American Airlines to add 8 new routes

American Airlines (Dallas/Fort Worth) is adding winter seasonal flights from its hubs.

From Charlotte, the company will add weekly Airbus A319 service to both Curacao, Netherlands Antilles and Puerto Plata, Dominican Republic starting on December 19 per Airline Route.

From Chicago (O’Hare), the airline will add weekly Boeing 737-800 service also to Punta Cana also starting on December 19.

From Dallas/Fort Worth, AA will add weekly Airbus A319 flights to Punta Cana.

Finally from Los Angeles, American will add twice-weekly Boeing 737-800 service to Montego Bay, Jamaica on December 18.

Adding to this, American on July 13 issued this statement:

American Airlines plans to add eight new routes throughout Mexico, the Caribbean and Latin America later this year, further strengthening its position in these key regions and providing customers with increased options when traveling to these destinations.

Expanded service includes new flights to Mexico City International Airport (MEX); General Rafael Buelna International Airport (MZT) in Mazatlan, Mexico; Curacao International Airport (CUR); Sangster International Airport (MBJ) in Montego Bay, Jamaica; Punta Cana International Airport (PUJ); Gregorio Luperon International Airport (POP) in Puerto Plata, Dominican Republic; and Mariscal Sucre International Airport (UIO) in Quito, Ecuador, pending regulatory approvals.

American also plans to reinstate its service between New York’s John F. Kennedy Airport (JFK) and Simon Bolívar International Airport (CCS) in Caracas, Venezuela, on December 17. Flights will operate five times per week with Boeing 757-200 aircraft.

Air Canada to operate weekly Montreal-Curacao Airbus A319 flights

Air Canada (Montreal) will start weekly Airbus A319 mainline service between Montreal (Trudeau) and Curacao starting on January 1, 2015 per Airline Route.

Air Canada:

JetBlue to launch a nonstop New York JFK-Curacao route on December 2

JetBlue Airways (New York) will launch a new route to Curaçao International Airport (CUR) from JFK International Airport (JFK) on December 2, 2014, providing the only nonstop service from New York. The twice weekly service will operate on Tuesdays and Saturdays.

Curaçao, which is part of the ABC islands that also includes Aruba and Bonaire, is considered a hidden gem amongst all Caribbean island destinations, renowned for its diving, beaches and unique architecture. The historic island is already a popular destination for European travelers and its capital, Willemsted, is a UNESCO World Heritage City.

JetBlue’s flights to Curaçao will be operated on a 150-seat Airbus A320.

Insel Air International (Curacao) acquired this ex-Alitalia (1st) McDonnell Douglas DC-9-82 (MD-82) now registered N431LF (msn 49194, ex I-DAWI). It was ferried to Curacao on October 19, 2009 and will be used for spare parts. The crew took the opportunity to apply some interesting hand-drawn titles such as “Scrapheap”, “Curacao or Bust” and the larger “Out of Africa”.
