Jet2 to add four new routes from Leeds/Bradford for the summer of 2015

Jet2 (Leeds/Bradford) has announced four new destinations for the summer of 2015 for Leeds/Bradford:ย Antalya, Kefalonia, Malta andย Enfidha Airport in Tunisia starting on May 27, 2015..

The company is also adding new services from its key Northern airports; East Midlands, Glasgow, Manchester and Newcastle.

In other news, Jet2.com and Jet2holidays have announced further expansion plans at Glasgow Airport, including new routes, an additional aircraft (the sixth at GLA) plus even more seats for summer 2015. The new routes include Prague โ€“ a brand new route for Glasgow airport โ€“ plus Antalya, Larnaca and Malta.

Ryanair to launch three new routes to and from Scotland on October 26

Ryanair (Dublin) has announced significant growth for Scotland with three new routes between Edinburgh and London (Stansted), Glasgow and London (Stansted) and Glasgow and Dublin (three times daily), as well as a new base at Glasgow International (Ryanairโ€™s 69th in total).

Ryanairโ€™s existing once daily flight from Glasgow Prestwick to Dublin will now switch to Glasgow International as part of an expanded three times daily business service between Glasgow and Dublin. Despite this switch Ryanair remains committed to its long standing base at Prestwick where the airline has a major maintenance facility and is currently in discussions with Glasgow Prestwick and the Scottish Government, its new owners, to explore growth opportunities to/from Prestwick Airport.

From October 26, 2014, Ryanair will base three Boeing 737-800s at Edinburgh, one at Glasgow (International) and one at Glagow (Prestwick).

Europe Airpost to fly to Glasgow and Halifax next summer

Europe Airpost (formerly L’ Aeropostale) (Paris-CDG) in December announced the launch of a series of scheduled flights departing from Paris (Charles de Gaulle) to Glasgow and Halifax Stanfield International Airport during the 2014 summer season.

The flights will operate weekly betweenย July 4 and August 29, 2014.

The schedule for the new routes is as follows:

Thursday:

  • Departs from Paris-CDG 1:00 p.m. โ€“ Arrives in Glasgow 1:40 p.m.
  • Departs from Glasgow 2:30 p.m. โ€“ Arrives in Halifax 5:00 p.m.

Friday:

  • Departs from Halifax 10:00 a.m. โ€“ Arrives in Glasgow 8:00 p.m.
  • Departs from Glasgow 8:50 p.m. โ€“ Arrives in Paris-CDG 11:30 p.m.

All times specified are local and subject to government approval.

The flights will be carried out with a Boeing 737-700, configured in a two-class lay-out, with a capacity of 128 seats: 24 in Premium Economy class and 104 in Economy class.

Jet2 announces three new destinations from Glasgow

Jet2 (Jet2.com) (Leeds/Bradford) is adding three new destinations from Glasgow for the next summer season. The three new destinations will includeย Murcia (Spain), which will take off every Monday and Friday from May 24, 2013. Flights to the Eastern Medโ€™s Croatian resort,ย Pula,ย will start onย June 18, 2013. Finally, the airline will operate weekly flights to Menorcaย starting on May 25, 2013. ย Jet2 will fly toย 19 destinationsย from Glasgow in the summer of 2013.

British Airways to retire the last Boeing 757 (G-CPET) on October 30

British Airways (London) is planning to retire its last Boeing 757-200 from revenue service on October 30, visiting Shuttle cities on the last day. An Ian Allan special enthusiast charter flight from London to Manchester is also being planned for November 6. BA will paint the last 757 in this delivery livery to celebrate over 17 years of faithful service. The last three 757s currently in service are G-CPER, G-CPES and G-CPET (besides those operated by OpenSkies).

Update: Boeing 757-236 G-CPET (msn 29115) entered the paint shop on September 26 and is expected to be rolled out at London (Heathrow) on October 3 in the retrojet color scheme.

Highland Airways enters into receivership (bankruptcy)

The fleet adopted this attractive Atlantic Airlines (now West Atlantic) color scheme in 2003 when the owners of Atlantic Holdings acquired Highland Airways. However in March 2007 Highland Airways underwent a management buyout from Atlantic Holdings led by A. Mossman but retained the livery until the end.

Highland Airways (UK) (Inverness) went into receivership (bankruptcy protection) today (March 25) and has suspended all operations.

The airline was established and started operations in 1991 as Air Alba, operating for four years as a flying school. The company was renamed Highland Airways in February 1997 and expanded into scheduled operations. It was operating eight BAe Jetstream 31s, two Jetstream 41s and a single Britten-Norman Islander.

Moskovia Airlines (formerly Gromov Air) (Moscow-Zhukovsky) has added its first Boeing 737-700. The new type has also helped to usher in a new color scheme.
