Singapore Airlines (Singapore) will add Munich on March 28, 2010. The new route will be operated with Boeing 777-300 ERs five times a week.

British Airways continues to promote its “Face to Face” program

British Airways (London) is promoting the importance of “face to face” meetings rather than electronic communications. It recently added “Face to Face” sub-titles to its Boeing 747-436 G-BNLO (msn 24057).

United Airlines (Chicago) as previously reported, retired the last Boeing 737 on Wednesday evening (October 28). Despite a snowstorm in Denver, Boeing 737-322 N331UA (msn 24192) arrived at the San Francisco base ironically just as the sun was setting. The airport gave the traditional water cannon salute on landing ending an long era.

British adds “Face to Face” titles to G-BNLO

British Airways (London) has added additional “Face to Face” sub-titles by the nose of Boeing 747-436 G-BNLO (msn 24057) in support of the special program.

Virgin America and Google to offer free WiFi

Virgin America (San Francisco) is teaming up with Google to offer free in-flight WiFi services on all flights between November 10, 2009 and January 15, 2010.

WestJet to fly to Hawaii from Calgary/Edmonton

WestJet Airlines (Calgary) will fly from both Calgary and Edmonton to Hawaii for a short period in the spring. The company will fly once a week from Calgary to both Honolulu (March 7 through April 25, 2010) and Kahului (Maui) (March 6 through May 1) and also from Edmonton to Kahului (March 5 through April 30).

Southwest repaints 737 N629SW “Silver One”

Southwest Airlines (Dallas) has repainted its Boeing 737-3H4 N629SW (msn 27704) known as “Silver One” into the current 2001 colors. N629SW originally was introduced in a metal top scheme in June 1996 celebrating its 25th Anniversary (Silver Anniversary). In 1999 the metal top was replaced with gray paint.

Southwest Airlines’ (Dallas) flight WN 2294 operating last evening (July 13) with Boeing 737-3H4 N387SW (msn 26602) between Nashville and Baltimore/Washington (BWI) was forced to make an emergency landing at Charleston, WV after a one foot by one foot wide hole was discovered in the rear fuselage top (passengers could see the sky)! WN is inspecting its entire 737-300 fleet.

Alaska Airlines (Seattle/Tacoma) has started adding “WiFi Inflight” stickers.

In other news, the company will operate again to Bethel, Kotzebue and Nome depending on the ash conditions from Mount Redoubt on a day by day basis. Aircraft resting overnight at Anchorage are being wrapped in a protective plastic sealant.
