-Durham, N.C., San Antonio, Texas, St. Louis, Mo., Tampa, Fla., and Tulsa, Okla.

Two new destinations out of Chicago will also be available via the American Airlines partnership. Flights out of Chicago to Charlotte, N.C., and Fort Myers, Fla., will also operate under the code-share agreement.

WestJet and Air France expand their relationship

WestJet Airlines (Calgary) and Air France (Paris) today announced they have entered into a code-share agreement enabling Air France to offer its customers 10 new Canadian destinations operated by WestJet.

The “AF” code is now on select WestJet flights connecting from Toronto to Vancouver, Edmonton, Saskatoon, Regina, Thunder Bay, Ottawa, Quebec City, Saint-John’s, Moncton and Halifax. Winnipeg and Calgary flights also bear the French carrier’s code for both Toronto and Montreal connections to Air France’s direct flights to Paris.

This is the ninth code-share agreement for WestJet which, additionally, has twenty-one interline relationships.

Arik Air resumes domestic operations

Arik Air (Arik Wings of Nigeria) (Lagos) yesterday (September 23) according to Bloomberg Businessweek resumed domestic operations after a dispute was resolved with the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria union. The union had blocked aircraft gates on September 20 at Lagos due to unpaid bills. International flights to west Africa, London, New York and Johannesburg were not impacted.
