AirAsia X signs a MOU for 50 Airbus A330-900neo aircraft

AirAsia X A330-900 (09)(Flt)(Airbus)(LRW)

AirAsia X (AirAsia.com) (Kuala Lumpur) has signed a Memorandum of Understand (MOU) with Airbus for 50 A330-900neo aircraft. The agreement sees the airline become a launch customer for the latest version of the best-selling widebody. AirAsia X will also be one of the first operators of the aircraft, with deliveries to the carrier scheduled to begin in 2018.

AirAsia X orders 25 Airbus A330-300s

AirAsia X (Kuala Lumpur) has announced an order for 25 Airbus A330-300 aircraft and obtained options on 10 additional aircraft according to Reuters.

Virgin Atlantic Airways (London) is expected to sell its 10 percent share of AirAsia X (Kuala Lumpur) to existing stockholders for $21 million.

AirAsia X (AirAsia.com) (Kuala Lumpur) will add Sydney and the Kuala Lumpur route on April 1 according to Airline Route.

AirAsia X to stop flying to India and Europe

AirAsia X (AirAsia.com) (Kuala Lumpur) has announced it will suspend scheduled low-fare flights to Mumbai, India from January, while the services to New Delhi, London and Paris will all cease at the end of March due to high taxes and high fuel costs.

The long-range subsidiary of AirAsia will concentrate on serving Asia and Australia. AirAsia will continue to serve India with Airbus A320s.
