JetBlue Airways and Turkish Airlines today announce a codeshare agreement

JetBlue Airways (New York) and Turkish Airlines (Istanbul) today announced the launch of a unilateral codeshare to provide expanded travel options for customers worldwide.

Turkish Airlines is now placing its “TK” code unilaterally on select JetBlue-operated flights to/from New York’s John F. Kennedy International Airport and Boston Logan International Airport. Flights are available for sale through travel agencies and Turkish Airlines reservations for travel beginning today.

The JetBlue-Turkish Airlines codeshare allows customers to purchase tickets combining flights on both carriers and enjoy one-stop ticketing and baggage check-in on their day of departure.

Turkish Airlines offers up to three daily flights between New York and its hub at Istanbul Ataturk Airport, and today inaugurates the first-ever nonstop service between Istanbul and Boston. At Boston Logan International Airport, JetBlue offers more flights to more destinations than any other airline.

Via Istanbul, Turkish Airlines offers onward connections to destinations in Europe, Africa, the Middle East, South Asia, and the Far East. Turkish Airlines offers one of the most expansive route networks in the world, currently spanning 247 destinations in 106 countries.

Through JetBlue, international travelers will have access to 24 key U.S. destinations including Baltimore, Maryland; Buffalo, New York; Detroit, Michigan; Jacksonville, Florida; Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood, Florida; Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania; Raleigh/Durham, North Carolina; Rochester, New York; and Tampa, Florida.

Delta to offer year-round flights to Zurich and expanded service to Rome

Delta Air Lines (Atlanta) will offer new year-round daily service from John F. Kennedy International Airport to Zurich Airport and expanded service to Rome’s Leonardo Da Vinci International Airport.

The Zurich flight will be operated using a Boeing 767-300 ER aircraft featuring full flat-bed seats with direct aisle access in the BusinessElite cabin. Daily Zurich service will begin effective June 16, 2014 and during the summer will complement the airline’s existing service from Atlanta. Rome service will operate daily from April to October on an Airbus A330-300 aircraft, and then five times per week in November, December and March on a Boeing 767-300 ER aircraft in conjunction with Delta joint venture partner Alitalia.

Effective this winter, Delta and its joint venture partners Air France-KLM and Alitalia are also expanding service to key European hubs at Paris Charles De Gaulle International Airport and Amsterdam Schiphol International Airport from Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport. From Atlanta, the joint venture will offer additional daily nonstop service for a total of four daily flights to both Amsterdam* and Paris, timed to provide customers with more connecting opportunities to destinations throughout Europe, the Middle East and Africa.

Beginning July 1, 2014, Delta will operate three updated Boeing 757-200 aircraft with full flat-bed seats on the trans-continental route between New York (JFK) and Los Angeles (LAX). These will be the first 757 aircraft in service to feature Delta’s previously announced upgrades including full flat-bed seats in BusinessElite on transcon flights between JFK and LAX, SFO and SEA. All trans-con flights on these routes will feature full flat-bed seats by summer 2015.

JetBlue announces seasonal New York (JFK)-Hyannis flights starting on June 26

JetBlue Airways (New York) has announced Hyannis, Massachusetts as the 86th BlueCity. Hyannis/Cape Cod marks JetBlue’s 64th nonstop route from New York (JFK), where the airline will offer seasonal service with one daily flight between June 26 and September 9, 2014.

Hyannis, referred by many as the “Capital of the Cape,” is the largest of the seven villages in the city of Barnstable, Massachusetts, and the commercial and transportation hub of Cape Cod.

JetBlue’s new route will follow the schedule below:

JFK-HYA

Depart: 11:59 a.m. / Arrive 1:05 p.m.

HYA-JFK

Depart: 1:45 p.m. / 2:53 p.m.

In other news, JetBlue has announced an agreement to sell LiveTV to the Thales Group.

According to the carrier, “the relationship with LiveTV is not going away. Rather, this important customer relationship is expanding. JetBlue will continue to benefit from having access to current and future LiveTV IFE and connectivity products. Specifically, with the sale of LiveTV, we entered into two long-term agreements with LiveTV to continue and enhance both Fly-Fi connectivity and the IFE experience for Customers.”

JetBlue Airways:

JetBlue to fly to Cartagena, Colombia

JetBlue Airways (New York) plans to add another Caribbean gem to its network: Cartagena, the vibrant city on Colombia’s Caribbean coast. Starting on November 2, 2012, subject to receipt of government approval, travelers will be able to fly to and from New York’s John F. Kennedy International Airport three times per week – the only nonstop service between New York and Cartagena.

Cartagena will be JetBlue’s second destination in Colombia and its third route to the country. Earlier this summer, JetBlue added a daily Fort Lauderdale/Hollywood to Bogota service to complement its existing daily Orlando to Bogota route. The airline has offered service to Colombia since 2009.
