Royal Air Maroc to introduce the new Boeing 787 on the New York route on Sunday

Royal Air Maroc (Casablanca), the national airline of Morocco, marks a milestone with the launch of its first Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner.

The airline continues:

The new, super efficient 274-seat aircraft will depart on its inaugural 6.5-hour flight from Mohammed V International Airport in Casablanca (CMN) to New York’s John F. Kennedy International Airport (JFK) on February 22.

This launch marks the first of two 787-8s that will be dedicated to trans-Atlantic flights between the U.S. and Morocco. Royal Air Maroc’s new planes feature 18 Business Class seats in a 2-2 layout, and 256 Economy Class seats in a 3-3-3 layout.

Vueling adds three new African destinations from Barcelona

Vueling Airlines (Barcelona) will add Rabat (Morocco), Yerba (Tunisia) and Accra (Ghana) from Barcelona starting on June 20.

The airline will also launch a summer service to Istanbul. From June through October the airline will fly three times a week from Barcelona.

After launching flights to Marrakech in 2009, the airline gradually added new African services and now has 16 routes reaching 11 destinations on the continent: Marrakech, Rabat, Casablanca, Nador, and Fez in Morocco; Tunis and Yerba in Tunisia; Algiers and Oran in Algeria; Dakar in Senegal; Banjul in Gambia; and Accra in Ghana. At 3,960 km, the Barcelona-Ghana route will be the longest operated by the airline.

Royal Air Maroc to expand its Embraer 190 fleet

Royal Air Maroc (RAM) (Casablanca), the national carrier of Morocco, has selected the Embraer 190 as part of a fleet upgrade to open new routes and to increase the number of short and medium-haul frequencies from its Casablanca International Airport hub in Morocco. The airline has signed a lease agreement for four E-Jets with Aldus Aviation, the Irish specialist E-Jet lessor. The first leased E190 is expected to be delivered during the second quarter of 2014.

Royal Air Maroc’s E190s will be configured with 96 seats, 12 business class seats and 84 economy class seats, in a dual class layout and will be deployed on European and West African routes from the national carrier’s base of Mohammed V International Airport, Casablanca, Morocco.
