Czech Airlines is now operating Boeing 737-436 OK-WGY for DanubeWings

Czech Airlines-CSA (Prague) starting today (December 1) has wet leased its Boeing 737-436 OK-WGY (msn 25839) to DanubeWings (DanubeWings.com) (Bratislava). DanubeWings today launched jet service with OK-WGY from Poprad-Tatry to London (Luton), Dublin and Manchester.

Czech Airlines-CSA (Prague) is operating its Airbus A320-214 OK-GEB (msn 1450) on a dry lease to Aircalin-Air Caledonie International (Noumea).

 

Czech loses over $100 million, survival in doubt

Czech Airlines-CSA (Prague) lost over $100 million in the first half of this year. According to its management, the flag carrier is fighting for its survival.

Czech Airlines-CSA (Prague) due to decreased demand, will drop its long range route to New York (JFK) at the beginning of the winter season. The two Airbus A310s will be redeployed to charter operations.

Czech Airlines to fly Prague-Novosibirsk

Czech Airlines-CSA (Prague) will add a new Airbus A319 route connecting the Prague hub with Novosibirsk in central Russia starting on April 28. The new route will be operated twice a week. Czech is adding new routes to Russia.

The Czech government has narrowed the potential winning bidder for stated-owned Czech Airlines-CSA (Prague) down to two bidders – Air France-KLM and the Czech consortium of Unimex-Travel Service Airlines (Prague). The government wants to sell its 91.5 percent stake in the flag carrier. Czech Airlines is a fellow member of the SkyTeam Alliance with Air France-KLM. Aeroflot Russian Airlines has been eliminated from the bidding.

Aeroflot (Moscow) has submitted a tender offer to the Ministry of Finance with the intent to buy the Czech government’s 91.5 percent share of the state airline.

In other news, Czech Airlines will start serving Novosibirsk and Tashkent at the end of March for the summer season.

Czech Airlines leases Nayzak two 737-400s

Czech Airlines-CSA (Prague) has finalized a lease of two 162-passenger Boeing 737-400s to Nayzak Air Transport (Tripoli). The lease will run through May 2010. Previously Nayzak signed a lease for three 737-400s from Centralwings. The private airline was formed in 2005 and commenced operations on June 6, 2006.
