Air Mauritius takes delivery of its first Airbus A350-900

"Le Morne Brabant", the first Air Mauritius A350, delivered on October 20, 2017

Air Mauritius took delivery of its brand new Airbus A350-900 on Friday, October 20, 2017 during a ceremony held at SSR International Airport following the touchdown of the aircraft.

The Chief Guest at the delivery ceremony was the Prime Minister of Mauritius, Honorable Pravind Kumar Jugnauth.

The A350-900 is a latest generation aircraft equipped with state of the art cabin products and marks the start of a fleet modernisation programme that will see 8 new aircraft (6 A350 and 2 A330neo) join the fleet within the next 5 years.

The flight path took the new aircraft over eastern part of the Island where it flew over the Fuel State, the Anjalay Stadium in the North, the Caudan in Port Louis, Cascavelle in the West as well as over Bagatelle before proceeding to Plaisance.

The aircraft will operate its inaugural flight to Singapore and Kuala Lumpur on Monday, October 23, 2017.

Air Mauritius has taken delivery of its first Airbus A350-900 aircraft, opening a new chapter for the Indian Ocean carrier. The aircraft, leased from AerCap, was delivered during a ceremony held in Mauritius.

The Mauritian airline based airline has chosen a very comfortable two class layout with a total of 326 seats comprising 28 in Business Class and 298 in Economy Class.

The A350-900 equipped with Air Mauritiusโ€™ latest cabin products including new seats, an all-new inflight entertainment system and inflight connectivity will offer passengers unparalleled levels of comfort and convenience.

This A350-900 is the first of six to be delivered to Air Mauritius. Four will be purchased directly from Airbus and two leased from AerCap. The carrier will deploy the aircraft on its expanding route network connecting Mauritius with Asia, Africa and Europe.

Air Mauritius already operates a fleet of 10 Airbus aircraft including six A340-300s, two A330-200s and two A319s on its regional and long haul services.

Air Mauritius is getting ready to take delivery of its first Airbus A350-900. The flag carrier is planning to introduce the new type on October 23, 2017 on the Mauritius – Singapore – Kuala Lumpur route according to Airline Route.

A350 service to Johannesburg will be offered on October 27, 2017, London (Heathrow) on November 11, 2017 and Paris (CDG) on December 1, 2017.

Air Mauritius to lease two Airbus A330-900neo aircraft from ALC

Air Lease Corporation (AL) announced long term lease agreements with Air Mauritius for two new Airbus A330-900neo aircraft, outfitted with latest-generation Rolls-Royce Trent 7000 engines. The aircraft are from ALCโ€™s order book with Airbus and are scheduled to deliver in September and October 2018.

Air Mauritius signs a MOU for four Airbus A350-900s, will lease two more

Air Mauritius (Port Louis, Mauritius), the flag carrier of Mauritius has decided to expand and modernize its long-haul fleet with a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) for four Airbus A350-900 aircraft. The agreement was announced during the Farnborough International Airshow 2014. The airline has also announced that it is leasing two more A350-900s. The 6 A350 XWB will be operated on European, Asian and Australian routes.

Air Mauritius currently operates ten Airbus aircraft including two A330-200s and two A319s.

The A350 XWB is Airbusโ€™ all-new mid-size long-range product line comprising three versions offering from 276 to 369 seats.

Air Mauritius has a profitable year, reversing two years of losses

Air Mauritius (Port Louis, Mauritius) posted a net profit of โ‚ฌ7.3 million ($9.9 million) for its fiscal financial year ending on March 31, 2014.

These positive results marked the return to profit of the national airline over a full financial year after two consecutive loss making years.

Air Mauritius has benefitted from its transformation program named “7 Step Plan” which was launched in February 2012. This program, which is on-going, encompasses four “Recovery Steps” and three “Game Changers”. The former relate to our network and fleet, commercial and revenue management, cash improvement and asset rationalization. According to the carrier, “The Game Changers aim at ensuring long term sustainability and involve re-fleeting, improving quality of service and harnessing our human capital.”

“Re-balancing growth to emerging markets was further strengthened during financial year 2012-13. Air Mauritius has rationalized its network and now offers more choice and flexibility to its passengers by serving hubs while flying directly to 20 destinations in Europe, Asia, Africa, Australia and the South West Indian Ocean region. We have also reinforced our gateways to Africa, Asia and Australia while concentrating our network around hubs in Paris, Kuala Lumpur, Johannesburg, Nairobi and Perth with enhanced agreements with airline partners.”

Air Mauritius’ stock slumps after reporting a $37 million fiscal year loss

Air Mauritius (Port Louis, Mauritius) reported a $37 million loss for its fiscal year ending on March 31. The flag carrier had previously announced a plan to return to return to profitability.

Air Mauritius due to mounting losses will reduce its nonstop route map

Air Mauritius (Port Louis) announced it lost $4.19 million in the third quarter and $27.3 million in the first nine months of its fiscal year.

Due to these mounting losses, rising fuel costs and increased competition, the company has also announced it will drop nonstop service to Frankfurt, Geneva, Milan and Munich in Europe in October 2012 as well as Bangalore (October 2012), Durban (October 2012) and Melbourne (May 2012).

In Europe, in partnership with Air France, the company will consolidate its operations at Paris (CDG) for onward flights to these European destinations.

Bangalore will be served via Mumbai, Durban via Johannesburg and Melbourne and Sydney via Perth.
