Delta to start Los Angeles – Denver flights

Delta Air Lines (Atlanta) will launch five daily flights from Los Angeles International Airport to Denver International Airport beginning June 1, 2016.

In 2016, Delta will begin operating Boeing 717 aircraft on all Delta Shuttle flights between Los Angeles and San Francisco, increase to 10 daily flights to both New York-JFK and Seattle/Tacoma and add a third daily flight to Boston. Delta’s seat growth in Los Angeles has grown more than 99 percent since 2009, the most of any carrier.

Delta’s Los Angeles to Denver flights will be operated by Delta Connection carrier SkyWest Airlines (St. George) using two-class, 76-seat Bombardier CRJ900 aircraft.

Delta operates 160 peak-day departures to 60 destinations from Los Angeles.

Denver Air Connection to connect Denver with Sheridan, Wyoming

Key Lime Air dba Denver Air Connection (Denver) has announced the introduction of nonstop service between Denver, Colorado and Sheridan, Wyoming. The service is scheduled to begin effective November 19, 2015, and will represent the return of commercial airline service to Sheridan.

The flights are being launched in conjunction with CAST, the Critical Air Service Team, a community wide stakeholders group from Sheridan. CAST includes senior members of the local community whose primary goal has been supporting air service in the region.

Service on Denver Air Connection will operate twice-daily with a Dornier 328JET. The Dornier 328JET is comfortably configured for 30 seats and operates with two pilots and a flight attendant. The service will operate from Sheridan into Denver International Airport, facilitating connections to points worldwide.

United to add seasonal flights to Costa Rica and the Turks and Caicos Islands

United Airlines (Chicago) is adding three seasonal routes from both Chicago (O’Hare) and Denver. The carrier will launched weekly Chicago (O’Hare) – Providenciales (Provo) service with Boeing 737-800s starting on December 19 per Airline Route.

Additionally from Denver its is also starting weekly flights to San Jose and Liberia in Costa Rica.

United Airlines offers free miles to hackers to hack their websites, will lease 11 Airbus A319s, adds new domestic routes

United Airlines (Chicago) according to Fortune, “is now offering free frequent flier miles to would-be hackers who can crack the airline’s various websites and mobile apps as part of a bug bounty program”.

Additionally, according to Reuters, United will lease 11 used Airbus A319s from AerCap Holdings NV over the next two years in order to reduce the number of 50-seat regional jets operated. The airline also has the right to lease 14 additional A319s over the next five years.

In other news, United will also offer two new twice-daily United Express Embraer 175 flights from Denver to both Charlotte and Raleigh/Durham starting on September 13 per Airline Route.

In addition, United will start summer seasonal twice-weekly United Express Bombardier CRJ700 service from Denver to Coos Bay/North Bend, Oregon (Southwest Oregon Regional Airport) starting on July 1.

Finally, the Boeing 767-300s of United still are in demand by passengers. According to The Street, the 30 remodeled 767-300s are the second most favored wide-body aircraft (after the new Boeing 787) in the UA fleet according to passengers after-flight surveys.

Southwest Airlines applies for Denver-Puerto Vallarta rights

Southwest Airlines (Dallas) hasย filed an application with the U.S. Department of Transportation (DOT) to provide daily, nonstop service between Denver International Airport (DEN) and Lic. Gustavo Diaz Ordaz International Airport (PVR) in Puerto Vallarta, Mexico, beginning in November 2015, subject to approvals from relevant governmental agencies.

Southwest will initiate service to Puerto Vallarta, the carrier’s fourth destination in Mexico, on June 7, 2015, with a daily flight both to and from John Wayne Airport Orange County (SNA).

Southwest Airlines began service to Denver on Janury 3, 2006, with 13 daily nonstop departures to three destinations. Southwest now carries more local Customers than any other airline in Denver and operates 185 flights a day to 58 destinations nonstop from Denver, including international service to San Jose del Cabo/Los Cabos and Cancun, Mexico.

US Airways flight 445 makes an emergency landing in Denver with smoke in the cabin

US Airways (Phoenix) flight US (AWE) 445 from Charlotte to Denver made a safe emergency landing at Denver International Airport yesterday (March 4) after smoke reportedly filled the cabin. Passengers safely evacuated the pictured Airbus A321-211 registered as N188US (msn 1724) (now painted in American Airlines colors). The 158 passengers and six crew members used the emergency chutes to safely evacuate the aircraft.

American Airlines issued this statement:

American Airlines confirms that US Airways Flight 445, from Charlotte Douglas International Airport to Denver International Airport was involved in an incident at Denver this afternoon. While taxiing to the gate, the pilot was alerted to possible smoke in the cabin. The passengers and crew deplaned via the slides and are all in the terminal.

We are in contact with the National Transportation Safety Board and the Federal Aviation Administration.

The Airbus A321 had 158 passengers and six crewmembers.

Frontier to add Orlando-Las Vegas and Denver-Raleigh/Durham flights

Frontier Airlines (2nd) (Denver) will add seasonal flights between the two top vacation destinations of Orlando and Las Vegas. The new route will start on April 30.

The low fare carrier is also adding nonstop between Denver and Raleigh/Durham starting on June 11.

Frontier is also adding two new routes from Philadelphia to both Minneapolis/St. Paul and Houston (Bush Intercontinental) starting on April 30.

The airline is also adding new services from Chicago (O’Hare) to Austin and Los Angeles on April 14, and Raleigh/Durham and San Francisco starting on April 30.

United Airlines considers a replacement order for 10 Boeing 777-300s, will drop service to Regina and Saskatoon from Denver

United Airlines (Chicago) is considering an order for 10 Boeing 777-300 ERs according to Bloomberg. Quoting an United representative, the stretched Triple Sevens would possibly replace other aircraft ย United has on order (i.e. 787s). Boeing needs to keep the 777-300 production line going until the new 777X version is ready for production.

In other news, United is dropping its routes from its Denver hub to Saskatchewan. The carrier will drop service to both Regina and Saskatoon on February 28.

United Airlines adds 55 flights on 8 routes for the Super Bowl

United Airlines (Chicago) added more flights for football fans on top of regularly scheduled service to Phoenix from its hubs in Chicago (O’Hare), Denver, Houston (Bush Intercontinental), Los Angeles, Newark and San Francisco. The airline also added special new nonstop service, operating from January 29 to February 2, from Boston and Seattle/Tacoma to Phoenix for the Super Bowl. Several of the flights will be operated with Boeing 767 aircraft to accommodate the extra demand.

Frontier Airlines to outsource 1,160 airport jobs at Denver International Airport, cuts back routes at Trenton

Frontier Airlines (2nd) (Denver), under its new ownership group, is slashing 1,160 Denver jobs according to the Denver Post. The company informed its Denver employees yesterday it is outsourcing all ramp, baggage, gate and ticket counter positions at Denver International Airport according to the report. Contractor Swissport will take over the positions in March. Denver was the last Frontier station that serviced its flights with its own in-house employees.

In other news, Frontier Airlines discontinued service from Trenton (Mercer County) to Nashville, St. Louis, Indianapolis, Milwaukee and Cleveland on January 6 due to low demand.
