Boeing (Chicago and Seattle) has started production of the first 737 MAX fuselage stringers at Boeing Fabrication Integrated AeroStructures in Auburn, Washington. Stringers run the length of the fuselage structure giving it stability and strength.
After forming, Boeing will send the stringers to Spirit Aerosystems in Wichita, Kansas for incorporation into the first 737 MAX fuselage. From there the fuselage will be shipped to Boeing’s Renton, Washington facility where Boeing employees will build the 737 MAX. The program is on track to begin final assembly of the first 737 MAX in 2015. The airplane will be part of the flight test fleet and is scheduled to fly in 2016.
The 737 MAX incorporates the latest technology CFM International LEAP-1B engines, Advanced Technology winglets and other improvements to deliver the highest efficiency, reliability and passenger comfort in the single-aisle market. The 737 MAX will be 14 percent more fuel-efficient than today’s most efficient Next-Generation 737s โ and 20 percent better than the original Next-Generation 737s when they first entered service.
Ethiopian Airlines (Addis Ababa) and Boeing (Chicago and Seattle) have announced an order for 20 737 MAX 8s. The order, previously unidentified on the Boeing Orders and Deliveries website, is worth more than $2.1 billion at list prices and also includes options and purchase rights for a further 15 737 MAX 8s. The order represents the largest single Boeing order by number of airplanes from an African carrier.
The 737 MAX incorporates the latest technology CFM International LEAP-1B engines, Advanced Technology winglets and other improvements to deliver the highest efficiency, reliability and passenger comfort in the single-aisle market. The 737 MAX will be 14 percent more fuel-efficient than today’s most efficient Next-Generation 737s โ and 20 percent better than the original Next-Generation 737s when they first entered service. The 737 MAX has a total of 2,294 orders from 47 customers worldwide.
Ethiopian currently serves more than 83 destinations across five continents from its base at Bole International Airport in the Ethiopian capital, Addis Ababa. The Ethiopian flag carrier’s partnership with Boeing has existed for more than half a century, with a current fleet of more than 50 Boeing airplanes that includes Next-Generation 737s, 757s, 767s, 777s, 787 Dreamliners and a cargo fleet of 757s, 777 Freighters and MD-11s.
Boeing (Chicago and Seattle) celebrated a milestone achievement today (May 20) on the 737 MAX program, surpassing the 2000th order for the super-efficient single-aisle airplane. With the addition of 30 orders from unidentified customers this week, the 737 MAX now has a total of 2,010 orders from 39 customers worldwide, valued at $209 billion at list prices. The 737 MAX also has commitments for more than 250 additional airplanes.
The 737 MAX has reached 2,000 orders faster than any other Boeing airplane in history. This unprecedented demand is fueled by air traffic growth and the need for more fuel-efficient airplanes.
According to Boeing, “the 737 MAX will be 14 percent more fuel-efficient than today’s most efficient Next-Generation 737s โ and 20 percent better than the original Next-Generation 737s when they first entered service. The 737 is more fuel efficient than the A320 today and will be more fuel efficient than the A320neo tomorrow. Airlines operating the 737 MAX will see an 8 percent operating cost per seat advantage over the A320neo”.
On track to begin final assembly in mid-2015, the 737 MAX will fly in 2016 and will be delivered to launch customer Southwest Airlines in the third quarter of 2017.
Eastern Air Lines Group, Inc. (2nd) (Miami) has signed an initial order and placed deposits with the Boeing Company for ten (10) firm Next Generation 737-800 aircraft and purchase rights for ten (10) Boeing MAX 8 aircraft.
“Eastern is extremely honored and privileged to be in business with Boeing once again. Eastern’s strong relationยญship with Boeing dates back to the 1930’s, and later Eastern was the first airline to order and operate both the Boeing 727 and 757 aircraft. We will now proudly have the Boeing 737 Next Generation, and eventually the MAX aircraft, as our fleet standard,” said Edward J. Wegel, Eastern’s President and CEO.
9 Air (Guangzhou) is Chinaโs newest low-cost airline and is also a subsidiary of Juneyao Airlines (Shanghai). 9 Air is poised to become another all-Boeing operator in China with plans to finalize an order with Boeing for 50 Boeing 737s including the new 737 MAX. The new low-cost carrier plans to launch domestic services to meet growing air traffic demand in China later this year.

