Lufthansa to add Frankfurt – Luxembourg flights

Lufthansa (Frankfurt) will launch daily Lufthansa Regional Bombardier CRJ900 service on the Frankfurt (FRA) – Luxembourg (LUX) route on October 25. The airline currently operates to LUX from Munich.

Delta to end the Salt Lake City – Chicago Midway route, PRASM declined 3% in July

Delta Air Lines (Atlanta) will end the Salt Lake City – Chicago (Midway) route on August 31. The daily Delta Connection route is currently operated with Bombardier CRJ900 jets per Airline Route.

In other news, Delta today reported “consolidated passenger unit revenue (PRASM) for the month of July decreased 3.0 percent year over year, with pressure from foreign exchange, lower surcharges in international markets, and continued yield pressure in select domestic markets.”

Delta to add Milwaukee – Boston flights

Delta Air Lines (Atlanta) is planning to add Delta Connection Bombardier CRJ900 service on the Milwaukee – Boston route starting on June 4 according to Airline Route.

American selects PSA Airlines to operate 24 additional Bombardier CRJ900 aircraft

PSA Airlines (2nd) (Dayton) has been selected by American Airlines (Dallas/Fort Worth) to operate 24 new Bombardier CRJ900 NextGen aircraft. This aircraft assignment to PSA follows American exercising 24 of its 40 CRJ900 NextGen aircraft options. The options were originally acquired as part of American’s large regional jet order announced in December 2013.

PSA will induct the 24 additional CRJ900 NextGen aircraft beginning in November 2015, with all aircraft being received by August 2016. These modern and fuel-efficient aircraft will be operated under the American Eagle brand and will provide American’s customers with a seamless transition between mainline and regional flights. The CRJ900 NextGen aircraft offers modern cabin elements including oversized overhead bins, all-leather seating and inflight Wi-Fi. The 76-seat jet features a two-class configuration with 12 First Class, 36 Main Cabin Extra and 28 Main Cabin seats, allowing American to offer an unsurpassed regional customer experience in its most competitive markets.

During this time the carrier, which is a wholly owned subsidiary of American Airlines Group operating an all Bombardier fleet, has announced the addition of these 24 CRJ900 NextGen aircraft, 30 previously announced CRJ900s NextGen aircraft and 47 CRJ700s. PSA’s fleet growth has resulted in more than 700 newly hired employees in the past year and a multitude of career and advancement opportunities for every workgroup. PSA’s pilot training program is recognized as one of the industry’s best, preparing crew members for a career with a rapidly expanding fleet of state-of-the-art regional jets. The company’s 1,900 employees currently operate nearly 400 daily flights to more than 80 destinations.

PSA has flight crew bases located in Dayton, Knoxville, Tennessee, and Charlotte, North Carolina, and maintains maintenance facilities in Dayton and Akron/Canton, Ohio, as well Charlotte.

Mesa Airlines orders seven more Bombardier CRJ900 aircraft

Mesa Airlines, Inc. (Phoenix) has announced it has reached an agreement in principle, subject to definitive documentation, with Montreal-based Bombardier Inc. for the purchase of seven new CRJ900 NextGen aircraft to operate under a long-term capacity purchase agreement with a major U.S. airline. The aircraft will be purchased new from Bombardier and will bring the total number of CRJ900 aircraft operated by the Company to 64. The Company expects delivery of the seven additional aircraft in 2015. The agreement also includes an undisclosed number of options to purchase additional CRJ900 aircraft.

American Airlines is expanding the agreement with Mesa for these seven new CRJ900s. All 64 CRJ900s will eventually be operated under the American Eagle brand.

Mesa currently operates its CRJ900s as an American Eagle and US Airways Express carrier.

Mesa was the launch customer for the CRJ900 aircraft in 2001 and is one of the largest operators of CRJ900 aircraft in the world.

The addition of these seven aircraft and 11 new E-175s scheduled for delivery later this year will bring Mesa’s fleet total to 115 aircraft by October of 2015.

