Boeing selects Charleston, SC as second 787 plant

Boeing (Chicago, Seattle, Wichita and Charleston, SC) today announced its newly acquired facility at Charleston, South Carolina has been selected as the the second assembly plant for the 787 Dreamliner. The facility is non-union.

Jetstar Airbus A320 evacuated due to a fire

Jetstar Airways’ (Melbourne) Airbus A320 was evacuated due to a brief engine fire on Tuesday (October 27) after the Brisbane-Newcastle flight had landed.

Jet Airways loses $87 million in second quarter

Jet Airways (Mumbai) lost $87 million in the second quarter, its largest quarterly loss in four years. The loss was due mainly to the recent pilots strike.

Seawings (Dubai) launched Cessna Caravan seaplane sightseeing flights from Dubai Creek on October 1, 2009.

Armavia adds Bahrain, SuperJet 100 delayed

Armavia (Yerevan) added Bahrain as a new destination on October 26, 2009.

Meanwhile in other news, the delivery of the first SuperJet 100 has been delayed by “several months” according to published reports.

British Airways (London) is meeting with its unions concerning possible job actions as it moves towards more job cuts.

Wayward pilots’ licenses revoked

Federal Aviation Administration-FAA (Washington) has revoked the pilot licenses of the two Northwest Airlines pilots who overflew their destination. The FAA used strong language in condemning the actions of the two pilots. The FAA stated they operated the aircraft in a “wreckless manner” and a “total dereliction” of their duties. The pilots can appeal the decision.
