Porter Airlines orders four more Q400s

Porter Airlines (Toronto-Billy Bishop Toronto City Airport) has confirmed a new order for four 70-seat Bombardier DHC-8-402 (Q400) turboprops, plus six options.

Porter currently operates a fleet of 20 Q400 aircraft and the new order potentially raises this number to 30.

The new aircraft are scheduled for delivery beginning in the second quarter of 2011, through the third quarter of 2012, including option aircraft.

Porter also confirmed it has raised an additional C$15 million in equity from existing shareholders. The proceeds will be used primarily for working capital and new aircraft purchases.

Frontier Airlines to end Aspen service on September 30 as Lynx Aviation is phased out

Frontier Airlines (2nd) (Denver) will end service to the mountain ski resort destination of Aspen on September 30, 2010. This is also the last day of operations for Lynx Aviation and the Bombardier DHC-8-402s (Q400s). Frontier has elected to not use Republic Airlines’ (2nd) Embraer ERJ 170s or ERJ 190s into ASE.

Delta Air Lines will also not return to Aspen this coming winter season, leaving only United with the United Express service.

QANTAS orders seven additional Bombardier Q400s

QANTAS Airways (Sydney) has placed a firm order for seven additional Bombardier DHC-8-402 (Q400) NextGen turboprop airliners. The aircraft will be operated by QANTASโ€™ regional carriers operating under the QANTAS Link banner.

This order will increase to 28 the number of Q400 and Q400 NextGen airliners operated by Sunstate Airlines (QANTAS Link). The group also operates two Bombardier DHC 8-200, three DHC-8-200 (Q200) and 16 DHC-8-300 (Q300) aircraft.

Air Niugini adds its first Bombardier Q400, introduces a new livery

Heli Malongo takes delivery of its first Bombardier Q400

Heli Malongo (Luanda) on June 20 took delivery of its first new Bombardier DHC-8-402 (Q400) registered D2-EUO (msn 4312). The company also operates three Bombardier DHC-8-300 turboprops.

ANA orders five Bombardier Q400 turboprops

Bombardier Aerospace (Toronto) has confirmed that a firm order for five Q400 NextGen aircraft and options for another five, which was previously announced on August 3, 2009, was placed by All Nippon Airways Co. Ltd (ANA) (Tokyo).

Jazz Air finalizes order for 15 Bombardier Q400s

Jazz Air (Air Canada Jazz) (Halifax) has finalized its order forย 15 Bombardier (Toronto) DHC-8-402 (Q400) turboprop airliners. Deliveries will start in May 2011. Jazz Air said it also took options for another 15 of the 74 seat, single-class cabin Q400 NextGen planes. Image: Bombardier.

Porter Airlines takes delivery of its 20th Bombardier DHC-8-402 (Q400)

Porter Airlines (Toronto-City Centre) on April 22 marked the acceptance of its 20th Bombardier Aerospace DHC-8-402 (Q400). This delivery is also the 300th for the Q400 program. Both milestones were celebrated at Bombardier’s Toronto assembly facility with Porter representatives, Bombardier employees and other guests.

Acceptance of this delivery represents the completion of Porter’s original order from 2006, valued at more than $500 million USD.

Porter operates a fleet of 70-seat Q400 aircraft. Features include high cruise speed, revolutionary cabin noise-reduction technology and environmentally-friendly engines. The modern Q Series are the quietest turboprops flying today, due to the revolutionary Noise and Vibration Suppression (NVS) System.

The 20th aircraft is scheduled to enter regular passenger service May 1.