SAS to complete the acquisition of Cimber on March 1, will transfer the CRJ900s

Scandinavian Airlines-SAS (Stockholm) has announced it has received approval from the Danish Competition and Consumer Authority to finish the acquisition of Cimber (Sonderborg). SAS will complete the acquisition and will transfer its 12 Bombardier CRJ900s to Cimber. The airline issued this statement:

SAS is completing the acquisition of Cimber after meeting all of the terms of the transaction, including approval from the Danish Competition and Consumer Authority. SAS has appointed Kent Hansen as the new president of the airline. He will succeed the current president on March 1, 2015.

On December 8, 2014, SAS announced that it had agreed to acquire 100% of the shares in Cimber, that the value of the transaction was MDKK 20 and that the transaction was subject to customary terms including receiving approval from the Danish competition authority.

The Danish Competition and Consumer Authority has notified its approval of SAS’s acquisition of Cimber. In parallel, the remaining terms of the agreement have been met and, accordingly, SAS’s acquisition of Cimber can now be completed.

As previously announced, the acquisition means an opportunity for SAS to transfer production by its 12 Bombardier CRJ900s to Cimber, thereby, allowing more focused and flexible production to be achieved.

The transfer is planned to be completed on March 1, 2015.

China Express Airlines orders 16 additional Bombardier CRJ900s

China Express Airlines (Guiyang, Guizhou) is the previously announced unidentified customer that had placed a firm order for 16 Bombardier CRJ900 NextGen regional jets and had taken options for eight additional airliners of the same type. This purchase agreement was initially announced on June 30, 2014.

The announcement was made today (November 8) in Beijing, in the presence of His Excellency Li Keqiang, Premier, People’s Republic of China; The Right Honourable Stephen Harper, Prime Minister of Canada; Hu Xiaojun, Chairman, China Express; Wu Longjiang, President, China Express; Pierre Beaudoin, President and Chief Executive Officer, Bombardier Inc.; and Jianwei Zhang, President, Bombardier China.

Adria Airways to add new routes to Berlin, Brussels, Paris and Stockholm

Adria Airways (Ljubljana) plans to introduce two new routes from Ljubljana – to Stockholm and Berlin – and two new routes from Tirana – to Brussels and Paris.

Adria will fly twice a week to the Swedish capital, on Tuesdays and Thursdays. The first flight to Stockholm is scheduled for April 23, 2015. The first flight to Berlin, where Adria will fly on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays, will be on April 24, 2015.

During the summer season Adria will again operate two flights a week to London, beginning on May 16, 2015, and to Manchester, from May 30, 2015 onwards.

Flights between Tirana and Brussels and Tirana and Paris will begin on March 31, 2015. Adria will connect Tirana to the Belgian and French capitals twice a week, on Tuesdays and Saturdays.

American Airlines to introduce Bombardier CRJ900 to the DFW hub on November 6

American Airlines (Dallas/Fort Worth) will introduce the Bombardier CRJ900 to the Dallas/Fort Worth hub starting on November 6. Mesa Airlines (Phoenix) will operate the type initially on American Eagle services to Albuquerque, El Paso, Fayetteville and Greenville/Spartanburg per Airline Route. On November 16 this operation will expand with a Huntsville, AL route. Colorado Springs, Little Rock, Louisville, Lubbock, Oklahoma City and Wichita will be added from DFW on December 2. Finally Montrose, CO will be added on December 18.

In May 2014 Mesa Airlines announced they had reached an agreement with American Airlines to operate six more CRJ900s for American bringing the total CRJ900s to 51 aircraft.

In other news, American is also introducing the Embraer ERJ 175 on additional routes. Effective November 6 the Embraer 175 will be operated from the Chicago (O’Hare) hub to Columbus, OH. On the same date from the Miami hub, the E175 will operate to Louisville, Nashville, New Orleans and Pittsburgh. From New York (JFK) the E175 will be assigned to the Pittsburgh route also starting on November 6.

Finally on December 18, the Embraer 175 will be added on additional routes from the Miami hub to Cleveland, Key West and Nassau.

US Airways to launch two new routes to Canada from Los Angeles

US Airways (Phoenix and Dallas/Fort Worth) will launch two new routes from Los Angeles to Canada on October 2. The carrier will start US Airways Express Bombardier CRJ900 daily service to both Edmonton and Vancouver according to Airline Route.
