British adds “Face to Face” titles to G-BNLO

British Airways (London) has added additional “Face to Face” sub-titles by the nose of Boeing 747-436 G-BNLO (msn 24057) in support of the special program.

In other news, British Airways added the daily London (Heathrow)-Las Vegas Boeing 777 route yesterday (October 25).

United’s N331UA to operate the last 737 flight

United Airlines (Chicago) will operate the last Boeing 737 revenue between Salt Lake City and San Francisco tomorrow (October 27, 2009) with 737-322 N329UA (msn 24149). The pictured 737-322 N331UA (msn 24192) has been selected to operate the last UA 737 flight after more than 41 years. N331UA will operate a “farewell flight” on Wednesday October 28, 2009 between Washington (Dulles) and San Francisco via planned extended stops at the Chicago (O’Hare), Denver and Los Angeles hubs. N331UA will depart IAD around 0600 and arrive at SFO around 1800 on the historic goodbye flight. Both airliners will ferry to Victorville, CA for storage the following day. This week we will have a special salute of 41 years of Boeing 737s at United Airlines in the Airliners Gallery.

JAL’s overhaul to be run by state-backed group

JAL-Japan Airlines (Tokyo-Haneda) will be reorganized by a Japanese government-backed turnaround group overseeing the process. In addition JAL now plans to cut around 13,000 jobs.

EuroAtlantic adds larger titles to L-1011 CS-TEB

EuroAtlantic Airways (Lisbon) has upgraded the livery on its Lockheed L-1011-385-3 TriStar 500 CS-TEB (msn 1240) to the 2005 colors which features larger titles.

Virgin Atlantic flies Buccaneers and Patriots

Virgin Atlantic Airways (London) was selected to carry both the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and the New England Patriots to the regular season NFL game on sunday (October 25) in London. A Boeing 747-400 will fly each team.

Arik Air adds Ilorin, service to Lagos and Abuja

Arik Air (Arik Wings of Nigeria) (Lagos) will add Ilorin in Nigeria on October 25 with domestic service to both Lagos and Abuja.

TAP Portugal’s A320 CS-TMW loses radio contact

TAP Portugalโ€™s (Lisbon) Airbus A320-214 CS-TMW (msn 1667) operating a flight between Lisbon and Copenhagen lost radio contact over Belgium last weekend for approximately 30 minutes. NATO (Luftwaffe) fighter jets were displaced.

Transcarga International Airways (La Linea De Venezuela) (Caracas) has leased ex-TradeWinds Cargo Airlines Airbus A300B4-203 (F) N501TR (msn 053). The aircraft also carries small “Operated by Sky Lease 1” titles.
