Island Air takes delivery of its first ATR 72 and introduces a new look

Island Air (Hawaii) (Honolulu) has taken delivery of its first ATR 72-200. The pictured former American Eagle Airlines (Executive Airlines) ATR 72-212 registered as N348AE (msn 349) arrived at the pictured Honolulu base on September 23. N348AE will become N941WP with Island Air. The new type also introduces this new livery.

American Eagle launches DFW-Joplin flights

American Eagle Airlines (2nd) yesterday (February 10) launched new twice-daily nonstop service from Joplin Regional Airport in Joplin, MO, to Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport (DFW). The new route will be operated with ATR 72-212A (ATR 72-500) aircraft flown by Executive Airlines (2nd) (San Juan).

In other route news, American Eagle also launched yesterday daily nonstop regional jet service from Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport to two new destinations in Mexico โ€“ General Heriberto Jara International Airport in Veracruz, using 50-seat Embraer ERJ 145 regional jet aircraft; and Queretaro International Airport in Queretaro, using 37-seat Embraer ERJ 135 regional jets. The ERJs are operated by American Eagle Airlines.

American Eagle to operate Miami-Gainesville flights

American Eagle Airlines (Dallas/Fort Worth) announced nonstop service between Miami International Airport (MIA) and Gainesville Regional Airport (GNV) in Gainesville, FL, beginning on October 1. Executive Airlines will operate the new service with its 64-seat ATR 72-200 aircraft.

American applies for Haneda authority, will resume PAP on February 19

American Airlines (Dallas/Fort Worth) yesterday (February 16)ย filed an application with the U.S. Department of Transportation (DOT) to acquire two daily slot pairs to operate year-round scheduled service toย Tokyoย International Airport at Haneda (HND), startingย October 1, 2010. ย American proposes to fly to Haneda fromย New York’s John F.ย Kennedyย International Airport (JFK) andย Los Angeles International Airport (LAX), the two largest markets between the U.S. mainland andย Tokyo.

In other news, American Airlines will resume service intoย Port-au-Prince, Haiti (PAP), beginning Friday, February 19. The first flight will depart from American’s hub at Miamiย International Airport atย 6:40 a.m. EST (0640), arriving atย Port-au-Princeย atย 8:35 a.m. EST (0835). This flight marks the first commercial passenger aircraft intoย Haitiย since the earthquake that devastated the country onย January 12.

American will offer three daily nonstop flights โ€“ two fromย Miamiย International Airport and one fromย Fort Lauderdale/Hollywoodย International Airport. In addition, American will offer one flight fromย New York’s John F. Kennedy International Airport four times per week. American will operate flights intoย Port-au-Prince’s Toussaint L’Ouverture International Airport with its Boeing 737-800 and 767-300 aircraft.

Startingย March 12, American Eagle (Executive Airlines) will begin new service intoย Haitiย from itsย San Juan, Puerto Rico, hub. The airline will offer a daily nonstop flight as well as two flights through two cities in theย Dominican Republicย โ€“Santo Domingoย andย Santiago. American Eagle will operate its ATR 72 aircraft on flights intoย Haiti.
