WestJet (Calgary) has announced its largest seasonal expansion adding three additional U.S. destinations (Atlantic City, Miami and San Diego) and eight other international destinations.

United Airlines (Chicago) on September 2 will launch daily nonstop flights from Pittsburgh to both Los Angeles and San Francisco with 120-seat Airbus A319s. UA is replacing US Airways which is dropping both routes on August 18 from its former hub.

FedEx retires its last 3-crew DC-10

FedEx Express (Memphis) on April 6 retired its last unconverted McDonnell Douglas DC-10. DC-10-30F N315FE (msn 48313) was the last to be retired. The company has previously converted and upgraded 51 DC-10s to the two-person cockpit crewed MD-10s with the new glass cockpits.

Austrian Airlines (Vienna) yesterday (March 27) received its first Boeing 767-300 enhanced with Aviation Partners Boeing Blended Winglets. 767-3Z9 ER OE-LAE (msn 30383) arrived at the Vienna base.

American Eagle Airlines (Dallas/Fort Worth) will add additional routes from the DFW hub besides the previously announced service to Santa Fe, NM. ย In addition, the company will add spoke routes to Brownsville, Lake Charles and Montgomery on June 11. Manhattan, KS will come on line on August 25.

First Air to lease a Boeing 767-223 (F) freighter

First Air (Bradley Air Services Limited dba) (Ottawa) has signed a contract with Cargo Aircraft Management (CAM), subsidiary of Air Transport Services Group, for the dry lease of an ex-American Airlines Boeing 767-223 (F) freighter. This is the first wide body for the company. Air Transport Services Group is the holding company for ABX Air, ATI and and Capital Cargo International Airlines.