The order will be posted as such to Boeing’s Orders & Deliveries website once all contingencies are cleared.
This is a victory for Boeing as the parent, Juneyao Airlines, is a loyal Airbus A320 operator.
Boeing (Chicago and Seattle) and Air Canada (Montreal) have finalized an order for 61 737 MAX airplanes to lead the airline’s single-aisle fleet renewal plan. The order, valued at $6.5 billion at list prices, consists of 33 737 MAX 8s and 28 737 MAX 9s, as well as 18 options and 30 rights to purchase additional 737 MAXs.
The 737 MAX improves fuel efficiency and reduces carbon emissions by 14 percent, while reducing the operational noise footprint by 40 percent, compared to today’s aircraft.
The 737 MAX incorporates the latest technology LEAP-1B engines from CFM International with other advancements including Advanced Technology winglets, large flight deck displays and the Boeing Sky Interior to deliver the highest efficiency, reliability and passenger comfort in the single-aisle market.
The 737 MAX has accumulated more than 1,900 orders to date from 37 customers worldwide.
Development of the 737 MAX is on schedule with firm configuration of the airplane completed in July 2013. First flight is scheduled in 2016 with deliveries to customers beginning in third quarter of 2017.
SpiceJet (Delhi) and Boeing (Chicago and Seattle) have announced at the India Aviation 2014 show an order for 42 737 MAX 8s. The order, previously listed as unidentified on theย Boeing Orders & Deliveriesย website, is valued atย $4.4 billionย at list prices.

Already a market success, the 737 MAX has accumulated more than 1,800 orders to date and will have 8 percent lower per-seat operating costs than the future competition.
With this announcement, SpiceJet has ordered 90 airplanes directly from Boeing, which includes the 737-800, 737-900 ER and now the 737 MAX. To date, SpiceJet has taken delivery of 31 of the airplanes.

Flydubai (Dubai) and Boeing (Chicago) announced an order for 75 737 MAX 8s and 11 Next-Generation 737-800s, valued atย $8.8 billionย at list prices. In addition, the airline retains purchase rights for 25 more 737 MAXs.
The order was first announced as a commitment at the 2013 Dubai Airshow, making it Boeing’s largest single-aisle airplane order in the Middle East.

Flydubai placed its first order for 50 Next-Generation 737-800s at the 2008 Farnborough Air Show and took delivery of its first airplane in 2009. The airline was the first in the world to debut the Boeing Sky Interior, an enhanced onboard experience. To date, flydubai has grown its fleet to 34 Next-Generation 737-800s.

Flydubai (Dubai) and Boeing (Chicago) today announced a commitment for up to 100 737 MAX 8 airplanes and 11 Next-Generation 737-800s on the opening day of the Dubai Airshow.
The commitment from the airline of the emirate ofย Dubai, valued atย $11.4 billionย at list prices (including orders and purchase rights), is the largest ever Boeing single-aisle airplane purchase in theย Middle East. The investment continues Flydubai’s legacy operating an all-Boeing 737 fleet.
The 737 MAX will build on the Next-Generation 737’s popularity and reliability while delivering customers unsurpassed fuel efficiency in the single-aisle market. The 737 MAX 8 is expected to be 8 percent per-seat more fuel efficient than the future competition.

Flydubai placed its first order for 50 Next-Generation 737-800s in 2008. The airline took delivery of its first airplane in 2009 and was the first airline in the world to debut the Boeing Sky Interior, an enhanced onboard experience. To date, flydubai has taken delivery of 33 Next-Generation 737-800s.
In the past two years, Flydubai has more than doubled the number of destinations it flies to and has around 1,200 weekly flights. flydubai carried 5.1 million passengers in 2012 and has become the second largest carrier, by passenger numbers, operating out of Dubai International.
In only four and a half years flydubai has, in this short time, built up a network of more than 65 destinations, served by a fleet of 33 Boeing 737-800 aircraft. The remaining aircraft from its 2008 order will be fulfilled by 2015. It achieved profitability in its third year of operation.ย It continues to focus on the needs of its passengers most recently launching Business Class services. It made this service available, for the first time, on several of the 46 previously underserved destinations it flies to.
The first aircraft, Next-Generation Boeing 737-800s from this order, will be delivered between 2016 and 2017.ย Deliveries of the first Boeing 737 MAX will commence in the second half of 2017 and continue until the end of 2023.ย As one of the most reliable and efficient single-aisle aircraft models of its type currently available today it will support Flydubaiโs continued growth.

Boeing (Chicago) and Air Lease Corporation (Los Angeles) announced today a firmย order for 60 737 MAX 8 and 15 737 MAX 9 airplanes, with reconfirmation rights for 25 additional 737 MAXs. The order, with a list-price value of $7.2 billion, represents the first 737 MAX order by a leasing company.
The 737 MAX is a new-engine variant of the world’s best selling airplane and builds on the strengths of today’s Next-Generation 737. The 737 MAX incorporates the latest-technology CFM International LEAP-1B engines to deliver the highest efficiency, reliability and passenger comfort in the single-aisle market.
Airlines operating the 737 MAX will see a 13 percent fuel burn improvement over today’s most fuel efficient single-aisle airplanes and an eight percent operating cost per seat advantage over tomorrow’s competition.
ALC has ordered a total of 170 airplanes from Boeing including 75 737 MAX, 78 Next-Generation 737-800s, five 777-300ERs (Extended Range) and 12 787-9 Dreamliners.
