AeroMexico (Mexico City) will end its Mexico City – Calgary route on April 8, 2018. The current route is operated daily with Boeing 737-800s per Airline Route.
In other news,ย Gogo has announced AeroMexico will install 2Ku on an additional 9 Boeing 737-800s, bringing the total to 29 aircraft.ย Today, 20 of AeroMexico’s 737-800 aircraft are flying with Gogo’s 2Ku inflight connectivity technology.
The new aircraft are expected to be installed in 2018.

AeroMexico (Mexico City) is retiring its last Boeing 777-200 from the fleet. The Triple Seven fleet has been replaced with newer Boeing 787 Dreamliners.
According to Airline Route, the last revenue flight is currently scheduled for February 26, 2018 between Buenos Aires (Ezeiza) and Mexico City as flight AM 031.
The carrier added the type on March 23, 2006 with N745AM.

Delta and its partner AeroMexico, launched their new nonstop service between Atlanta and Queretaro, Mexico, on November 1.
The Atlanta-Queretaro route will be operated using Embraer 190 aircraft with 99 passenger seats, including 11 in Clase PremierโAeroMexico’s Business Class cabinโwith the following schedules:

In the framework of this celebration, AeroMexico also announced the beginning of its new Monterrey-Atlanta service uniting two of the leading hubs in North America.

AeroMexico, Mexico’s global airline with more than 80 years of history, celebrated the return of the Stinson SR-5A, the first airplane in its fleet. This four-seat airplane with registration number NC14163 operated the carrier’s maiden flight between Mexico City and Acapulco on September 14, 1934.
The first flight was piloted by Julio Zinser, the first commercial pilot in Mexican history. Captain Zinser flew the Stinson SR-5A over Chalco-Cuautla-Iguala-Chilpancingo and landed in the port of Acapulco, Guerrero. The flight lasted 1 hour and 40 minutes and was the first nonstop scheduled flight ever operated by a Mexican airline.
Antonio Diaz Lombardo, Aerovias de Mexico (today AeroMexico) founder, ensured the airline’s rapid growth and expansion over the following decades. By 1955, the airline had 15 aircraft in its fleet and offices in 21 cities across Mexico and in two cities in the United States. In 1957, the airline operated its first international flight on the Mexico City-New York route.
In 2014, AeroMexico learned of the exciting opportunity to bring its first aircraft home and started working on this grand project that took two years to complete. The Mexican Air Force and the Mexican Civil Aviation Authorities worked in strong cooperation with AeroMexico to bring the project to fruition.
On May 27, 2016 the Stinson left Manassas, Virginia on its way home to Mexico City. The trip lasted one week, with 13 stopovers in different airports in the United States and Mexico. Aeromexico is proud to celebrate the return of this 82-year old legend with a documentary directed by Spanish director and screenwriter Miguel Catalan, that tells the airplane’s story starting with its manufacture all the way through its journey back home.
Today, the plane looks just as it did, during its first flight in 1934, thanks to the Aeromexico maintenance team that worked together with the Mexican Air Force painting the plane in the original colors displayed on its inaugural flight. The teams also completed a technical inspection to make sure that the legend could continue flying in Mexico. They checked the engine, fuselage, cockpit, controls, and applied the livery to make sure it looked just like it did on its maiden flight.
From March 1, the Stinson SR-5A will be on display at the Santa Lucia Military Air Force Base Museum in the State of Mexico.
AeroMรฉxico presents the special livery of its first Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner (XA-AML, msn 43859). The aircraft will be named “Quetzalcoatl” (meaning “Feathered Serpent”) after one of the principal deities of pre-Hispanic Mexico.
This is the first time in aviation history in which a design of this type is painted on an aircraft’s livery, offering a unique fusion of tradition and modernity. AeroMรฉxico’s Quetzalcoatl plane left the Boeing Aircraft Paint Hangar after a nine-day processโsix days longer than expectedโas the engineers found that they needed extra time to add all of the original hues and colors featured in the winning design.
In November 2014, AeroMรฉxico announced the “Design is in the Air” contest via social media and at several universities, inviting participants to submit a creative image to be painted on an aircraft’s fuselage. More than 1,000 participants presented their designs during the four-week contest period, 400 of which were chosen for meeting the requirements established in the rules. The winning design was created by graphic designer Josรฉ Manuel Escudero of the Mexican state of Veracruz.
AeroMรฉxico is the second carrier in Latin America to operate the Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner and plans to continue investing until its fleet has ten 787-9 aircraft, with the purpose of providing a better flight experience to customers. If an airline places an order for a 787 today, it could take between 10 to 15 years for it to be delivered. With a fuselage measuring 20 feet wider than the 787-8, the 787-9 will have the capacity for 48 additional passengers on longer routes (up to 300 more nautical miles) with 20% greater fuel efficiency, and up to 20% fewer emissions than the aircraft this model is replacing.
The airline has said that it will wait until the plane lands in Mexico to unveil the interior of this new aircraft that will change its customers’ travel experience.
AeroMexico (Mexico City) hasย announced three weekly nonstop flights between Mexico City (MEX) and Amsterdam (AMS) starting on May 29, 2016, making the city its fourth destination in Europe.
This new route will be operated using Boeing 787 aircraft with 243 seat capacity, including 32 seats in Clase Premier, Aeromexico’s Business Class Cabin.
Flight AM 025 will depart on Wednesdays, Fridays and Sunday from MEX at 11:58 pm (2358) and arrive the next day in AMS at 6 pm (1800). The return flight will depart on Mondays, Thursdays and Saturdays from AMS at 10:35 pm (2235) and arrive the next day at 4:10 am (0410).
One of the key factors in establishing this new route is Amsterdam’s status as a major SkyTeam hub where KLM offers a significant number of flights within Europe. Aeromexico is a founding member of the SkyTeam airline alliance.

AeroMexico (Mexico City) has retired its last Boeing 767. The carrier operated its last revenue flight with Boeing 767-3Y0 ER XA-MAT (msn 24947) as flight AM 29 on September 26, from Buenos Aires to Mexico City. Flight AM 29 arrived at 0720 (7:20 am) at MEX on the morning of September 27.
The last 767 was replaced by a newer Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner.
AM first added the Boeing 767 in 1991.

AeroMexico (Mexico City) has announced the beginning of its new daily AeroMexico Connect service between Mexico City and Cozumel starting on October 1 with Embraer ERJ 145 regional jets.
Cozumel becomes the 46th destination AM serves in Mexico.
